Chapter 676: Chapter 9: Strange Materials
Lynch walked over and gently patted Grahamâs trembling shoulder caused by excitement.
âHey, buddy,â he said with a tone of helplessness mixed with amusement, âso many years have passed, yet your temper for arguing over a few Magic Stones hasnât changed at all!â
Graham was fully engrossed in the âprice warâ with the shop owner and was startled by the sudden pat and familiar voice. He turned around abruptly. When he saw Lynch standing behind him, his angry expression instantly gave way to surprise and a slight, indiscernible embarrassment.
âLin⊠Lynch?â Graham opened his mouth, seemingly not expecting to meet him here, especially in such a âdisgracefulâ situation.
Lynch didnât say much more, just smiled, casually took out a heavy-looking Magic Stone Bag from his waist, and without a glance, tossed it onto the counter with a âplop.â He said to the fat shop owner, âWeâll take this Dragon Blood Moss. Wrap it up for him.â
The fat shop owner was slightly stunned, clearly not anticipating such a lavish customer to appear halfway through. He quickly weighed the bagâs heaviness, and his indifferent face instantly melted into a warm smile: âSure thing! Such a straightforward gentleman! Please hold on, Iâll wrap it up right away!â He swiftly picked up the dark red moss and carefully wrapped it in specially made Rune Paper.
Graham watched the scene, his lips quivering, seemingly wanting to intervene, but ultimately failed to say anything before Lynch pulled him away, only leaving âheartacheâ and âunworthinessâ written all over his face.
Leaving the âSecret Magic Springâ shop, Graham held the costly box of Dragon Blood Moss, continuously muttering, âOh, Lynch, my friend, you were too impulsive⊠That shopkeeper clearly sizes people up before setting prices. If Iâd bargained a bit longer, I guarantee we couldâve gotten it for a hundred Magic Stones⊠We spent an extra fifty Magic Stones! Fifty Magic Stones could be enough for meâŠâ
Lynch interrupted him with a smile, âAlright, Graham. Itâs just a little money; no need to exhaust yourself over it. Iâm not short of Magic Stones right now.â His tone was relaxed, truly not bothered by the extra spending.
Naliti quietly followed the two, watching the reunion of old friends with a faint smile at the corner of her mouth.
The three chatted about recent events as they continued along Wizard Alley.
Suddenly, Lynchâs steps slightly paused.
His powerful Perception caught a subtle yet exceptionally unique energy fluctuation. The fluctuation wasnât purely magical energy but mixed with an indescribable, pure, ancient soul aura.
He turned his head, his gaze sharply directed toward the source of the fluctuation â an unnoticed corner beside the alley.
There stood a peculiar wooden house.
The house was rickety, seemingly ready to collapse at any moment. Strangely, beneath it grew a pair of large, chicken-like wooden claws, currently scratching the ground restlessly. Next to it, a tilted sign with messy writing read: âCroak Witchâs Mystical Hut.â
Lynch raised an eyebrow and walked over.
Upon pushing open what seemed like a door naturally intertwined by branches, the bell on the door issued a croaking sound akin to a frogâs call.
Inside was dimly lit, with a strong scent of various exotic herbs, dried insects, and some kind of tobacco, filling the air. The shelves were piled with all sorts of peculiar items: glowing eyeballs soaked in jars, vibrant unknown feathers, bones engraved with strange runesâŠ
Lynchâs gaze was like a precise probe, quickly scanning the disorganized shelves and finally locking onto an unnoticed wooden shelf in a corner.

There lay a strangely shaped plant. It was translucent gray-black in color, resembling both a curled sleeping infant and an unopened flower bud, its surface covered with a layer of extremely fine star-like fuzz.
In Lynchâs âEye of Death Godâ view, the soul power contained inside this plant was pure and strong, yet vibrating at a frequency he had never seen before, emitting an ancient, mysterious aura.
To Lynchâs surprise, he couldnât recognize what kind of Magic Material it was.
Behind the counter, an elderly witch with a small stature, wrapped in a shabby deep purple cloak and faces full of wrinkles, was puffing a long pipe emitting purple smoke rings. She glanced at Lynch with a cloudy eye, her voice hoarse like sandpaper scraping: âSeen anything you like, young man?â
Lynch pointed to the peculiar plant: âBoss, what is that?â
The old witch puffed out a smoke ring, leisurely responding, âDonât know. Something from the Abyss crevice I picked up because it looked intriguing. Want it? Twenty thousand Magic Stones.â
âTwenty thousand?!â Graham nearly jumped, ready to spit out his saliva, âFor this broken tree root? Granny, why donât you just steal it! I think even two hundred Magic Stones is too much!â
The old witch rolled her eyes, too lazy to deal with Graham, just took another puff of her pipe.
Lynch remained calm, unaffected by the price, instead tasked his spiritual power to perceive the strange soul fluctuation within the plant once more.
âFifteen thousand,â he said lightly.
The old witchâs cloudy eyes moved slightly, as if weighing the decision.
âEighteen thousand, no less. Itâs not easy for an old lady like me to haul it back from such a dangerous place.â
âDeal.â Lynch decisively paid the Magic Stones. Meanwhile, his gaze swept around the shop, buying a few more peculiar scraps of materials with unique aura.
Walking out of the peculiar magic shop, Lynch was thoughtful.
He sensed the unique order in Fran once again.
The elderly witch just now had energy fluctuations at the Secret Skill Level of Wizard, while Graham was merely a Low-level Official Wizard.
In any other Witch Domain, Grahamâs âoffensiveâ behavior could at least get him reprimanded, if not risking his life.
However, here, the Secret Skill witch although unpleasant, didnât use any power to oppress, as if everything adhered to some âfreedom of trade, words without crimeâ implicit rule.
This deeply ingrained sense of order made Lynch secretly amazed.
âWhoa!â
Just then, a massive commotion suddenly erupted from the main road outside the alley, like a stone thrown into a calm lake!
The crowd surged towards a direction like waves; debates, exclamations, and excited shouts intertwined.
âGo and see! Kong the Void Sword! Sheâs dueling the Thorn Sword God!â
âMy god! In the Central Arena! Quick, letâs go, itâll be too late to find a seat!â
Void Sword? Kong? Thorn Sword God?
At the mention, a strong interest flashed in Lynchâs gray eyes. He had seen Kong in action firsthand, and the mysterious Void Domain was deeply impressive.
âLetâs go and watch too!â he said to Graham and Naliti, then joined the flowing crowd, heading swiftly towards the Central Arena.
