Chapter 378: Chapter 378: An Excellent Defensive Location
Nina Jacobs helped Felix Finch up.
After an entire night, Freya Finchās condition had visibly improved.
He had woken up for just over ten minutes, eaten a little millet porridge, and then fallen asleep again.
Felix Finch had also heard from the Ainsworth father and daughter about what had happened these past few days.
This included the part where Freya Finch nearly died, and how some people were even waiting to cook him.
If Nina Jacobs hadnāt arrived in time, he feared he would never have been able to forgive himself.
"Get your strength back as soon as you can,"
Nina Jacobs said.
She was still waiting for Felix Finch to kill Achilles Renner for her.
"Donāt worry. Even without this deal, I wouldāve killed him."
Half of Felix Finchās face still looked savage, but his eyes were far more resolute than before.
Nina Jacobs nodded. With Tristan Lynch and his group out gathering supplies, Felix Finch and the others would have more time to recover.
The Ainsworth father and daughter had also recovered their energy.
Juliette Ainsworth didnāt remain idle for a moment, instead starting to salvage usable electrical components and wires in the abandoned factory.
Kelly Ainsworth, being a Gold Element Superpower User, was also able to help with the disassembly.
That evening, after Tristan Lynchās group returned covered in dust, Damian took out numerous brand-new water storage tanks, buckets, and other containers from his spatial storage.
They were enough to fill half the factory courtyard.
"I knew I could count on you all,"
Nina Jacobs said with satisfaction.
āLooks like that guy Damianās spatial storage is pretty big.ā
Though Damian wasnāt one for talking, he let out a happy chuckle at Nina Jacobsā praise.
Tristan Lynch discovered that the few people who had stayed behind, including the Water Element Superpower User Theresa Thorne, had already gotten very friendly with Zephyra.
With the new water tanks, Theresa Thorne immediately started filling them, muttering:
"Thereās no way Iām going to be outdone by a cat."
"A cat? What cat? Why are you competing with a cat?"
Tristan Lynch asked.
Theresa Thorne was going through a rebellious phase and had an eccentric personality. Usually, they had to threaten and intimidate her just to get her to produce a little extra water.
Seeing her store water so diligently was a first.
"I just have to compete,"
Theresa Thorne simply replied.
Nina Jacobs, meanwhile, took out a map that now had several new places circled on it.
"There are still plenty of useful things around here. Tomorrow, youāll go to these spots."
They were a few clothing and shoe factories.
"Is this stuff really useful?"
Tristan Lynch asked, looking over the implied list of goods. It actually included things like raw cotton, padded shoes, and winter clothes.
"What if itās useful in the future?
As someone managing a base, you have to think proactively, right?"
Nina Jacobs asked.
"Right, right, right. Better safe than sorry, right, Miss Zephyra?"
Lachlan said fawningly.
"If Tristan is tired, he can rest for a day. Iāll go with everyone else."
Ever since witnessing Zephyraās power, Shane Shepherd had been keeping his head down for the past two days.
Every time he remembered his foolish attempt to ambush her, he wanted to slap himself.
"Who said Iām tired? Weāre meeting here at 6 a.m. tomorrow. No slacking off!"
Tristan Lynch shot a glare at Shane Shepherd.
Ever since he learned that Zephyra planned to build a base, he had faintly sensed a threat.
It seemed like every single one of them wanted to take his place.
He had to work even harder to prove himself.
Nina Jacobs simply pretended not to notice what they were all thinking.
After two more days of effortlessly collecting supplies, the group finally continued on their journey.
Once they were back on the road, Tristan Lynch said with some concern:
"I wonder if Achilles Renner and his group went back to look for us."
They had actually rested here for five days.
Though they had gathered a lot of supplies.
"There are only two places heād look. If he didnāt find us, heāll just go back. Heās that strong, after all,"
Lachlan said dismissively.
"I, for one, hope we miss him,"
Shane Shepherd said.
After all, Zephyra trusted them now, and it looked like they were about to become her right-hand men.
If Achilles Renner showed up, he would inevitably steal their thunder.
After Shane Shepherd said this, the others in the car fell into a knowing silence.
"Is Achilles Renner very strong?"
In the RV at the back, Nina Jacobs suddenly asked Felix Finch, who was playing Five-in-a-Row with Freya Finch.
A few more days had passed, and Freya Finch had almost fully recovered.
The father and son had spent all their time inside the vehicle these past few days, so Tristan Lynch and the others didnāt know he existed.
"Very. But in a one-on-one fight, itās hard to say whoās stronger."
A sharp glint flashed in Felix Finchās eyes.
Achilles Renner also had two deputies who were very skilled at coordinating with him, which was why he had been at a disadvantage back then.
"Donāt worry, Nina. Dad said heāll protect us from now on. Heāll protect everyone."
Freya Finch heard Nina Jacobsā question and, thinking she was afraid of someone, looked up and said.
"Freya, donāt say such things."
Felix Finch ruffled his six-year-old sonās head.
āFreya had been spending time with Nina Jacobs these past few days. Heād even secretly told me that Nina was someone heād seen in his dreams, even though he had never met her back then.ā
"Iām not talking nonsense. My dad really is a great hero,"
Freya Finch said earnestly.
"Thatās right. Your dad really is a great hero. He saved a lot of us in the past."
Juliette Ainsworth was unscrewing screws from a circuit board, one by one.
He and his daughter had made many preparations, and Nina Jacobs had even helped him retrieve a number of solar panels.
"I think I know the place Tristan Lynch was talking about."
Tobin said. He had chatted with Tristan Lynch for a bit before they got in the vehicles.
From Tristan Lynchās description, he had deduced the location.
"What place?"
Cordelia asked curiously.
Nina Jacobs looked over as well.
Tristan Lynch had refused to mention the place by name, only saying that there were too many people and prying eyes, and that they would know when they arrived.
"It should be... Gralem Prison..."
Tobin answered.
A prison?
Cordelia was instantly dumbfounded.
"Itās fine. If it really doesnāt work out, we can just find another place, canāt we?"
Silas Crowley quickly reassured everyone.
A place like a prison did sound a bit strange.
Unexpectedly, however, Nina Jacobs seemed quite interested after hearing this.
āPutting aside the unsavory name, a place like a prison usually came with ready-made high walls and defense systems.ā
āPlus watchtowers, plenty of enclosed buildings, and even the water and power supply systems might be independent.ā
āNo wonder Tristan Lynch and his group were so secretive about it.ā
Tobin hadnāt been entirely sure at first, but after the convoy took several more detours that afternoon, he was now absolutely certain.
Their destination was the pre-apocalypse Gralem Prison.
It was remote, isolated, and surrounded by very few roads, by no means a major hub.
After getting out of the vehicle, Nina Jacobs looked at the vast complex of buildings ahead, a look of awe in her eyes.
"They say Gralem Prison is the largest prison complex in Drakonia. Looks like they were right."
Silas Crowley, Reginald Sutton, and the others had never been here before either.
Although it had a heavy, oppressive feeling from the outside, just as Nina Jacobs said, this place could be an excellent refuge.
Nina Jacobs looked up at the top of the high walls. The surrounding perimeter wall alone was a good ten meters high, if not more.
Before them were two black-painted, cast-iron gates. Behind those heavy gates, another gate had been added.
The surrounding zombies had all been cleared out.
Tristan Lynch took out a Signal Gun and fired a shot straight into the air.
"Since we have a Water Element Superpower User with us, we naturally have to take more precautions. I hope you all donāt mind."
Tristan Lynch waited for the gates to open.
Nina Jacobs, along with Cordelia and the others behind her, also grew tense.
