After quite a while, Arther broke such embarrassed silence. He said in a calm voice, "Since youâve already known about this, why do you dare to say this to me?"
"What are you talking about? Iâve always stayed with the law and respected the man like you, the men who devote themselves to guarding our country. So you are wrong. If you keep saying this, I mind resorting to the law for your mistake."
"Master, you donât have to talk to him. He is an asshole. Letâs leave here now."
Cecil said anxiously. He couldnât understand even a word of the conversation.
William burst into laughter, "Cecil was still confused. He might not know what his father did...."
Before he finished, both Edie and Arther called him.
"Mr. William..."
Arther sounded really angry. He was trying to press his emotion.
Edie realized her voice was covered by his voice. She frowned slightly.
Why did he interrupt William so quickly? Did he know what William wanted to say?
She looked towards Arther. Arther also looked towards her. The expression in his eyes was complicated. Finally, he pressed his lips and chose to be silent.
"Mr. William, since Arther is your respectful guest, are you going to hold a feast to welcome him?" Edie said.
William didnât get mad because of being interrupted in the middle. Instead, he threw a profound eye on Edie and smiled.
Then, he said, "Of course. He is indeed my respectful guest. I should take care of him."
Then he clapped. Kenley stood out immediately. William asked him to prepare the feast.
William stood highly on the stairs, looking down at all people, like the king looking at his citizen.
He fixed his weird eyes on their face. Then he showed a smile. Then he turned around and left.
Cecil placed his hands on his waist and said angrily, "Bastard, why do you mention my dad? What do you want to say about him? Do you really think we would believe you? Stop, stay here. What do you want to say? Go on..."
"I couldnât take you to leave here," Arther sounded hopeless and powerless.
Hearing this, Cecil stopped all of a sudden. He looked toward Arther in shock. He couldnât believe what he said, "Master, but you are the most powerful master, right? Your family is the top official in England. You have lots of soldiers. Right? Why?"
"Sorry...I am sorry. This is Williamâs territory. It is under the lawâs protection. I...I could only punish those men who were not protected by the law."
Arther failed to live up to Cecilâs expectations. He looked guilty because he couldnât take Cecil and Edie out.
Hearing these words, Cecil pointed at the direction that William left and said angrily, "Why? He is really bad. He kidnapped Edie and me. He even framed my dad. Donât you think he is a bad guy?"
"Cecil, I donât know how to explain to you now. I couldnât do whatever I wanted. This time all I want to do is to pay a visit. I wouldnât do anything."
"Why donât you tell me at the beginning? My father told me, the more powerful person is supposed to take more responsibility. You are powerful. Why couldnât you do anything? What the hell are you doing here if you couldnât do anything? Why do you come here? To give me hope and throw me into despair?"
Cecil said painfully. His fatty face was covered with his tears. He looked so fragile.
Even Edie could no longer stand such imprisonment, not to mention Cecil. He was just a kid.
Besides, William framed his father. He couldnât swallow that. But he was so young and weak now. When Arther came here, he thought he could get justice for his dad. He didnât expect that it turned out like this.
The atmosphere in the living room froze all of a sudden. Edie stood out immediately, "Arther was taking the high risk to visit you. You should appreciate this. How could you say this to him? Donât worry. Stuart would come to take you out."
Edie wanted to give him hope. But Cecil suddenly became serious, "Yes, Stuart would come to save us. I donât need you at all. You can leave now."
"I couldnât leave," Arther said in a weak voice. But he still straightened his body up.
Edie got confused, "Arther, why do you need to stay here? It is so dangerous here, donât you know?"
His brother came here last night, badly injured. Now he came here, like a sheep entering into the tigerâs mouth.
"I can trade me for Cecil. I can stay here. And Cecil can leave," Arther said word by word.
"What?" Cecil screamed out in shock.
"It is nothing more than a trade. Cecil is useless. He could do nothing but make everything a mass. He couldnât analyze the situation rationally. Edie needs a smart guy at this point. I am the perfect choice for her. Besides, I am young. I couldnât threaten them at all. So I am the better one to stay here."
Arther looked at Edie and said word by word.
Cecilâs heart started aching suddenly. He burst into tears and shouted out angrily, "You mean I am not smart enough? How could you say this?"
"I am telling the truth. Edie must be exhausted when taking care of you. Donât you see it? Sheâs conceived a baby now. But she still needs to comfort you. You are nothing more than a burden. So, I can stay here with Edie. You can leave. I parked outside. When you walk out of the house, you can unite with your dad."
He stepped forward to stand asides Edie and held Edieâs hand tightly.
As if they were closer friends compared with Cecil.
What he said was really insulting. Each word hurt Cecil deeply.
So, in Artherâs mind, he was nothing more than useless rubbish. He looked down on him. He dissed him.
Cecil wiped his tears away and said sadly, "All right, then. I should have never regarded you as my friend. From now on, we are no longer friends. I wonât leave here now. I would stay here to protect Edie. We donât need you at all."
"Wow," Arther sneered. His words became sharper, "Friends? I am much more superior than you. How could we become friends? Are you kidding me? You are just my salve. Edie is my sister. I am supposed to protect her. And I donât need anyoneâs help. Kery, take him out."
A cool man stood out and lifted Cecil up. Then he took him away directly.
No matter how Cecil struggled, the man ignored all, as if he couldnât hear anything Cecil said.
This time, no one stopped Cecil because they had a better choice now.
William noticed something happening here. He walked to them, showing a profound smile to them.
Arther dragged Edie into the room directly without even throwing an eye on William. He was really arrogant in front of William.
After closing the door, Edie laughed out and said, "You really kick Cecil away. He might hate you forever. Donât you worry about this?"
"This is an exceptional time. If he stayed here, it would be much more difficult for you to ensure your safety. He might restrict you. But I wouldnât. William didnât dare to do anything to you. If you leave here safe, I can also leave here safe."
Arther said calmly. He looked so wise at the moment.
