Chapter 458: Two Peas in a Pod
âI hope that money helps them a littleâ mumbled Genesis as he whistled while walking away, feeling good that he might have done a good deed tonight.
After lending a little helping hand to that grandmother and her probably grandkids, Genesis slowly made his way back to the Inn while enjoying the sights around him.
âDamn, I actually forgot that I wanted to get laid tonightâ
As mentioned, his purpose for going out tonight was really just to get laid as he was feeling incredibly horny, but with the advent of those gangsters earlier, he had forgotten all about it, and most especially when he got distracted with all those incredibly delicious street food earlier that getting laid was immediately thrown at the back of his mind.
He just remembered it now as he is making his way back.
âEven though Iâve only explored so little of this place, I have to admit that this city is really beautiful. Though I still wouldnât even think of living here with the language barrier between the locals and to add, it would be really lonely since I only know one person from this country, with the exception of the aunties that I got acquainted with tonightâ
Along the road, Genesis looked at the time on his phone.
âTheyâve probably arrived there by now, right?â
Somewhere along the Buksan Mountain.
âThe path weâve taken is really steep, are you sure weâre on the right path?â
Monk finally couldnât hold it in and asked when he noticed that the path they are taking is getting steeper by the minute.
ââŠâ
âUhh.actually..Iâm not sureâ
Sun Bin replied to him after hesitating for a few moments, and whatâs worse, she even sounded not sure of her answer which immediately made Monk halt in his tracks and raise his voice at her.
âO-oi! Weâve already got this far and youâre only telling me that now!?â
Monk couldnât help but raise his voice when he realized that thereâs a huge possibility that they are actually lost right now.
âShut it! Itâs been a while since Iâve been to this placeâ replied Sun Bin, looking a little flustered.
With a snort, Genesis asked, âSo how long has that âitâs been a while beenâ?â
âA few years or soâ
âWhat!? Thatâs like a really long time already. The terrain probably hasnât changed much, but the flora certainly did!â
âJust shut up will you? I had left markings here whenever I wanted some alone time on this mountain back in the day. Why do you think Iâm taking my time looking around?â
Annoyed by his ramblings, Sun Bin also snapped back at him.
ââŠâ
Soon, there was a short silence between them as they kept trekking through the rugged path.
âHey Sun Bin, can I ask you something personal?â asked Monk after the short silence.
While hacking away at the dense overgrown bush in front of her, Sun Bin replied, âYeah, as long as itâs not too personal, why notâ
Genesis looked at the busy Sun Bin before him and took in a deep breath before saying, âWell, itâs just this thought suddenly occurred to me while we were walking, and well, itâs getting a little boring and Iâve gotten a little curious tooâ
âJust spill out already old manâ
âFine, fine, so here goes. You, and Genesis have dated for at least a couple of years, right? But then out of the blue, you two suddenly broke up, and I guess, itâs okay to ask now, so what really happened that night? When you two came back from that job?â
Sun Bin quickly came to an immediate halt when she heard him, so she slowly turned around to face him while taking off her night vision goggles and looking for a rock to sit on.
While Monk on the other hand just watched her with anticipation.
âWell, itâs a long story, but to make it short, Glen killed multiple kids that night in an accidentâ
Like itâs an everyday thing, Monk wasnât even fazed finding out Genesis had killed multiple kids.
âThatâs it? Itâs not like Iâve never killed a kid or two beforeâ replied Monk who immediately became uninterested after hearing her answer, and itâs not because heâs heartless or anything.
Itâs just that for people like them in their kind of business, sometimes they also had to do something that would leave a bitter taste in their mouth, something that they would have nightmares about for the first few nights.
Because itâs their job to never leave any variables behind.
âShut it, donât even think I donât know that you and your friends would actually smuggle those kids to foster homes from outside of their countryâ Sun Bin angrily said to him.
âGenesis told you that? That blabbermouth..!â
Monk was clearly startled by that as he couldnât help but almost yell in anger.
A little annoyed and finding it a little funny too that someone other than them knows what they did in the past, Monk also looked for a place to sit down and popped a chocolate bar in his mouth and said, âAnyway, just how many did he kill?â
âTenâ
âCough! Cough! Ten!? Are you sure?â
âYeah! I remember it like it just happened yesterdayâ
Incredibly surprised by that number, Monk started coughing on the chocolate he was chewing on while looking at her with skepticism.
âYouâre shitting me, arenât you? If he really killed ten kids that night, then it would have blown out of proportion! That knucklehead wouldnât be able to take that mental burden if he really killed ten kids!â
He was right, that kind of matter would have really blown out of proportions if it was true. After all, even though they killed people for a living, they are also humans that are wired with kindness and compassion, and like them, there were also a lot who would smuggle the kids of their targets out of the country and some would even go out of the way to leave them with trust funds, of course, using the money of those kidâs parents.
âOh, did I mention that they were dogs?â
Monk was feeling incredibly angry as he felt betrayed that Genesis had kept such a big secret from them, but then the following words that came out of Sun Binâs mouth almost made Monk explode in anger and made him curse at her!
âWomanâŠdamn you!â
âWhat!? Dogs are lives too, those poor puppies wouldnât have died if that jerk just listened to me and didnât throw that damn grenade that blew up an entire large section of thathouse!â
âShut up! Letâs just continue on the road before I utter things that I might regretâ
Sun Bin stomped her feet in annoyance, and Monk didnât see it, that snicker on her face followed by a soft chuckle the moment she turned around from him.
âWell, itâs quite embarrassing to actually tell him that the reason that we actually broke up is because that bastard just wouldnât put a ring on me even after five years of dating!â
Itâs been over half an hour since they continued their trek under a deafening silence as both never bothered to talk after what happened earlier.
Watching Sun Bin walking in front of him, Genesis, still feeling a little annoyed, said, âIâm just realizing now that you and Genesis are two peas in a pod, both are annoying as heck!â
âShh, keep your voice down. Weâre almost thereâ
