At night...
The weather in April in A was slightly cold and damp. It kept raining.
It started raining after dusk. It seemed it would not stop.
Scarlet was sitting in her office. She didnāt plan to leave. At the moment, the light outside turned on unexpectedly. Joanna walked in.
"Scarlet, why didnāt you go? Heās called me."
Joanna looked at Scarlet, fixing his eyes on Scarlet.
Strangely enough, no one would expect that Scarlet would walk for Donald after all those unpleasant stories.
Five years ago, because of the negative reports about Donald and complicated relations inside the Lynch, the board of directors inside the Hawk finally voted to give up on Donald. He lost the right to inheritance of the Hawk Real Estate.
Luckily, Lynch got involved in lots of other industries. After leaving the Hawk Real Estate, Donald withdrew from the real estate and entered into the media industry, greatly extending the Hawk Media business.
Donald purchased the magazine for which Scarlet worked with.
Therefore, Donald became Scarletās boss.
Joanna gradually became Scarletās friends.
Hearing Joannaās voice, Scarlet got sober immediately, "Edie? I...I forget the time. Sorry, can I go now? Would it be too late?"
Joanna always regarded herself as Edie. When others told her the truth, she would get crazy. She never recovered. Gradually, everyone got used to it. They stopped telling her. They started calling her "Edie."
Even her own parents didnāt tell her. Now when Joanna saw her parents, she would call them uncle and aunt.
Luckily, Donald loved her. And she gave birth to a son for him three years ago. They lived a happy life from then on.
Joanna was really enthusiastic. After hearing that sheās left Jason, Joanna kept arranging a blind date for her. She thought Scarlet was old enough to get married. Otherwise, she would be so worried about her.
Joannās mental problem was so strange. She would deny that she was Edie every ten or fifteen days.
Her emotion was so unstable.
If Scarlet refused her kindness, she might be irritated. Therefore, Scarlet had no choice but to say yes.
But she really wanted to refuse this. She didnāt plan to get married at all. Therefore, she delayed the date until today. She didnāt expect Joanna would come to remind her.
"Hurry up. He is still waiting for you."
"Okay. Donāt worry about me. Go home. Otherwise, your husband would worry about you."
"Okay. Tomorrow I would bring you your favorite cake."
"Thank you so much, Edie. I need to go. Goodbye." Scarlet took her purse and left.
Soon she arrived at the dating spot. It was a western restaurant in the Mediterranean style. The atmosphere made Scarlet feel quite comfortable.
Itās been ten oāclock. There were still lots of people dining here.
She needed to find a man with a red rose on the table.
Soon, she saw the man wearing a suit. She thought he might be 1.78 meters in height.
He was not so short. Quite handsome and clean.
Joanna told her he was the CEO of a company. He was born in a family with a famous enterprise in A., But this man didnāt rely on his family. He got all these alone.
Scarlet admired this kind of man.
She walked to him. The man stood up and showed a gentle smile, "Miss Yvette, I am Dana Black."
"Nice to meet you," Scarlet greeted politely.
They sat down. Dana asked the waiter to give him the menu. Scarlet didnāt come here to date. She wanted to stop him. But Dana smiled, "Try some snacks here. If we could not be lovers, in the end, we can be friends."
"Well...fine," Scarlet answered.
While ordering, Dana asked Scarlet for opinions. He was so considerate, leaving Scarlet a good impression.
After ordering, they needed to wait for the dishes. Dana found a topic, "You look so young. I heard you are the chief editor of a magazine. You must be a clever woman and beautiful. You really surprised me. Unlike me, Iāve been old enough, but I havenāt achieved anything. Being able to date to you is a great honor for me."
He was worried that his words might embarrass Scarlet, so he made a smile at the end.
Young, ambitious, achieve something, humorous, and talkative.
Why didnāt he have a girlfriend?
Scarlet didnāt believe him.
"You look excellent. Why donāt you have a girlfriend? Why do you need to go on a blind date?"
"I have been so busy with my work before, so I missed a lot. Now I have no enough energy to chase after a girl. Besides, I am not a patient man. I donāt mind blind dates. If I meet a suitable girl for me, I donāt mind developing a relationship with her. It also takes time, donāt you think so?"
"You are right. But I might need to apologize to you. I might be wasting your time tonight. I have something else to do tonight. I need to leave now."
"So I failed, right? Whatās my problem? Would you mind telling me, Miss Yvette." Dana remained with a friendly smile on the face. He looked hurtful. It looked a little amusing, easing the embarrassment at the moment.
"Because....I am still in love with another man. I donāt know how to forget him."
"Ex? Miss Lara told me before."
Miss Lara, he mentioned, was Joanna.
"I heard you love each other so much. Youāve been dating for a long time. But your ex didnāt want to get married to you. So you decided to break off. Am I right?" Dana asked her out of curiosity.
"No. It is me that doesnāt want to get married."
Scarlet took a deep breath and told him the truth.
Hearing this, Dana froze. The expression on his face froze.
Maybe everyone would freeze when hearing this.
A twenty-nine-year-old girl didnāt want to get married.
"Would you mind telling me the reason? Why donāt you want to get married?"
"Sorry. It is personal. So I donāt think we should continue the date. I think I might need to leave now."
"Miss Yvette, we might not be able to be lovers. But we can still make friends, right? Donāt refuse me so soon. It hurts me. At least enjoy the dinner with me. Do you really leave me alone here to eat these myself?"
Dana laughed bitterly.
Hearing these words, Scarlet also felt a little guilty. She sat down and said this dinner was on her treatment. She wanted to apologize to him.
But Dana insisted, "In my world, I never let a woman pay the bill."
While eating, Dana talked a lot. He told Scarlet a lot about his life. Scarlet felt comfortable in the whole process.
Scarlet suddenly asked him a question, "Could you tell me....could you tell me whether men mind getting married to a woman that is not able to get pregnant?"
"Not be able to get pregnant?" Dana froze slightly.
Dana looked towards Scarlet. He knew she was waiting for his answer. He thought for a while and answered, "I believe there must be men that would accept this. But I am sure most men would not accept this, like me. I am the only son of my parents. If my wife could not get pregnant, my parents would disagree with me getting married to her."
