"Thanks, Brother, thatâs perfect. Iâm really hungry. Iâve been on edge all day today, so I had no appetite for dinner."
James Carter frowned, "Were you stalked? Was it fans?"
"Not sure, doesnât quite feel like fans," Jane Sampson said, "Typical fans usually donât have anti-reconnaissance skills."
"You underestimate fans nowadays," James Carter patted Jane Sampsonâs shoulder and said, "Now, with the internet so advanced, all kinds of knowledge, anyone can search online and find it. So, learning a bit of anti-reconnaissance skills isnât a problem for those with the intent."
James Carter shared his own experience with Jane Sampson, "I encountered a fan before, a university girl. She loved watching all kinds of detective and mystery type movies and novels, and learned anti-reconnaissance and stalking skills. She followed me for nearly a week before my assistant discovered her."
"What happened later?" Jane Sampson asked, "If your assistant hadnât discovered her, what would the fan have done?"
"Later, we brought this fan in. She said she just wanted to get close to me, see me up close, with no intention to reveal herself or affect my life. So, you might have encountered a fan like this," James Carter reassured Jane Sampson, "So donât scare yourself. I live across from you, if anything happens, you call out once, Iâll hear you. My assistant lives in the room next to mine."
James Carter only brought one assistant, he explained, "My assistant had been with the guard team for two or three years; heâs pretty skilled."
Jane Sampson chuckled, "Your words really put me at ease. After today, at the latest, my auntie will have a bodyguard arranged for me by tomorrow afternoon."
Not leaving immediately, James Carter watched as Jane Sampson, with her refreshed appetite, finished the late-night snack he had brought her, chatting with her for a while before leaving her room.
Coco Edwards stayed in Jane Sampsonâs room in the evening, not going back to her own room.
With Coco Edwardsâs company and thinking that James Carter and his assistant were living across the door, Jane Sampsonâs initial worry slowly faded.
Before sleep, after an hour of playing games with Peter Gingery and others, all the annoying matters were forgotten.
Yet, when sleeping, Jane Sampson and Coco Edwards still didnât turn off the roomâs electric light.
The electric light remained on throughout the night, and both of them had a good nightâs sleep until daybreak.
Jane Sampson was awakened by Coco Edwards.
"Jane, wake up. Something seems to have happened outside; thereâs lots of noise," Coco Edwards shook Jane Sampson awake and after, she quickly dressed and headed toward the doorway.
Coco Edwards didnât rashly open the door to find out but first peeped through the door viewer and saw quite a number of film crew gathered outside the door, only then did she feel relieved.
Then, she explained to the still groggy Jane Sampson in the bed. "Not sure whatâs going on outside, itâs all our film crewâs artists and staff in the corridor; Mr. Carter and his assistant are also there. It looks like thereâs no danger. You wait in the room, Iâll go check it out."
"Okay, you be careful too," Jane Sampson rubbed her face, stretched her neck, slowly waking up, and rubbed her eyes as she got out of bed to find her slippers.
Coco Edwardsâs sleeping posture was even more unruly than hers; she spent almost the first half of the night fighting Coco over the quilt.
