What was better than meeting the most popular male artist in your company? When the male artist knew you and called you by your name. Eddieâs tongue was tied, and she stammered, "You.. you..you know me?"
Clyde smiled, revealing two dimples, "I know you. Yes, of course, I know you."
Eddie felt ashamed of what she was doing, clearing her throat and calmed herself down, "I mean, I donât know how you know me, Mr. Clyde?"
Clyde smiled, "Because youâre famous."
"Did I have an ear problem, or was Clyde having a brain problem?"
Her current performance as a supporting actress in The White Love Song was well known. Eddie was shocked by Clydeâs response, and he spoke so naturally. It was entirely uncomplimentary, and she never realized her acting in the movie had such a significant impact on him.
"Mr. Clyde, please donât joke," Eddie said. Clyde laughed and looked happy, "Youâre funny. Youâre not what I expected."
He took out a piece of paper and pen from his pocket, then wrote down a bunch of numbers and handed it to Eddie, "Hereâs my phone number. Call me."
Then he winked at Eddie and waved goodbye. Eddie stood there, looking at the number in her hand. She was still a little stunned with his reactions.
Danny, "Clyde addressed that question? You met her at the company?"
"Yes, he was on his way out when I came in. We kind of bumped into one another."
Eddie spoke briefly, without mentioning the fact that Clyde knocked her phone out of her hand. Danny explained, "He has a new movie coming up, and the lead actress hasnât been decided yet. He came to our company to see if there was anyone suitable."
Eddie wondered, "Heâs not a director; heâs not a producer. Why was he looking for a leading actress? Besides, wouldnât it be all right to make a phone call instead? Are all the big stars so friendly now?"
"Heâs not just a leading actor, and heâs also one of the producers. Itâs normal too because he has spent tens of millions of dollars on it. He just got all the artistâs information from our company for research, and then he will make his final decision."
"All of the actors and actresses information. Including me?"
"Are you not one of the companyâs entertainers?"
Danny rolled his eyes and said, "Why do you look like you donât want to do it? Are you not looking for an opportunity like this? You would be crazy if you werenât!"
"Yes, I want it. I donât know, but I have a weird feeling about all of this. Did you know, I just met Clyde, and he called me by my name?"
"Clyde was admitted to Harvard University at the age of sixteen. He is a genius. He got into showbiz because he loved it, but he is a highly intelligent man."
Danny laughed at Eddie, "You donât think heâs attracted to you, do you? Or maybe he has had a crush on you for years, and now he is finally approaching you?"
Eddie waved her hand in the air, "No, no, Iâm not that self-centered."
Eddie had some uncertainty, but there was no hard evidence, so she didnât say anything. Danny asked again, "So how was the audition today?"
Eddie shook her head. "A...probably didnât turn as well as I expected."
"Master Yates has such great resources. So you shouldnât have to run to all these different auditions every day. The worst part is that it wasnât even a good role."
Danny thought it was a shame, but he knew he couldnât help Eddie. He sighed and began to give Eddie some other work.
Meanwhile, back in a hotel in the city, the editor-in-chief was pulling scarlet to one side in front of a doorway.
"There are all kinds of important people here, I am expecting you to be on your best behavior. I want you to impress them as this will have a great influence on our paper. Donât pull any tricks, do you understand?"
Scarlet impatiently said, "Yes, I know. I know."
Scarlet complained to herself as the editor spoke in a tone of such high authority. The people who did not know her may think she was soliciting for herself. Scarlet had just been promoted by the editor in chief and had not been happy for the past couple of days before she got the promotion.
Now Scarletâs boss was holding a business party. There were a lot of influential people in the room. Scarlet adjusted her clothing and put a smile on her face and then walked into the room.
The table was covered in liquor. There was beer, wine, and most of the bottles were empty. There were also all kinds of food on the table, but no one had touched it.
Scarlet walked over to the table and got herself a drink. Then she walked over to the people and started to talk to them. While Scarlet was chatting with them, she had consumed a numerous amount of alcohol.
After three hours, she had won over at least a dozen of them. Since Scarlet had drunk so much, she felt a little nauseous and went to the bathroom. She had her head over the toilet for more than ten minutes. Finally, Scarlet started to feel a bit better and went back into the room and sat down.
Unfortunately, as she was sitting, her stomach started to feel even worse. Then she put her hand over her mouth and ran into the washroom again. It wasnât until half an hour later when Scarlet started to feel a little better.
"Damn it, Why did you drink so much?"
The man spat and cursed at her. Scarlet was wiping her mouth and said, "Excuse me, but who are you?"
As soon as she stepped out of the bathroom, Scarlet felt her head was a little dizzy, and her legs seemed to feel weak. The sudden pain in her head was a bit unexpected. Scarlet suddenly started to fall. Luckily the man who was coming out of the menâs bathroom caught her. Scarletâs head was spinning and said, "Thank..Thank you very much."
The man had a deep voice and whispered in her ear, "Iâve been looking for you for so time now. As it turns out, you end up in my arms."
Scarlet was a bit confused but inexplicably felt this manâs voice to be very familiar. When she looked up and saw the manâs face, she was petrified.
"Wasnât this the man I slept with the other night? What did he mean by that? Why is he looking for me?"
A sudden terrible feeling seemed to come over her. Scarlet started to speak, but her mind was such a blur. Suddenly she could feel herself feeling faint and fell into his arms.
Jason didnât expect the woman in his arms to be drunk again. As he held Scarlet in his arms, he remembered the night they had spent together. Then with a smile on his face, he said, "Interesting."
