Chapter 2029: Extra: A Brand New Life 144 Chapter 2029: Extra: A Brand New Life 144 “Yeah, you’d better not catch a cold, it’s already gotten chilly outside, go on up,” Mrs. Zhou urged as well.

“Mhm.” Mo Yaoyao obediently went upstairs.

It wasn’t until Mo Yaoyao disappeared at the second-floor stairwell that Mrs. Zhou’s mood perked up again, “We’ll let it go for today, but starting tomorrow I’ll begin arranging your dates one by one.”

“Suit yourself, but don’t disrupt my work, and you need to ask me in advance when you set up any meeting times to see if I’m free.”

“Why must you make things so complicated?” Mrs. Zhou glared at him.

Zhou Ping still looked upstairs, leaned back on the sofa with his legs outstretched, arms open resting on its back, as if to say dead pigs aren’t afraid of boiling water, “I never wanted to do this in the first place. If you don’t agree to these terms, then fine, I won’t go at all.”

“Alright, alright,” Mrs. Zhou immediately compromised, “I’ll check your schedule before I arrange anything, if you don’t have time, I absolutely won’t set up any meetings.”

Zhou Ping couldn’t be bothered to talk about this anymore, “Tonight I’m taking Yaoyao out to eat, Song Yun got a girlfriend and he’s treating us to dinner, Jiang Yue and Xue Yan will be there too.”

“Even he, with his social anxiety, has found a girlfriend now, you!” Mrs. Zhou got irritated all over again.

“Hahaha, Mom, I just cannot talk about this with you,” Zhou Ping laughed loudly. Seeing Mo Yaoyao come down with an added jacket, he hurriedly called out, “Yaoyao, come down quickly, let’s go out. If I stay a moment longer, your Mrs. Zhou is really going to start hitting me.”

In the days that followed, Zhou Ping was continuously set up on blind dates.

Eldest Ms. Zhou and Second Ms. Zhou would phone to tease Zhou Ping, and he would curse them jokingly, “With three siblings in the house, I’m the one who has to bear it all, and you’re still making fun of me? If you keep it up, I’ll stop drawing fire for you, and let Mom spread some of her firepower to you.”

“Haha, we’re sorry.” The two sisters immediately apologized. “But really, doesn’t it annoy you?”

“Of course it’s annoying, but what can I do, Mom cries,” Zhou Ping replied.

“She wouldn’t cry if you didn’t come home. She just puts on a show in front of you, behind your back we never hear Dad mentioning that Mom has cried. Dad says she’s all good when you’re not around. It’s Mom’s strategy, forcing you to give in.”

“None of you come home, it doesn’t feel like a family. I even suspect Yaoyao learned from you all, if I didn’t often go to school to bring her back, she wouldn’t want to come home either, at most she’d just drop by.”

“Yaoyao is sensitive. If I were her, I’d be sensitive too, suddenly living in someone else’s house. Even if we treat her well, she must feel like she’s living off others.”

“That’s why I need to come home more often.”

“Suit yourself, you’re not a kid anymore, we’re not going to boss you around.”

“And you don’t want me bossing you around, right?”

The two sisters were amused and laughed, “Kid, we’re not children either, we know what we’re doing.”

“Fine, I’m hanging up now,” Zhou Ping said without any sentiment.

On the video call, the two sisters laughed heartily before eventually ending the call.

Just then, the phone rang with an incoming call. Zhou Ping glanced at it, saw it was from his mother, and felt a headache coming on. These days, every time she called, it was either about setting up a blind date or nothing at all.

But in the end, Zhou Ping still answered the call, listlessly saying, “Mom, not today, I have work, I have to discuss a cooperation case with a CEO.”

“How about tomorrow?” Mrs. Zhou wasn’t the least bit discouraged.

If he wasn’t free tomorrow, then the day after tomorrow, if not then, then the day after that, or else he’d be in for a scolding.

It had been this way for some time now.

So Zhou Ping didn’t say he wasn’t free tomorrow, he just said, “Tomorrow afternoon, from three to four, I have an hour free.”
