Eddie knew that her foot was badly hurt and frowned as she became aware of the seriousness of the situation, "What are we going to do?"
Gould put the phone in his pocket and squatted bravely in front of her, "Come on, Eddie, Iāll carry you to the hospital."
Looking at Gouldās fragile frame, Eddie couldnāt help but say, "Gould, Iām afraid Iām going to hurt you. I donāt think you are strong enough?"
"It will be fine. Let me pick you up, and I am strong enough."
Eddie thought for a moment, and they really wasnāt anything else to do, so she stood up in pain and slowly got on Gouldās back.
"There is a row of lounge chairs in front of me. Iām going to stop and take a break. I should be able to walk on my own."
Eddie found that Gouldās legs were starting to become weak as he carried her, and she didnāt want to hurt him, so she asked him to put her down. Gould put Eddie in the chair beside the elevator and sat down beside her. Then he looked down at her feet, and her ankle was red and swollen.
"It seems to be swelling. Let me rub it for you. It may help?"
Eddie was a little embarrassed, but Gould was gay. So, she nodded her head and agreed. "Are you sure you donāt mind? I donāt want to cause you any trouble."
Gould took Eddieās shoes off and softly rubbed her ankle. He looked up at her and smiled. "Eddie, no problem. I am happy to do it. I donāt know if you remember, but I was with you when I first started working for Danny, and I made mistakes every day. You were always so kind to me and helped me."
Eddie remembered Gould back then and smiled, "Yes, I remember how intimidated you were by all the famous actors and actresses. Once you brought me the directorās chair, and you were scolded like a dog."
"Then my mother got sick, and I couldnāt afford a ticket. You lent me three thousand dollars right away. In fact, you didnāt have any money yourself, but you were kind enough to loan it to me."
"Yes, I remember that well. Eddie, youāre a good person and well worth being nice to," Gould said with a shy smile. Eddie was touched by what he said, and it was rare that someone in this indifferent circle remembered a bit of her kindness.
Suddenly there was a loud sound, and the door opened. There was a sound of a familiar voice.
"Stuart, isnāt this your wife?"
Eddie quickly raised her head to look at Stuart and Anna as they walked out of the elevator. She thought they were just passing through, but they had come upstairs.
"What is Stuart doing here? Was it a business? Why was Anna with him if he was working?"
Gould was so focused on rubbing Eddieās foot that he didnāt notice that someone was standing behind him. Eddieās eyes met Stuartās, and his dark pupils filled with emotions. She did not understand why he was there, but Stuart could always make her heart flutter.
Stuart then looked down at Eddieās foot and saw Gould rubbing it. It hardly seemed reasonable that he should be rubbing her foot so intimately and in a public place. Anna could not miss out on such an excellent opportunity to fan the flames, "Can heterosexual relationships be so close in America? I have never seen it before in Europe."
Stuartās face became pale, and his cold eyes glared at them. Eddie was so taken aback by the sudden appearance of the two men, and then she realized the behavior was inappropriate and quickly withdrew her foot. Gould, who didnāt know what was going on, saw Eddieās actions and thought her ankle felt better and said, "Are you feeling better? Letās get out of here and get you some medicine."
"Okay," Eddie murmured, trying to avoid Stuartās cold gaze. She didnāt know what to do with Stuart, and she just wanted to get away from him. With Anna standing next to Stuart, Eddie felt she could not speak to Stuart calmly right now.
She had to wait until the evening and then they could talk privately. As soon as Eddie stood up and went to put her shoes back on, her ankle started to ache again. She almost fell over from the pain.
Luckily Gould was being careful and looking out for her, and as soon as Eddie started to fall, he caught her. Then with concern in his voice, he said, "You still canāt walk, can you? Stop trying to be brave and let me carry you."
Gould, who had always been shy and effeminate, was a bit manly at the moment. He suddenly crouched down to pick her up. She looked up and saw Stuartās face, and his thin lips were pressed tightly together.
His eyes that had once been so warm were now as cold as ice. Eddie had never seen him look at her like this before. Seeing him look at her in this way only made Eddie angry.
She knew Anna liked him, and he was touching her. So what qualifications did you have to place judgment on her? At least her relationship with Gould was clean.
With a feeling of resentment, Eddie gritted her teeth and let Gouldās help her right before Stuartās eyes. Stuart was angry and stepped in front of Gould. Gould couldnāt help but doubtfully look up and saw that a man was standing in front of him.
When he looked up, he saw a man with handsome features and an outstanding temperament. Gould stood there with a blank expression spreading across his face. He was feeling a little pressured by the look on Stuartās face. Gould could tell that he was not just an ordinary man.
Stuart did not move, and his eyes were fixed on Gould. Gould seemed to understand what was going on, and he said, "Eddie, do you know this man?"
Eddie, who was somewhat dazed by Stuartās unrelenting gaze. She turned her head and lowered her voice to almost a whisper, "Well, he is an acquaintance of mine."
Danny and Rhoda knew about their marriage, but Eddie didnāt want too many people to know about her relationship with Stuart.
"How dare you say that. Iām just an acquaintance of yours, am I?"
Hearing Eddieās words, Stuartās voice was as cold as an ice blade. He squinted down at her, and you could feel his anger surfacing in a fury at that moment. The sound of Stuartās voice made Eddie freeze, and she looked at him. Then the atmosphere immediately changed.
