Aaron didnāt get in the villa with her.
"Whereās my mom and Stuart?"
"Mrs. Bette was handling emergency events in the company. Lady Brittany got back home just now, but she had already left. Mr. Bates and Ivan also left. Mr. Yates was in the bedroom right now. He also came back just now."
"Okay. Thank you."
She knew everyone was busy dealing with her emergency. She couldnāt hide behind.
Edie pushed to open the bedroom. Unexpectedly, she saw Stuartās naked body.
She froze, staring at his beautiful muscle.
The man looked pale. At the moment, he looked fragile and hurtful. His face was covered with a bruise. He hit someone just now.
His clothes got wet totally in the rain.
Stuart took a glimpse at her and took a washcloth to cover his lower body.
He rushed to ask William to treat Edie with justice.
He hit William. He forgot to control his anger.
If he helped Edie, the man behind would realize what happened. He would know Stuart fake it.
He understood this. But he couldnāt watch this without doing anything. Finally, he decided to satisfy others.
He walked into the bathroom and sent a text.
"I have men to help you investigate that news about Edie. Be sure to give her that she deserves."
Soon, the man replied to the text.
"What about you? What are you in this game?"
"The men that should satisfy you the most. I couldnāt take care of her now. So please treat her well."
Then, he turned off the phone. He didnāt want to read those words. They were burning his heart.
All he could do was this.
He stood at the door and touched the phone.
When he opened the door, he stood close to Edie.
He smiled. The smile was lonely and better.
Then he walked out. Seeing Edie, he said coldly, "I donāt want to see you now. Please leave."
Edie pressed her lips and pointed at the first-aid kit, "Your bruise. There. Apply some."
She didnāt ask him why he got a bruise, wet, and looked weak.
"Edie, could you divorce me now, after all those?" Stuart utters his words.
"After all those? Are you talking about that news? If I divorce you, I am acknowledging that news. So I wonāt divorce you, for me, and, for you. I didnāt do that, no matter what you think. Even you are going to hate me, Stuart,"
She looked at him, determinedly and proudly.
When her eyes met him, she felt embarrassed.
Stuartās eyes looked gentle and sincere.
But he kept hiding that.
He held his fist tightly to control himself. He got so nervous that he finally fell down on the ground.
Edie held him immediately. His body was so cold, like an ice cube.
"Did you wash in cold water?"
He didnāt answer her. He just held the edge of the bed and pushed her away.
If he didnāt wash in the cold water, he couldnāt stand that pain losing the girl she loved the most.
He wanted to stand the pain for her to protect her and their baby.
He was also suffering when she was in pain.
He knew the feeling because he feels the same too.
Looking at him, Edie cried out, "Are you out of mind? It was cold. You would get a cold. Are you stupid?"
Stuart buckled her hands and jumped out from the bed, "yes, I am out of mind, because of you."
All of a sudden, the room fell into silence.
Edieās tear fell on the ground.
She stared at him, "All right then, show me."
Then she took the cotton bud and applied the medicine to the corner of his mouth. But he caught her hand.
"What the hell are you doing?"
"Torturing you. I like that, the pain on your face, "she stared at him. Her eyes were cold, but her tears were hot. They were burning her skin.
Finally, Stuart loosened her hands.
She pressed him on the bed and applied for the medicine carefully on his face.
He looked so calm as if he couldnāt feel the pain.
She was quite familiar with this face. She wanted to love her. She wanted to comfort him. But she couldnāt. He is now a different man. He totally has forgotten her. She thought.
Her concern wouldnāt make any difference. The man didnāt know to take care of himself.
Edie touched his forehead. Heās already got a fever. Edie didnāt know how long heād been soaked in his wet clothes. Her heart was aching. She couldnāt control her tears falling down.
"Why are you crying?" Stuart wanted to hide his concern about her.
Edie sneered, "Cry for your death in advance. Please take care of yourself. Even if you hate me, do this for Hicks, for the woman you love the most. Please take good care of yourself. Donāt make her worry about you."
"Mind your own business," he lowered his eyes and held his fist.
She showed an ironic smile, "you are right. But I donāt want to be a widow. We havenāt get divorced. Legally, I am still your wife,"
These words sounded really familiar to Stuart.
Stuart was shocked. He started coughing.
His face turned red completely.
Edie was frightened. She couldnāt pretend anymore.
She patted his back gently and said, "how do you feel, stay here. I find you a doctor."
"Donāt. I just need to take some medicine," Stuart caught her waist tightly.
And he didnāt want to let her go.
Edie knew this. When he got a stomach ache, he also didnāt want to see a doctor.
She clenched her teeth and said, "okay, stay here. I would cook you some ginger soup. And buy some medicine."
"Donāt. We have medicine. You donāt have to go outside."
He still remembers those reporters outsides.
Edie thought he was still blaming her. But the man knew he stopped her going out because he didnāt want her to be hurt.
She pressed her lips, pretending to be easy.
"Donāt worry. I wonāt go outside. Lie down. I will bring medicine for you."
