Eddie felt a little embarrassed when she realized that everyone was staring at her, but she still greeted Todd and Jason, "Hi, Iâm Eddie Lara. Itâs nice to meet you."
Something flashed through Jasonâs mind. He smiled and took out an elegant, velvet box from his pocket and handed it to Eddie.
"Nice to meet you, this is a present I bought you when I was in Europe. I hope you like it." Jasonâs voice was brimming with enthusiasm.
Eddie was a bit flustered. She didnât know if she should accept the gift or not. Eddie looked at Stuart, and he nodded as if telling her it was okay. She took the box and said, "Thank you, Master Williams."
"Youâre my sister-in-law, just call me Jason."
She nodded her head in agreement, "Okay, Jason, it is."
Jason looked at her in admiration, "Iâve been wondering what kind of woman Stuart likes. Seeing you today amazes me."
Eddie blushed but accepted the compliment with good grace. At this point in time, Toddâs lips curved in a barely perceptible smile and interrupted, "Jason, you cheater! We came together and you secretly brought Eddie a gift. Are you trying to make me look bad? Then, I will give her a small present as well."
Todd took out a box from his pocket and carefully passed it to her. His smile gave Eddie a strange feeling, and she was a little hesitant at first. However, Todd seemed so excited and pushed the gift straight into her hands in a hurry, "Eddie, open it up."
Todd winked and made the okay sign. She had no choice, and she had to open it. As soon as Eddie looked at it, she regretted it the moment she saw it. Todd gave her a box of condoms! Different colors and different brands. The entire box was filled with different types of condoms. Eddie did not expect this at all and overcame my embarrassment.
Stuart could no longer sit, he couldnât let Todd make fun of his wife. He reached for the box, put the cover back on and handed it over to Mr. Sampson. Stuart gazed at Todd with a serious expression on his face. Then he squeezed the words out between his clenched teeth, "Thank you."
Todd looked pleased with himself. He nodded casually, "Youâre welcome; Jasonâs gift was too plain. My gift is useful! I know you two will get lots of fun from it since you are so keen on having sex. I had it all prepared for you in advance. Especially if you leave the house, you can carry them so easily with you...Ha, ha. Better to be safe than sorry. You can never be too careful, unless....!"
The situation was so awkward for Eddie; she took a deep breath, and her face turned a darker shade of red. Toddâs mind was so "dirty." She stood up at once and said without looking at any one of them, "Iâll go and see...if dinner is ready..."
Eddie no sooner got the words out and turned around quickly and left. After she went into the kitchen, Toddâs grin faded. He sat on the sofa with his arms behind his head and casually said, "Sheâs so shy; thatâs very different for you, Stuart."
Jasonâs eyes were twinkling with mischief, and a playful smile hovered on his lips, "She seems like a nice person. When I found out that she was an actress, I thought she was like Sophia. Seeing her today completely changed my mind. I think she will make a good wife."
Stuart saw through their intentions, and they had come to tease him. His dark eyes glared at them, his mouth turned down in a frown, "Why do you care so much about someone elseâs wife when you canât find one of your own."
Jasonâs personality was different. He was not playful like Todd nor ascetic as Stuart, it was as though he had no emotional needs. Jason would occasionally hunt for sex to satisfy his physical requirements, but never once fell in love. As expected, Stuartâs words made him shake his head in disapproval, "No, please give me a break. Women are troublesome, and theyâre emotionally unstable. I donât want to waste the rest of my life on a woman."
Todd said, "Jason, tell me the truth...do you like men? No wonder why you always look at me strangely. Do you have feelings for me?" As he finished his sentence, he moved a little away from Jason. There was just a touch of sarcasm in his voice.
"You donât need to worry about it, even if I did like men, I wouldnât be interested in you."
Jason stared at Stuart and Todd scornfully. Stuart was holding back his anger, and he wasnât interested in watching them fight, he said in a cold tone, "What are you two here for?"
With a serious expression on his face, Jason said, "I came here as soon as I got off the plane. I have something to tell you."
He lowered his voice and leaned towards Stuart, "You were right, while I stayed in the country, he took more actions in Europe. Now several companies are trying to buy out the L.N. Group. According to my investigation, all of them are controlled by the same company. I havenât found out who is in charge of the company, but Iâm sure itâs a shell company."
Jason took out a document from his briefcase and handed it to Stuart. He went through the papers carefully, his lips broke into a smug smile with one corner hinting upwards, "He has finally taken action."
Todd crossed his legs and grinned, the smile consuming his entire face, "He had finally revealed his true intentions."
"Watch him closely for me; donât make any sudden moves."
Jason nodded, "I know, and he will make a move soon. We donât dare to take the first step because it might push him too far."
"I trust you."
"I have something else to ask you, Hicks Day, what are you going to do with her?" Jason asked.
Stuart stared at Jason with a perplexed expression and finally shook his head, "What did you find out?"
"The amount of time you gave me was too short. I could only find Marinaâs basic background. She was an orphan, and her foster parents are now living in a small country in the South. She came to Australia by herself, and her social relations are few. Ten years ago, she lost her memory from an illness, but all her medical records were gone by the time my people arrived at the hospital."
