“It has something to do with the piles of bones?” Lingshan asked.

“Yes.” Lin Yi nodded. “There’s something alive thing in here, and those corpses got eaten by it.”

“Tomb guardians?” Xiaoke said in surprise.

“What are those?” Lin Yi wasn’t an actual graverobber. He didn’t know about this.

“Tomb guardians are the protectors of the tomb. They used to be the housekeepers of the original tomb owner, and their descendants took the job after they died, with their descendants after that, or it might be the housekeeper’s housekeepers… But something like this is really rare now.” Xiaoke said.

“You’re saying that there are tom guardians in here, and they ate those people?’ Lin Yi asked.

“It might be people, but it might be a beast as well. Tomb guarding beasts was recorded in some ancient graverobber’s manual. It’s a type of spirit beast that protected the tomb specifically, living in it and protecting it. “I see.” Lin Yi nodded. This spirit beast was probably similar to that Fire Spirit’s fruit his old man mentioned, it was one of the extremely rare things, to the point where people didn’t believe in it anymore. “Then, these guys would probably meet the legendary spirit beast of the tomb then, that’s quite interesting.”

“Then will they… All get eaten?” Lingshan frowned involuntarily.

Lingshan was getting pissed, almost jumping out to point at Lin Yi and yelling at him. Just why wasn’t she a candidate? Why was getting some small thief girl as a small wife better than considering her?! Damn it!

“Ha…” Lin Yi felt that this Xiaoke girl was quite interesting.

“What’s your net worth?” Xiaoke suddenly asked after some silence.

“It’s not a big deal, just considering what your net worth is. If it’s worth, me being your small wife and all. I’m just wondering how much dowry you could give?” Xiaoke seemed to be seriously considering it.

“I was joking.” Lin Yi said, feeling a bit bad once he saw Xiaoke consider it so seriously.

He could tell what Xiaoke was thinking- she thought that this couple must be very rich; after all, they were tomb robbers. Perhaps she thought that helping others raid tombs was too dangerous, especially this one time, where she would die if she weren’t careful. This was basically her way of selling herself for a good price, ensuing in the orphanage being well-funded for in the future. She might really have nodded if it was a good price.

In her eyes, she didn’t care about her own happiness at all, only for the orphanage…

“Haha, I was joking too…” Xiaoke smiled.

In truth, Lin Yi had guessed right- that was exactly what she was thinking. If Lin Yi could take out money that was really really good for the orphanage, making them not worry about finances and stuff for a long period of time, Xiaoke was willing to be his small wife, even a small mistress!

The four stayed there for a while more, and after half an hour, a rushed collection of footsteps rushed at them.

“THey’re back?” Lingshan said after hearing it.

“Seem to be running back?” Yutian frowned.

“This is bad!” Lin Yi’s heart dipped- the jade signal was getting more and more intense, meaning that they were bringing the trouble back with them!

What followed was screaming after the footsteps!

“Help, help!! Ghost- there’s a ghost in this tomb… It’s going to eat us..!”

It was Old Hei’s voice, and his voice was clearly completely rattled, a piercing shriek! But even so, he kept calling out. “Elder Yu, wait for me, don’t leave me behind!!”
