As the sermon began, golden auras once again surrounded all the pilgrims. Both the Endurers and the Ashbound cults were listening attentively.
When it came to a sermon, it didnât matter which branch or cult one belonged toâthe only thing that truly mattered was understanding the path of Eternity.
Daniel also took advantage of this opportunity, and once again, a series of system notifications from the Mother System began to appear:
> [ You have successfully comprehended 0.1% of the Law of Eternity ]
[ You have successfully comprehended 0.1% of the Law of Eternity ]
[ You have successfully comprehended 0.1% of the Law of Eternity ]
[ You ... ]
With each passing moment, his comprehending of this Supreme Law deepened. Just like he had grasped the concept of death, now he could start to grasp Eternity too.
Unfortunately, he had no Eternity Source. Otherwise, in this situation, he might have been able to use it to refine all his organs with the power of Eternity.
Maybe he could have even evolved his body or soul? But those were all just what ifsâthere was nothing he could actually do...
> [ Ding ... You have reached the current comprehension limit of the Law of Eternity and cannot advance further until you reach Rank B ]
[ Current comprehension: 2% ]
âFigured as much,â Daniel thought and opened his eyes, suddenly realizing that none of the Paragonâs words made any sense to him anymore. He let out a quiet sigh.
He had guessed that after reaching 2% comprehension of the Law of Eternity, he wouldnât be able to understand any moreâbut the fact that his guess turned out to be true still left him a bit frustrated.
Even so, he had managed to comprehend two Supreme Laws before even reaching Rank B! If the world found out, theyâd either go insane from the shock or refuse to believe it.
Itâs important to note that Awakened individuals only comprehend elemental powers before reaching Rank B. The reason is simpleâtheir spiritual power canât handle understanding Laws yet.
Only monstrous geniuses can comprehend Laws before Rank B. As for Supreme Laws? Thatâs nearly unheard of before Rank B.
"Looks like you opened your eyes a bit earlier this time," Evangelin noticed Daniel and asked curiously.
She was sure Daniel still had the ability to keep goingâso why did he stop?
"Well, I hit my limit."
"Your limit?" Her (she) eyebrows rose.
"Forget it. Did you find any trace of the saboteurs?" Daniel changed the subject.
"Not really. Everyoneâs been busy listening to the sermon," Evangelin sighed. Since the start of the sermon, she had scanned the area several times, but nothing had happened.
She hadnât even found a single suspicious person. Everyone seemed to be genuinely focused on the sermon.
âIf the saboteurs are going to be players, then theyâll definitely use this opportunity tooâtheyâre probably trying to comprehend the Law of Eternity. So whatever theyâre planning, itâs going to happen after the sermon ends,â Daniel thought while listening to her.
He glanced again at the red-haired and blue-haired boys. He had a strong feeling both were playersâbut just two people couldnât pull off anything major.
So it was likely that other players were hidden among the pilgrims as wellâjust waiting for the signal.
Still, he didnât dwell on it too much. The best option was to wait and let them reveal themselves.
The sermon ended two hours later. The golden auras around the pilgrims slowly faded, and everyone opened their eyes.
They all began thanking the Paragon. Thanks to the sermons of both Paragons today, their understanding of the path of Eternity had increased significantly.
To reach that level of insight would normally take years of effortâyet they had achieved it in just four hours.
That only made them even more excited for the Prophetâs upcoming sermon.
"Thereâs no need to thank me. I am a Paragonâit is my duty to help my followers," Paragon Evern said with a smile on his face.
However, at the same time, he smiled even more deeply in his heart. Todayâs sermon had been a success. He could see admiration for him in the eyes of many pilgrims.
Maybe he would finally close the small gap that existed between the number of his followers and Velmiranâs.
"As I promised, now you may ask your questions freely," he continued.
"However, if you have a question, raise your handâI donât want any chaos."
Immediately, many of the pilgrims raised their hands. Evern looked around, then pointed to the one farthest on the left side of the area so they could ask their question.
The person stood up and asked. The Paragon responded without hesitation, then pointed to the next person.
âTheyâre asking questions too?â Daniel glanced again at the red-haired and blue-haired boys. They had also raised their hands.
He was a little curious about what kind of questions they wanted to ask. All the other pilgrims were asking questions about the Eternal Faith, the path of Eternity, and the Ashbound cult.
Luckily, he didnât have to wait long. Soon it was the blue-haired boyâs turn.
"You thereâstand and ask your question."
Rowan smiled. Seeing the Paragon point to him, he stood upâand at the same time, sent a mental message to all the other players to enter standby mode.
"Paragon Evern, Iâm one of your followers who came from very far away. Before I ask my question, I just wanted to thank you for the incredible sermon," Rowan said with sincere admiration in his voice.
"Oh, so youâre an Ashbound? Ha-ha! Alright, young man, ask whatever you want. As your Paragon, Iâll answer anything," Paragon Evern replied with a smile.
It was obviousâhe treated his own followers, the Ashbound, with much more respect and warmth.
What he didnât know was that this one would bring about the end of it all.
"I wanted to ask... In our faith, what do we do with Infidels?"
"That depends. What exactly do you mean by Infidels? If you mean the followers of other religions, theyâre not Infidelsâthey simply worship different gods, and thatâs not considered infidelity. If you mean people who follow no religion at allâtheyâre not Infidels either. Theyâre just people who havenât found their true path yet. We can invite them in, but if they refuse, so be itâwe are not allowed to force anyone," Evern said after thinking for a moment.
Unlike most religions, the concept of Infidel didnât really exist in theirs. In fact, even most other religions only considered those who actively opposed them to be Infidels.
"I see. But, Great Paragon, I meant those who do believe in the Eternity Faith... yet follow the wrong path," Rowan said, still smiling.
