Jane Sampsonās voice carried a hint of urgency, "Besides fearing that Iāll be tracked and something might happen to me, Iām also worried about James Black."
"I understand. Iāll immediately arrange for two bodyguards to protect you. Until the bodyguards arrive, you mustnāt leave your assistantās side and avoid going to less crowded places."
"What about James Black?" Jane Sampson asked.
"Iāll talk to the Old Sir; he should have a way to get in touch with someone," Brooke Black reassured Jane Sampson, "Donāt worry, it might not even be something related to James Black over there, donāt scare yourself."
"Also, the bodyguards will probably arrive by tomorrow morning, and if thereās no flight tonight, then theyāll be here by tomorrow afternoon. Until then, stay safe, and donāt leave your hotel and film crew," Brooke Black advised a bit more.
"I understand," Jane Sampson, feeling timid, thought repeatedly in her heart.
Before the bodyguards arrived, she wouldnāt step a foot outside her hotel room door without the company of Coco Edwards and Harry Little Money, and even if she went to the film crew, she would avoid unpopulated places.
Jane Sampson also, for the first time, realized what it meant to be on the brink of danger.
Previously, Rock Bell had mentioned arranging a bodyguard for her, but Jane Sampson didnāt like being flanked by a crowd when traveling, so she declined.
Thinking that having Coco Edwards and Harry Little Money with her would be fine, as she only went out for filming and stayed within the hotel and film crew anyway.
When shopping usually, she dressed very low-key to not be recognized.
Or else she had James Black by her side and didnāt worry about any danger at all.
After hanging up the phone, Coco Edwards checked around Jane Sampsonās room, then asked her, "Why donāt I stay in the room with you tonight?"
Jane Sampson almost agreed without hesitation, "Okay, otherwise Iām afraid I wouldnāt dare to close my eyes for the entire night."
As they were speaking, Jane Sampsonās room door suddenly began to ring. Coco Edwards jumped up immediately, looked toward the doorway, and then breathed a sigh of relief, "Itās Mr. Carter."
Coco Edwards opened the door and looked at James Carter standing in the doorway, "Mr. Carter, why are you not resting so late?"
Jane Sampson had been filming with another crew that afternoon, and by the time she finished, it was almost 8 oāclock. After returning to the hotel, it was already past nine. After returning, she was on the phone with Brooke Black for a while.
So by this time, it was already nearing 10 p.m.
"I heard from the crew that Jane hadnāt eaten much of her dinner, so I prepared some late-night snack for her," James Carter said as he carried the late-night snack inside, also sensing Coco Edwardsā tense demeanor.
Once Coco Edwards closed the door, James Carter lowered his voice and asked, "What happened? I saw your assistant, Harry Little Money, checking around the corridor and mumbling something softly at the door, but I couldnāt catch what she was saying."
Jane Sampson sighed, moved next to James Carter, and said, "I might be being followed."
If James Carter were just her Mr. Carter, Jane Sampson wouldnāt have told him about such a thing.
But now itās different. James Carter is her brother, so Jane Sampson wouldnāt hide such matters from her family.
"I still donāt know what the people following me want or why theyāre targeting me, so, Brother, itās better if you donāt interact with me too much these couple of days. Iām afraid you might get caught up in this," Jane Sampson said as she took the late-night snack from James Carterās hands, sniffed it, and looked delighted.
