Edie said helplessly, "I really have it, and I remember I had it with me when I left." Joanna rested in Donaldās arms as if she had had no bones and said weakly, "So we have to wait here for you to find the invitation that does not exist? I am wearing high-heel shoes. I am so tired of standing."
"You are tired?" Donald looked down at the woman in his arms and said gently, "Letās go in first so you can sit down and rest."
"Okay," Joanna said softly. Donald raised his head and looked straight ahead at the man pretending he didnāt know Edie, "Since the lady canāt find her invitation, can we go ahead of her?"
The man hesitated for a moment because it was against the rules, but Edie hadnāt shown him her invitation yet, and more and more people were waiting to enter. After thinking about it, he said to Edie, "I am sorry, but could you please step to the side to find your invitation? According to our regulations, if you donāt have an invitation, you are not allowed to go in."
Edie also knew that it was not proper for her to stand there anymore, so she took two steps and stood at the side of the entrance. The man naturally checked Donaldās invitation. Joanna complained, "Donald, it really takes a long time to enter."
Donald looked at her with his face full of pampering, "I am sorry, but donāt worry. We will be going in soon." The man was a little embarrassed, "Mr. Lynch, you can enter now."
Donald nodded and calmly walked through the entrance with Joanna, and his arms were wrapped around her waist. During this process, he never even turned his head towards Edie; he acted as though he hadnāt known her at all.
When Joanna passed Edie, she smiled at her. Edie didnāt notice the look of disdain on Joannaās face. Joanna was pleased as though it was a contest and she had won the prize. Just as Donald and Joanna were about to enter, a person suddenly shouted, "Mrs. Yates, your invitation was lost in the car!"
Not only did Edie look back in surprise, but Donald and Joanna heard the sound and stopped to see who it was. The driver was holding a white invitation in his hand and ran to Edie. He said while trying to catch his breath, "I, I just went through two streets and found it in the back seat. I hurried back here to give it to. I hope it didnāt cause any trouble."
Edie said sincerely, "Thank you very much." The driver smiled, "I am glad that it didnāt cause you any trouble." Joanna heard the conversation and looked at the invitation in Edieās hand. There was a hint of enmity in her eyes, and her hands that were on her side of her body could not help but clench her fists, struggling to stay in control.
Why was her such good luck? How can she survive every time? She just wanted to see Edie make a fool of herself. Why was it so difficult? Joanna was very rancorous but still pretended to be kind. She said, "Itās like a dramatic plot, and it actually happened! Itās really like a coincidence, but itās hard to say if the invitation is real."
Edie turned a deaf ear to Joanna and handed the invitation to the man. He opened it and lightly exclaimed, "I am sorry, but is this invitation yours?"
Edie shook her head honestly, "No..." This word was an unexpected gift to Joanna. She was excited and spoke to Edie, "Oh, Edie, if you really wanted to attend this dinner party, just tell me, and I would have found an invitation for you. Why did you have to make a fake? It must be so embarrassing to be discovered now."
Of course, even if Edie had come to her, she would not have helped her. Edie went on to say the following words, which were interrupted by Joanna, "Itās not mine. It is my husbandās, Stuart Yates." The smile on Joannaās face was frozen.
Even Donaldās eyes were slightly stunned. The husband of Edie was exactly the CEO of L.N. Group, Stuart Yates, wasnāt he? Stuart actually thought so highly of Edie and even let her attend such a high-end dinner party?
Those who could attend this dinner party were all celebrities in the City. If Edie could participate as the wife of Stuart, then it was the same as to proclaim her identity to the whole City. Wasnāt Stuart just playing games with Edie? How could he be so serious about a woman like her?!
Joannaās eyes were filled with disbelief and shock. The man confirmed the authenticity of the invitation in his hand, looked at her temperament and how Edie was dressed, and he was basically convinced. He apologized and couldnāt say enough how sorry he was. He also apologized for not being polite enough to her.
The man said to Edie more respectfully, "Mrs. Yates, please come in, and please watch your step." Edie was completely aware that the manās attitude changed because it was all due to the status of Stuart. She did not intend to embarrass the man. She nodded and said, "Thank you."
Then she walked into the mansion. Donald and Joanna hadnāt stepped in because of the unexpected incident that just happened. So when Edie came in, she just met them face to face.
Donaldās expression did not change much, but when he saw Edie, his back still invisibility became stiff for a second. Edie saw them and smiled lightly, "You have not entered yet? You really wanted to have a good laugh at me. I am so sorry to have disappointed you."
Joannaās expression was terrible. She barely raised her mouth to make a smile, "I am so pleased that they let you in. I was afraid that you would have been out there all night. I am sorry that I could not help you, Mrs. Yates."
She emphasized the words "Mrs. Yates," not only to Edie, but also to remind Donald. Donald heard the two words and his eyes were colder. Edie did not intend to entangle with them and smiled gracefully, "Since you two like to watch the drama, then just watch here as I have to enter now. I will see you at the dinner party."
After that, she passed them and walked inside. Joanna was angry with Edieās attitude, but she had to maintain the image of a gentle and generous lady in front of Donald. Therefore, she struggled to hold back her anger and effeminately complained to Donald, "Donald, she is so impolite. How can she say something like that?"
Donald gently comforted her, "Leave her alone. Letās go inside now." Seeing that Donaldās attitude towards her was as gentle and pampering. Joanna felt slightly at ease. Then she felt a little proud.
Edie had hooked up with Stuart, but so what? Her most beloved man Donald was actually completely in love with her. However, no one saw Donaldās expression on his face. His eyes were filled with dark emotions, which were deep and strange.
