The film crew was filled with all sorts of gossip.
Heather heard some bits and pieces, some she remembered, others she forgot as soon as she turned around.
Probably because she didnât really care.
In her eyes, the thing between Nian Shen and Qu Leqi was bound to happen sooner or later, nothing strange about it.
But with this, "Candidate" Heather was out of the running, and Qu Leqi "moved up," leaving her with no chance.
A few production assistants had maintained a decent relationship with Heather lately. When gossiping, they would try to stay a bit distant from her, considering her feelings.
When it wasnât Heatherâs turn to shoot, sheâd stay with the crew on standby, helping them out with some work.
Whenever she approached, the chatting girls would instantly stop talking, looking at her with grins as if they hadnât said anything at all, each wearing a rather stiff expression.
Heather had seen such situations often, feeling there was really a need to clarify something, so she said, "Let me just say it like this, when you see me, just treat me like a regular person. If you really have nowhere to gossip about Nian Shen and Qu Leqi, you can tell me too. Iâll just listen to it as gossip, no need to avoid me. Itâs not like someone is stealing my boyfriend right now, is it?"
"Heh..." The girls gave an awkward laugh.
"In short, thatâs the point, whoever Mr. Nian dates has nothing much to do with me. Do you understand?"
"Got it, got it, weâve noted it down deep in our hearts."
Heather shook her head helplessly, feeling they didnât really understand.
Their response was perfunctory, as if saying: We know, we know, we understand youâre feeling upset right now. Whatever you say, itâs fine!
Having said her piece, whether or not they believed it was their business, she didnât press the issue further.
"Stop chatting, the director wants to prepare for the next scene, go notify the actors."
"Yes~" The girls dashed off quickly. Nowadays, Heatherâs words carried as much weight as a supervisor, even though she was still just a stunt double.
Looking at the now-empty space, some thoughts flashed through Heatherâs mind.
It had been some days since she last saw Nian Shen; recently, he hadnât personally come to the set to find Qu Leqi, it was always Yi Yang who came to pick her up after work. Sometimes sheâd see Yi Yang and theyâd greet each other, but he wouldnât tell her about Nian Shen.
Heather vaguely felt it was because of the time she got drunk and yelled at him to stay away from her.
She recalled saying something about wanting him to stay away, and now he was doing just that.
Life seemed to have returned to how it was before he came, everything had calmed down.
Yet, this was probably what her normal life should be.
After some adjustment in the early stages, Heatherâs performance had increasingly satisfied the director.
Even though she wasnât sure if Nian Shen had put in a word for her, they werenât as harsh on her as before.
Itâs a good thing; essentially, if people donât mess with her, she wonât mess with them. As long as no one troubles her, she wouldnât start any trouble either.
Todayâs shoot involved a fight scene, where Qu Leqiâs character as a spy would single-handedly take on the enemy forces, battling a group alone. Because Heather and Qu Leqi had similar builds, the director decided to forgo having Qu Leqi herself perform it, and instead, had the martial arts instructor choreograph an extraordinary action scene for it.
Martial arts instructor Master Zhang, who owned a martial arts school, had several apprentices, and at the directorâs request, brought a few of his more skilled apprentices to the set.
