Chapter 1169: Rewards (6) [Bonus]
[I hope both sides of your pillow are warm tonight, Chronotitan </3]
Sylas couldnât help but fall into thought.
This deduction of his made sense, but it still felt so⊠well, it was almost unfair in an enticing way, the sort of way that made him want to figure out a method of doing it personally.
His thoughts couldnât help but flicker to the Gluttony Seed, and thoughts began to flourish in his mind.
âWould that work?â
Sylas stood, ignoring his rewards for a moment as he began to pace back and forth. He didnât even notice just how much his speed had increased, the world warping around him as a single step was worth many more.
And then he came back.
Sylas didnât think himself to be much of a pacer, but the improvements to his body made it hard for him to sit in one spot for much longer, so he chose this pathânot realizing just how much of an effect his body alone was having on the Runes around him.
âSo my Rune Spark Mastery wonât have anything to do with my Foundation either?â Sylas asked.
âProbably not.â
âProbably?â
The little girl was silent, and Sylas realized that it was once again something that was too expensive for him.
âRune Spark is just the beginningâŠâ
Sylasâ gaze flickered when he remembered Gralithâs words.
It was interesting, because wasnât this a lot like so many other things? From F- to FFF+, it seemed like the whole pictureâuntil suddenly you realized this was the systemâs method of breaking down what was ultimately just the Fragmented Grade, a Grade the Legendary System didnât even deem worthy to consider.
What if it was just the same for Rune Mastery? What if the nine levels of Rune Mastery, from Rune Enlightenment to Rune Spark, were aligned with F- to FFF+⊠making Rune Spark just the beginning?
If the little girl was saying probably not, could it mean that Sylas had reached a level of Rune Mastery that was only acknowledged by the Legendary System, and now it was impossible to add it to his Foundation as well?
Sylas continued to pace, his body heating up as one thought came quickly after another. His new Title seemed to be putting in quite some effort as well, because the streaming lines of deductions only came faster and quicker with time.
Suddenly, Sylas came to a stop.
The Seeds, at the very least, were from the same era as the Legendary System. There was no other way to explain why the Legendary System would hate their appearance so much.
Though the Madness Key did hide itself from the impotent system as well, it neither seemed afraid of it, nor was the Crimson Eye triggered by its appearance like the All-Seeing Eye was.
In that case, the Seeds were connected to an era that the system was trying to replicate at every turn, but failing to.
Sylas had been rewarded by the impotent system several times for various reasons. But one of the most common reasons he was rewarded was for helping the impotent system to open up new paths it didnât yet understandâŠ
Paths related to the All-Seeing Eye.
So why couldnât he do it again?
It was just that this time, he couldnât do it on his own. This time⊠he just might need a Seed. And he just so happened to have the perfect one.
The Gluttony Seed.
The little girlâs eyes were glowing as she watched Sylas, her golden skin practically giving off a starâs radiance. She couldnât read Sylasâ thoughts, but it was as though she could almost feel them.
Sylas rarely got into this stateâa state where Greed and Gluttony seemed to overlap and he seemed to be wanting for more, pining for it.
He was someone far more in line with Pride, superseding his Sins of Gluttony by far. This bastard didnât even like to enjoy sugar, and he hadnât even seasoned his food in recent memory because he only ate for nutrients and nothing else. He was a fucking psychopath.
But right now, he was tapping into exactly that feeling. Maybe he wouldnât be a terrible Gluttony Disciple after all.
âWeâve definitely got to get him to put on some weight. This shredded appearance is NOT what our Ancestors died for. They would be rolling in their graves right now.â
Sylas didnât know what the thoughts of the little girl were, but even if he had known, he wouldnât care.
He had thought while he was in the UniForge about creating a holistic Rune Armor, one that allowed him to be flexible, incorporating all the various Beast Auras that he seemed to be tied to.
This⊠almost felt like a first step toward that. He just needed to find a way to execute.
But that would require first understanding the Gluttony Seed, something that wouldnât come nearly as easily to him as the True Pride Seed did.
The True Pride Seed was like an open book, an already painted canvas just sitting there, waiting for him to decipher and comprehend.
But the Gluttony Seed⊠it had been in him the longest and yet it felt like he wasnât even touching the surface of it. By comparison, he had had the True Pride Seed for⊠a few minutes? And yet it was leagues beyond.
But the thing was that now that he had the True Pride Seed as a template, he knew what the Seeds were truly capable of if he paid attention. And that would make comprehending it far easier.
Right now, he could feel a world of possibilities opening up to him.
Sylasâ intention moved, and his next reward appeared before him. Reaching out, he grabbed it.
A crystal ball rested in his palm, perfectly round, perfectly clear, but there was nothing at all to see within it. It didnât even amplify the Scorned Wraps beneath it to Sylasâ eye.
[Glyphspire Crucible (???) (Legacy Treasure)]
Sylas raised an eyebrow. He had seen this Treasure type before⊠it was the blood dagger he had taken from Grin, the very one that caused the Greed Seed to take root in him.
