Zora was about to answer, but suddenly her body shuddered, and a figure flashed through her mind. The words she was about to say were swallowed down, and her eyes were full of disbelief.

Fenny looked at her shocked gaze and smiled proudly. “You clearly drove Xaviera Evans away!”

Everyone had puzzled expressions on their faces. What did this have to do with Xaviera Evans?

Zora’s lips trembled slightly. “No… it’s impossible!”

“Zora, stop pretending! You are not friends with Windrop Entertainment’s chairman at all! Today, Windrop’s chairman came to the company to hand over the tasks in person, but you drove him away. That person is Xaviera Evans!”

Anger and frustration in Fenny’s heart poured out at Zora. After her furious shout, the hall fell silent, and even the sound of breathing stopped.

After a few seconds of silence, Zora hesitantly said, “What nonsense are you talking about! I am friends with Windrop’s chairman. How could he be Xaviera?”

“Then, who is the chairman in Miss Hughes’ words? Let’s call him out to confront us.” A man’s voice came from the entrance of the hall. Everybody looked up to see Jared Griffel come in with Windrop’s executives.

“Miss Xaviera Evans has been the chairman for six years. Didn’t you know, Miss Hughes? If you were unaware, why would you go around claiming to be friends with Windrop’s chairman?”

Jared’s words were light, but they felt like a harsh slap in Zora’s face, causing her face to turn red with shame.

When Natural Sound’s top executives saw Jared, they quickly greeted him, “We are honored by Mr. Griffel’s presence, and we apologize for not receiving you properly. Today’s oversight is our fault; please don’t hold it against us.”

Jared glanced at them and said indifferently, “Fortunately, Mr. Caleb Mamet and the chairman are husband and wife, otherwise they would never have agreed to the merger due to some people’s influence. Mr. Mamet already knows that you have angered the chairman and is very angry. However, the chairman is kind-hearted and took pity on you, saying that we must work together in the future. However… ”

As they listened to Jared’s words, the executives’ hearts tightened. The next second, Jared’s gaze fell on Zora, and he snorted, “When our two companies merge, we will become one family. But how did an outsider like Miss Hughes become executive director?”

Everyone gasped for breath. They all knew that Zora became the executive director because of her claim to be friends with Windrop’s chairman, but now that Jared had publicly clarified the matter, it was clear that she’d lied.

“Miss Hughes is not from Windrop, nor from Natural Sound. What qualifications do you have to be an executive director? Is it because you want to steal trade secrets? The company’s legal department has already filed a lawsuit against you. I hope Miss Hughes is mentally prepared; don’t ever impersonate anyone else to avoid trouble.”

Natural Sound’s top executives chimed in, “It’s also our fault for not verifying this and believing Zora’s words. Thankfully the chairman is magnanimous and not holding it against us. But Zora Hughes and Director Marshall’s actions have seriously harmed the company’s interests; they should indeed be sued!”

Fenny knew she would pay a price but hadn’t expected the company to sue her. She cried and pleaded for mercy, but Jared’s face remained cold.

Zora lowered her head and clenched her fists tightly, with ringing in her ears and the surrounding voices melding together. She couldn’t hear a single word; her mind was filled with Jared’s words. Why would he sue her?

“Miss Hughes, our chairman doesn’t want to bother with you, but Mr. Mamet is furious. The handover ceremony he carefully prepared was ruined by an outsider, so what kind of punishment do you think awaits you?”

Zora stepped back, her eyes full of horror, “What are you going to do? I am Miss Hughes of the Hughes family!”

Jared sneered and said with scorn, “The Hughes family? What does it mean in Mr. Mamet’s eyes? Miss Hughes, wait for the lawyer’s letter!”

Zora glared back with a vicious gaze and clenched her teeth, ignoring everyone’s disdainful looks as she hurriedly grabbed her bag and escaped from Natural Sound Entertainment. As soon as she reached the underground parking lot, she heard an angry yell from a woman behind her: “Zora Hughes!”

She turned around, only to see Fenny with bloodshot eyes, rushing towards her. Grabbing her hair, Fenny screamed in rage, “You slut! How dare you deceive me? You ruined my life; after so many years of hard work, I ended up not only jobless but also being sued!”
