Chapter 377: Chapter 377: Drawing a Few Pies
Nina Jacobs slowly pointed her finger at Damon Young, who was still standing by the door, and the heavyset woman beside him.
"Your supplies were secretly hoarded by them.
Didnât you know?"
"What nonsense are you spouting?!"
A flicker of panic crossed the heavyset womanâs face, and she immediately charged at Nina Jacobs.
But a Metal Shield materialized in front of Nina Jacobs.
"Calista Hughes, sheâs my friend."
Kelly Ainsworthâs reaction surprised Nina Jacobs a little.
It seemed Calista Hughes was actually a bit afraid of the frail Kelly Ainsworth.
"Your friend shows up and immediately starts slandering us?
How could we possibly hoard everyoneâs supplies? Besides, there were hardly any supplies here to begin with."
Damon Young added.
"Yeah, you just got here. How would you know about our supplies?"
someone asked.
"Felix Finch told me.
He said that before he left, besides asking everyone to help look after Freya Finch, he also left a batch of supplies for you."
Nina Jacobs had activated Five Senses Enhancement even before arriving here.
While she was treating Freya Finch just now, she had been keeping a close watch on her surroundings.
And she happened to overhear what Damon Young was saying to someone else.
Felix Finch had never mentioned any supplies here.
But a moment ago, Damon Young had indeed said something about having someone hide the supplies better.
After hearing this, everyone turned to look at Damon Young and Calista Hughes.
"Damon Young, is what she said true?
Did you really embezzle the supplies Felix Finch left for us?"
"Felix Finch used to be the one who found all our supplies. After he left, there was suddenly nothing left. The whole thing was always strange."
"Damon Young must have hidden them!"
"Right, it must be the two of them!"
Seeing that everyone was now targeting Damon Young, Nina Jacobs knew she had achieved her goal.
Still, she offered a helpful reminder, "Felix Finch said that if anyone was hiding the supplies, they would probably be hidden inside discarded oil drums."
"What discarded oil drums? Sheâs lying to you! Donât believe her!"
Damon Young and Calista Hughes tried to stop the crowd that was about to rush out.
But the more they tried to block them, the more desperately the starving crowd pushed their way out.
The pair was no match for all these people, and soon, their pained cries echoed out.
"Time to go,"
Nina Jacobs said.
Before the group could realize what had happened,
it was best for them to leave.
"Letâs go. Letâs go now. We canât stay here any longer."
Juliette Ainsworth reached out and picked up the frail Freya Finch.
Freya Finch was so light that even he could lift her without effort.
"Letâs go. Grandpa will take you to find your dad."
Juliette Ainsworth said.
"If they donât find anything, theyâll definitely come after us."
Ever since the others had rushed out, Kelly Ainsworth had been trembling all over.
She spoke through tears, knowing how furious those people would be if they discovered they had been tricked.
That fury could get them torn to shreds!
"Donât panic. Theyâll find it."
Nina Jacobs pushed open the door and led the two of them out.
The sounds of a struggle could be heard in the distance.
The father and daughter exchanged a look. Did that mean someone had really found the supplies?
"Um, did Felix Finch really say that?"
Kelly Ainsworth couldnât help but ask after they had walked out of the ruins.
No one had come after them yet, so it seemed what Nina Jacobs said was true.
"No."
Nina Jacobs sidestepped a puddle of suspicious liquid that gave off a pungent smell.
Felix Finch had only said that before he left, there were enough supplies here to last everyone for ten days.
But ten days hadnât even passed, and these people were already starving. The only explanation was that someone had hoarded the supplies.
As for where the supplies were hidden, her Little Zombie Rat had found them.
"I canât believe they really hid the supplies. No wonder our supplies were running out so quickly."
Kelly Ainsworth said after a moment of silence.
"Itâs normal. People will do anything to survive."
When people are starving, theyâre capable of anything.
âIf I were in that situation, I probably couldnât be the good guy either.â
"There used to be a Water Element Superpower User here. Back then, people werenât like this..."
Kelly Ainsworth said idly, following in Nina Jacobsâs footsteps.
ăThe next morning.ă
Tristan Lynch and his group were summoned before Zephyra.
"Miss Zephyra, these two are..."
Tristan Lynch was a little surprised to see the Ainsworth father and daughter who had appeared behind her.
âWhere did these two come from?â
But Nina Jacobs didnât answer his question.
"There are several plastic factories nearby. I need all sorts of water storage containers. You can set out now."
Nina Jacobs said.
âSet out now?â
Tristan Lynch and the others were a bit slow to react.
"What? Did you not hear me clearly?" Nina Jacobs asked.
"No, itâs not that. Arenât we supposed to be traveling?"
âWhat do we need water containers for?â
Tristan Lynch asked, confused.
"Iâve been thinking. If we want to develop in Keldorn, we canât be too reliant on Water Element Superpower Users. We need to have a long-term vision."
Nina Jacobs said in a grave and earnest tone.
"And this long-term vision is?"
Lachlan asked.
"You all didnât come to Keldorn just for the mission, did you?
Donât you want to have a place for yourselves here?
Lornwood Base is too restrictive for us. Why donât we build a new base?
Once itâs built, youâll all be the founding members of the new base. Even if I leave Keldorn someday, you are the only ones I could trust to manage it."
Silence fell as Nina Jacobs spoke slowly.
She sighed and continued, "Youâve all worked hard during this time. I know itâs not easy to survive here.
To be able to gather so many Water Element Superpower Users, your abilities are clear for all to see."
Hearing Nina Jacobsâs words, the menâs eyes instantly filled with tears.
âSo someone did see all our hard work.â
âShe was already planning for our future.â
"Miss Zephyra, youâre really going to build a base? Weâll support you with everything weâve got!"
Lachlan said excitedly.
"But building a base isnât that easy. There are too few of us."
Although Corisande was also incredibly excited, she quickly thought of the practical difficulties.
Nina Jacobs nodded. "Thatâs why I need you to collect these water containers.
The one thing Keldorn lacks most is, in the end, water. We have to control as many water sources as possible. Thatâs how weâll attract more people."
"Everything is hard in the beginning, but how will we know if we can do it or not if we donât even try?"
Tristan Lynch got fired up, too.
"Thatâs not a problem! Weâll take some people and go collect them right now.
Miss Zephyra, just tell us if you need anything at all!"
For some time now, they had already been thinking of building their own faction in Keldorn, but he never imagined that Zephyraâs goal was to build an entire base.
"Good. You can go. Iâm leaving this matter in your hands."
Nina Jacobs looked at them with an expression of absolute confidence.
âThereâs strength in numbers. It would be a waste not to use people like Tristan Lynch.â
âI just have to dangle a few more carrots.â
"They... actually believed all that?"
Cordelia couldnât help but ask after the men had left.
"Why shouldnât they believe me? I wasnât lying."
Nina Jacobs stood up and walked into the RV with a smile.
Cordeliaâs eyes went wide.
âNina actually wants to build a base?!â
âThatâs just unbelievable.â
"I knew it."
Silas Crowleyâs eyes were also full of excitement. He knew Nina Jacobs wasnât just talking.
Inside the RV, Felix Finch dropped to his knees before Nina Jacobs with a THUD.
"I, Felix Finch, am at your command from this day forward."
