Chapter 977: Chapter 90: The Horror Demonâs Weakness (Part 2)
As Beelu pondered the problem, he didnât dodge in time, and the Horror Demon punched him, sending him flying backward and crashing into a wall ten meters away.
The monster, however, didnât pursue him as expected to finish him off. Instead, it turned its head toward the trembling survivors nearby, advancing upon them step by step.
The livestream audience erupted upon witnessing this scene.
Seeing that towering figure over three meters tall approaching the camera, that sense of oppression brought chills to people even across the screen.
âWhatâs going onâŠâ
Not far away, Beelu was momentarily stunned.
He endured the pain coursing through his body and stood up from the rubble, gazing at the creatureâs retreating back, momentarily bewildered.
Logically speaking, as an Awakener, he should have been the first target.
But why did that creature abandon him to attack a group of humans who posed no threat whatsoever?
As he pondered this, the silvery white light in his eyes began to flicker, and that earlier inspiration resurfaced in his mind.
âAn Alien Monster abandoning an Awakener to attack other humans is theoretically impossible, unless⊠those people have something else attracting it!â
Beeluâs eyes suddenly widened.
The scenes he had witnessed before began to connect, unraveling some confusion in an instant, and he finally understood the creatureâs logic!
âFear! Itâs fear! Whatâs attracting it is the fear coming from those people!â
Everything became clear at that moment, explaining why the monster ignored the blind vagrant and why it moved effortlessly after losing its visual organs.
Similarly, it explained why it abandoned Beelu, an Awakener, in favor of attacking other non-threatening normal people.
The answer was simple: fear.
âThis monster can sense fear! Its mode of action isnât based on sight but rather a perception of fear!â
Beelu immediately deduced the answer to that question.
When he had called out the creatureâs name earlier, he hadnât thought too deeply about it.
The âHorrorâ in the creatureâs name, he understood more in terms of its size, akin to dinosaurs.
But now he realized the answer had already been right before him; it was indeed that word âHorror.â
It wasnât about terror; it was about fear.
At this thought, the monsterâs weakness seemed to come forward.
âAs long as I have no fear in my heart, it cannot sense me; I would then be invisible to it!â
Beeluâs spirits lifted with new determination.
This series of thoughts flashed by like lightning, helping him instantly grasp how to deal with the current situation.
However, despite his quick thinking, he was still quite far from the monster at that moment.
As he watched, the creature had already cornered those few survivors, while he was completely unable to reach them to save them; a tragedy seemed imminent.
âNo!â
Beelu let out a cry of anguish.
âBang!â
The next moment, a loud gunshot erupted beside him, seemingly from someone firing an anti-materiel rifle.
Yet, Beelu shook his head inwardly.
Itâs useless; the monsterâs defensive power was too formidable. Even a heavy anti-materiel rifle capable of piercing a tankâs main armor couldnât form an effective breach.
Even if its armor was penetrated, for a Demon Series monster, it wouldnât count as damage at all.
With this in mind, he quickened his pace again, preparing to rush over to intercept that creature.
But unexpectedly, an unforeseen scene occurred.
As soon as the Horror Demon was hit, it staggered involuntarily.
Then, a silvery white light spread from its back, swiftly covering most of its back.
âRoar!!â
The monster staggered forward a few steps, letting out a miserable scream from its mouth.
It reached out its hands, incessantly trying to scratch its back, but its plump body entirely prevented it from doing so.
âIs that⊠Holy Water!?â
Beelu suddenly came to his senses, turning his head to see where the gunshot had originated.
On a high building not far away stood a figure clad in green Daring Clothes with impunity.
In his hand was an exaggeratedly styled sniper rifle, evidently responsible for firing the shot earlier.
Beelu recognized the figure almost immediately; it was an Awakener from the organization!
A sudden urge to cry overcame him.
The organization still valued him greatly; this Awakener before him must be a skilled individual sent by the organization to secretly protect him.
He didnât know what the personâs specific code name was.
But to protect him in secrecy, they mustnât be ordinary; at least, their strength would exceed his own half-baked level.
Beeluâs grasp of the organization was limited, a precaution Ye Yunxiu took to prevent him from becoming a counter spy.
This resulted in a certain perception.
In Beeluâs understanding, he had always been someone with no real power, especially compared to the actual Awakeners within the organization, his abilities amounted to no more than half-baked talent.
In a way, his perception wasnât exactly wrong.
The strength of an Awakener still corresponded with their mastery of Dark Energy Techniques, and as an âunofficial member,â Beelu had naturally limited access to formulas.
âRoar roar roar!â
Nearby, the Horror Demon gradually recovered from the initial pain, and the silvery liquid spreading across its back had already vanished.
Though it left a horribly large wound on its back, it wasnât lethal or enough to impede its actions.
âA third-level Alien Species is indeed not easy to deal withâŠâ
On the rooftop, Jannan lowered his sniper rifle, sighing as he looked at the monster below.
The bullets he used earlier, of course, werenât ordinary ammunition but modified Holy Water Bullets.
They werenât filled with ordinary Holy Water either but the more advanced Unicorn Blood.
Unfortunately, this Horror Demon seemed even larger than what the Alien Species Manual described, and the Unicorn Blood didnât have much effect.
This left Jannan feeling a pang of pain.
A bottle of Unicorn Blood wasnât cheap; it could only fill two of such high-caliber bullets, and now he only had one left.
Shaking his head, he raised the rifle again, aiming at the creatureâs head before squeezing the trigger once more.
âBang!â
The incredible gunshot sounded again, scaring the surrounding survivors and Hurricane Team warriors into a shiver, looking up in his direction.
Members of the Hurricane Team, of course, didnât recognize Jannan, but as a special organization from America combating supernatural monstrosities, they naturally recognized the outfit.
âItâs their personnel!â
Inside the armored vehicle, a commander watched intently over there, with mixed emotions of happiness and vigilance, perhaps feeling both.
Regarding the mysterious organization, the Star Alliance, the intel they had was even more limited than the Abnormality Department, knowing no more than a name.
Unlike the gravity of the people present, cheer erupted from the livestream audience at that moment.
âMore people arrived, looks like it might be another Super Hero! Did you all see those last two shots? That silvery liquid, this Demon seemed to fear it greatly.â
âYes, it must be some weapon to counter it, something like Holy Water! Is this person perhaps a Cultivator?â
âLook! The streamer captured him, his outfit is so unique! This is how a Super Hero should dress!â
âGo, hit that guy hard! Drown it in Holy Water!â
