Hearing these words, Edie blushed immediately. She wanted to get rid of his hands, but she was so weak in front of him.
"But I want to cook today. I donāt want to play cards. Do you mind? Iāve been so busy with my work before that I didnāt make time to cook for them. Do you mind me using your kitchen for a while?"
"But....but you are my guest. How could I..."
"If you come to our house, we would ask you to cook for us."
He said in a peaceful voice. No one could say no to him, as if his sound had magic power.
"All...all right then. I could ask Sophie to help you."
"Thank you. But thatās not necessary. I can handle everything myself."
Then, he held Edie and took her to the sofa, "Sit here for a while. Sophieās mother prepared all the ingredients. You might donāt like some dishes. Just enjoy those you like. I would cook for you in the future....if I have one more chance."
He said. The last sentence sounded upset.
Then, he turned around and left.
Looking at the manās back, Edie suddenly wanted to cry out.
He looked so elegant. Every step showed his unique style.
He walked to the kitchen and started washing ingredients. He did all these so proficiently as if he had done this many times.
It has been a long time...
Since she ate dishes, he cooked for her last time.
At the moment, Sophieās mother walked to Edie and said in shock," wow, I didnāt expect your husband can also cook. I thought no man could cook, especially the man like your husband. Sophie, learn from him."
"Well," Edie answered and held all tears in her eyes back, "I should help him in the kitchen."
Then, she walked into the kitchen.
Looking at Stuartās back, she took a deep breath and said, "Stuart, why are you here. I think Iāve made it so clear. Please stop bothering us. You have nothing to do with me. In the legal aspect, Laty is not your daughter, either."
"Because of you," Stuart said without turning around, "I wouldnāt leave until I get you."
Then he passed a basket to her, "Wash those vegetables."
".... I come to talk to you." Edie got speechless.
"But you told them you came to help me, didnāt you?" he said innocently, fixing his black eyes on her.
Help you...
She indeed said so.
Edie curled her lips and stared at Stuart. She looked so angry but cute,
She took the basket and started washing those vegetables, "Did Laty collude with you?"
"Collude? That sounded horrible. We are just talking and exchanging feelings." Stuart smiled slightly.
"Do you really believe I would trust you? Laty was also so cold, like you. She almost breaks away from the norm at school." Edie rolled her eyes.
"Did she make anything difficult for you? Is it hard to teach her, for you?" Stuart stopped and turned towards her, asking her seriously.
"Of course. It is hard to teach any kids. The education in childhood attaches great importance to her characteristics. You know what...."
Edie wanted to talk about how to teach kids correctly and persuaded him not to contact Laty and make Laty break farther away from the norm. Stuart already frowned and said in a serious tone, "Brittany had a teacher for girls. She is so good at teaching girls. I would ask her to come to teach Laty later. If she gets you upset again, tell me, I would talk to her. She is my daughter, though, she could never think of making you upset or angry."
"No... I donāt mean that. Laty never makes me upset. Listen to me, okay? Stuart. Could you stop changing the topics? You are the one that bothers us. The best way to solve this is for you to disappear from our life,"
Edie rolled her eyes hopelessly. She couldnāt understand his thoughts or ways to interpret her words.
"If I tell you that I can make Laty get well along with her classmates, I donāt have to disappear, right?" he asked.
Hearing this, Edieās eyes turned shining. She looked at him surprisingly, "Do you know how to do that? Could you?"
"Yes. And I promise you it would work on her on Monday. Then you would see the influence of the father on the kids."
Stuartās eyes were shining with foxy light.
He looked so tricky at the moment.
Edie worried about Laty the most. If he could help Laty, she would accomplish the twice with half of the effort.
Stuartās suggestion really shook Edieās determination. She always went to the school to help Laty get along with others and make other students willing to play with Laty.
If Stuart could really do her a favor and it really worked on Laty, she thought it was worth a shot.
Anyway, she would see the result on Monday. It was soon. She could put up with him these several days.
"All right. But if it didnāt work, leave us immediately."
"What if it works?" he asked in a slight voice. His eyes were shining with the light of wisdom, like the sky shining with stars.
She turned towards him, touching his eyes. All of a sudden, the atmosphere turned weird.
What if it worked? What would she do?
"If it works, I would allow you to contact Laty. Nothing more."
"Deal."
Stuart kept smiling. Edieās heart started beating faster and faster. She had a feeling that she might be fooled by the man in front of her.
Soon, she finished washing those vegetables. Stuart asked her to wash other ingredients. Though they didnāt talk a lot, both of them felt warm at the bottom of the heart.
At eleven oāclock, lunch was finally ready.
All dished smelt so food. The living room was filled with the fragrance.
Everyone got a good appetite.
"Try it."
Stuart said slightly.
Sophieās mother said immediately, "Apparently, they are good and delicious. Edie, why do you have such a handsome capable husband? Why donāt I have one."
Hearing these words, Edie forced a smile.
If she knew this man cooked for her every day five years ago, what would she think?
If she knew Stuart was actually the CEO of the L.N group, what would she think about that?"
āYour husband is also so nice to you. Sophie told me he often bought presents for you to surprise you."
"It is simple. I can do that, as long as you like."
Hearing Edieās words, Stuart said slowly.
The atmosphere at the table got a little awkward.
Edieās lips were twitching. She was so worried about Stuartās ability to social interaction.
He didnāt make any progress in this aspect these years. When others admire you, you should admire them back. But he didnāt know about this at all.
"Letās...letās start." Edie made a bitter smile to ease the awkward atmosphere.
Stuart poured a bowl of soup for Edie. When Laty gave him the bowl, Stuart neglected her directly, "Do it yourself."
