âI need a source to use the power of Eternity,â Daniel let out a sigh.
Unlike the Law of Death, which he could use thanks to the Death Tablet, unfortunately, he had no source for the power of Eternity.
There was also the issue that he couldnât have two Supreme Sourcesâbut fortunately, after gaining the Undying Death Body and the Immortal Dragon Soul, he was fairly confident that his body could handle up to three Supreme Sources.
âBut where am I supposed to find an Eternity Source?â he frowned a little. And not just any sourceâhe needed a Supreme one.
This wasnât something one could easily obtain. He doubted heâd be lucky enough to get his hands on an Eternity Source the way he had with the Death Tablet.
"Something wrong?" Evangelin asked after seeing the frown on Danielâs face.
"Itâs nothing," Daniel shook his head and pushed his thoughts aside for now.
Just being able to comprehend the Supreme Law of Eternity freely and to such a degree was already a win. And there was still another Paragonâs sermon leftânot to mention the Prophetâs.
Still, he was curious if, like with the Law of Death, there would be a restrictionâwould he be limited to only understanding two percent of the Law of Eternity, or could the Prophetâs sermon help break that limit?
"My dear followers, if you have any questions, feel free to ask," Paragon Velmiranâs voice echoed and once again captured everyoneâs attention.
"Great Paragon, is it true the Prophet plans to choose a successor?"
"Why would the Prophet want to choose a successor?"
"What about him? Does that mean our Prophet will vanish like the others?"
The pilgrims didnât hesitate and began throwing out question after question.
Seeing the commotion, the Paragon raised his hand. A faint wave of power was released, causing a slight shiver through everyone present.
But they all calmed down and silently turned to him.
"Even I donât know whether the divine Prophet will choose a successor. Itâs entirely possible that the choice will be left to the people," Paragon Velmiran said with a smile on his face.
Contrary to what the people believed, Paragons didnât actually have a close relationship with the Prophet. The man was extremely reclusive, only showing himself when it was necessaryâor when he chose to.
Velmiran himself couldnât even remember the last time he had spoken with the Prophet.
Only that girlâhis discipleâwas allowed to see the Prophet whenever she wished. That alone had made both him and the other Paragons jealous.
The people glanced at one another, and then began asking more questions, one by one.
The Paragon answered all of them patiently and enthusiastically.
"He really plays the role of a leader well," Daniel sighed, observing Velmiranâs attitude and behavior.
"Unfortunately. Why do you think heâs been able to spread such a ridiculous ideologyâand actually get people to believe it?" Evangelin scoffed.
"His supporters are the majority here. It seems his cult has the highest number of followers," he glanced again at the crowd of pilgrims.
Evangelin didnât say anything. What Daniel said was true. In fact, the number of followers in both cults was roughly equalâthough the Endurers had a slight edge.
After that, Paragon Velmiran said his goodbyes and stepped down from the platform. The pilgrims made way for him as he exited the area.
"Whoâs the next Paragon?" Daniel asked the saintess.
"Paragon Evern, leader of the Ashbound cult. I already told you about his ideology," Evangelin replied without even looking at him.
It didnât take long for another old man to appear. This one had long golden hair and a neat short beard.
The Ashbound followers stood up. Their number was almost the sameâmaybe slightly fewer.
Still, Daniel spotted someone among themâa red-haired boy he had seen at the Golden Chance shop while buying the Legendary Stone.
âSo heâs part of the Ashbound cult, and he got his Paragon badge from Paragon Evern,â Daniel thought to himselfâbut his instincts told him things werenât that simple.
He frowned a little and scanned the whole area again. He spotted several other strange individualsâespecially a boy with blue hair who had a notable aura.
âThey might be players.â Daniel raised his guard against them, then looked back toward the Paragon.
Instead of a simple robe, Evern wore a magnificent, decorated one. A powerful and majestic aura radiated from him. As he passed through the pilgrims and made his way to the platform, he gestured for everyone to sit before doing so himself.
Once everyone was seated, he too sat down.
"Ha-ha, I greet all the dear followers of the Eternity Faith who have come here today. Welcome," his energetic voice echoed.
"I see many new faces. Praise the great god Horvand for leading more beings to take shelter in our faith." His gaze swept across the crowd.
For a moment, he paused after seeing Evangelin, but didnât dwell on it. The Prophetâs disciple had odd behaviorâit wasnât strange for her to appear here.
"I know youâre tired, but despite that, you still show us Paragons of Eternity this much respect by staying seatedâand I truly thank you all from the bottom of my heart."
"Iâll do my best to share everything I understand about the path of Eternity with you. It is the right of all of us, followers of the great god Horvand, to reach true Eternity," Evern said with a smile, then immediately began his sermon.
Most of the pilgrims had come here specifically for the Paragonsâ sermonsâwasting their time with small talk would be foolish.
Meanwhile, a secret conversation was unfolding through telepathy.
âWhat a flashy and overly energetic bastardâcompletely different from the last one,â Zarek said sarcastically.
âAgreed. But I expected the first Paragon giving a sermon to be the one we were supposed to approach for our request. But it wasnât him, and itâs not this one either. Both of them are old men. So whereâs the middle-aged Paragon?â Velina asked with a frown.
âMaybe it was just a disguiseâor it could be a different Paragon. Donât forget, there are three of them,â Rowan replied calmly.
âMakes sense. So what now... do we start the attack?â Velina asked again.
âOf course not. We should take advantage of the sermon. Iâm close to truly grasping the Law of EternityâIâm not throwing that opportunity away,â Rowan answered.
âI agree with blue-hair,â Zarek said as well.
Velina didnât reply. The decision was made: they would attack after the sermon.
