An angry voice passed into her ears from behind; she was shocked and shivered upon the sound. Her first instinct was to run away.
Her reaction intrigued Sturtâs anger, so he quickly ran after her.
"CEO!"
Ian watched Stuart run anxiously, Stuartâs face was still covered in a cold sweat, could his body take all the running?
Edie was so bewildered that she didnât know where to go. At last, she caught sight of a bathroom, then rushed into it without hesitation and hid in one of the small blocks. She closed the door and prayed that Stuart didnât see her.
Suddenly, Edie heard the sound of women screaming and high heels clicking outside, then a pair of leather shoes appeared in front of her door.
It was from Stuart.
Her heart started beating rapidly.
"Come out!" Stuartâs voice was angry, he yelled.
He rarely talked to her like this, and he was indeed angry this time.
She clenched her jaws in a grievance, and she was really upset.
The reason why she left Stuart while he was still in a coma was to avoid an awkward situation like this; why couldnât they just part peacefully.
She didnât speak, and she was afraid that as soon as she spoke, she would burst into tears, she was not as strong as she thought. The only thing she could do was to hide her tears away from Stuart; she didnât want to make the decision harder for him.
Stuartâs eyes were spouting flames at the door in front of him, and he wanted to tear the door off and drag Edie out of there but was afraid that he might scare her at the same time.
He tightened his fist, up until now the fear inside of him still hadnât gone away, knowing she was leaving made him fall into a whirlpool of fear.
He could not imagine life without Edie!
He took a deep breath to calm himself down, then said in a deep voice, "Come out!"
Edie sighed, she knew she had to give him a reason today, she couldnât get away with it, so she softly said, "Go home, youâre still sick, I donât want to be rejected by you face to face, canât you just let me leave by myself? I will not open the door if you donât leave!"
Rejected by you face to face?
Shit! What is she thinking?
Stuart clenched his jaw, forbearing the torture of the fever; his steps were a little unstable. The doctor gave him some tranquilizer, but now the pesticide effect was gone, he felt a little dizzy if it werenât for his staunch will power he wouldâve been on the ground by now.
To lure her out of the toilet, Stuart had to say, "If you donât want to be rejected by me, then you should reject me first! How could you just leave without saying anything?"
"...
Edie became quiet.
Reject him?
Was he trying to make the situation easier for her? She had to admit, Stuartâs action touched her, even though she knew he wouldnât treat her like this anymore in the future.
She was leaving, but did she not want to look at him again? He was sick, so his face must be pale, should she go out and hug him for the last time? Otherwise, would she regret later on?
Regret...
She would regret sure!
Edie bit her lips, after thinking over everything for a long time, she finally decided to open the door and properly say goodbye to him. He would not leave if she didnât explain everything clearly.
She took a few deep breaths, and her hand was clencher into a fist as well. After a long time of hesitation, she finally opened the door.
Outside the door, a tall man was standing in front of her. He was sweating, his white shirt was drenched again, it should not be a nice scene, but since it was Stuart, there was still a fragile beauty to him.
She couldnât look into his dark eyes, so she looked down and said her greeting in the plainest manner, "Youâre here, actually you didnât have to come, I can leave on my own."
As soon as she finished speaking, the man in front of her came a few inches closer, she looked up in confusion, but the next second, she was already been held against the manâs robust chest.
His hand went through her black hair and pressed against the back of her head, and he wanted to blend into one with her if he could.
"S...Stuart?" Edie was startled, he was expressing his love so bluntly, without warning, his warmth and gentleness surrounded her, he didnât give her any chance to breathe. At that moment, she forgot to speak, and there was a voice inside her which kept yelling, "Donât ever leave his arms, donât ever!"
She wanted to indulge in his arms forever.
But...
As soon as she thought of Hicks, her heartbeat stopped for a second.
"Stuart, thank you for loving me, but I know... how important she is to you, having gained your love in the past is enough for me, we shouldnât continue like this, or... it will be torture for both of us..." She said bitterly, trying to hold her tears back.
Unexpectedly, Stuart yelled at her, "Shut up, donât say anything or do anything. Let me hug you for a while!"
"..."
She didnât really get what he meant, and her hand was still beside her legs, she wanted to hug him but had no courage.
The hug lasted for a very long time. In the end, Edie was too worried about his burning body, so she spoke first, "Stuart, letâs end it here."
"Why to end it here, the contract is valid for our entire lifetime, donât you dare leave me now?"
Stuart loosened her body, and his eyes landed on her face in anger.
Edie looked at the contract in his hand; there was his signature on it; it seemed it was signed with blood since the color had turned brown.
"You..." She opened her eyes wide and couldnât say a word because of the astonishment.
"It was my fault. I didnât see your present sooner before I had time to sign the contract. I received the news that you were at Brittanyâs house. So I will tell you now, Edie, you are mine, no one can make you leave me, not even yourself! Who gave you the guts to leave me? And you even left me while I was still in a coma, did you want me to die of anger?" He was furious but scared too.
In this entire world, only one woman could make him scared, and that was Edie.
Scared of her crying, being angry, being kidnapped, leaving him...
Edie was shocked, she stared at him in confusion and asked, "What...what about Hicks? Isnât she..."
"So what, did you hear me say I chose her? Why didnât you ask me? You dared to leave me, why didnât you have the courage to ask me?"
