Chapter 26 26: 26 Pirates of the Caribbean 2

I teleported and instantly snatched Barbossa's sword, then returned to Carina.

The crew, who had been laughing a moment ago, all went dead silent after witnessing that. The Queen Anne's Revenge was filled with nothing but stillness.

"Barbossa, does it still seem like a joke?"

"How... how is this possible..."

Barbossa couldn't believe it. He felt the empty space where his sword should be at his hip and patted his waist with his hand.

"Of course! It's not free. You don't know it, but I brought your most precious treasure."

Barbossa snapped out of it at my words and glared at me angrily.

"How would some sword thief know what my most precious treasure is!?"

"Carina!"

I turned and called Carina. She had been standing dumbfounded behind me, overwhelmed by everything happening so fast, and answered hurriedly when I called her.

"Y-Yes? Me??"

I pointed at Barbossa and said to Carina,

"That's your father."

"Wh-What did you say!?"

"What did you say!!??"

Barbossa and Carina both asked back at the same time, shocked, unable to believe it.

"Ah, just to clear up a misunderstanding first—Barbossa is a notorious pirate with a lot of enemies. He wanted you to live a normal life instead of a dangerous one. So he left you at an orphanage."

"I can't believe it!"

Carina shouted at me, refusing to believe it.

"Carina, you have that diary with the ruby embedded in it, right? Show me."

Carina took out the diary from her coat.

"This one?"

Barbossa, watching that, rushed over to Carina, snatched the diary from her hand, and checked to see if it was the diary he knew.

"Th-This can't be..."

"What are you doing!? Give it back!"

Carina snatched the diary back from the shocked Barbossa and put it back in her coat.

"What's your name, miss?"

"Carina."

"Right... Carina. I named you after the brightest star in the northern sky..."

"Are you... really my father!?"

Barbossa had no choice but to roll up his sleeve and show the constellation tattoo on his arm. Seeing that, Carina finally accepted the truth and started crying, hitting Barbossa's chest weakly.

"Why did you abandon me! Why!! Sob... Do you know how hard it's been for me all this time."

Barbossa gently hugged Carina and patted her back to comfort her. He took Carina into the captain's cabin to talk about everything they hadn't said.

While they did that, I checked the sword I'd just obtained with.[Appraisal]

Can control everything related to ships on the sea. (Can seal a ship inside a bottle.)

It definitely had a good ability. This was the second item I needed to get in the Pirates of the Caribbean world. With this, I could travel comfortably anywhere in any sea-related creation.

If [Sword of Triton] could only control ships, [Poseidon's Trident] could control the entire sea. If I got this, worlds like One Piece would be practically cleared.

I was admiring the Queen Anne's Revenge and the sea when Barbossa came out of the captain's cabin and approached me.

"Where's Carina?"

"She's sleeping."

Well, Carina had a lot to be shocked about today. She must be tired.

"I heard. You saved my daughter's life and took care of her?"

"Yeah."

"Thank you. That sword is yours now."

Barbossa seemed genuinely grateful.

"Thanks for acknowledging it."

"But what's your relationship with my daughter? She only talks about you. And that strange power earlier—what the hell are you?"

"The person who'll become your son-in-law."

"Wh-What did you say!!??"

Barbossa shouted, shocked. Well, there were no other women in the Pirates of the Caribbean world, so saying this should be fine. Plus, teasing Barbossa was fun.

If I really dated her, I'd have to teach her to brush her teeth first.

Barbossa staggered back to the captain's cabin like he was in shock from my words. And so the day passed.

The next day, Carina came out of the captain's cabin full of energy and spoke to me with eyes full of anticipation.

"So, is there anything else surprising today?"

"Yeah, now we have to complete what you've been researching. Let's go find [Poseidon's Trident]!"

"Okay!"

Carina answered brightly, smiling.

We immediately went to the captain's cabin and told Barbossa we were going to find [Poseidon's Trident].

"Not now!"

Barbossa strongly opposed it the moment he heard.

"Why not?"

"A cursed ghost ship is turning the sea red with blood right now. Three of my crew's ships have already been sunk."

That must be Salazar. And Barbossa probably wanted to avoid dangerous places now that he had his daughter with him.

"Are you talking about Salazar?"

"Yeah! Salazar returned from death and is madly attacking ships."

"I'll handle Salazar."

"Hahaha~ Son-in-law, you're good at jokes too."

Barbossa laughed loudly. He must've taken my words as a joke.

"Huh? Son-in-law? What's..."

Carina looked at Barbossa and was about to ask, but I quickly cut her off and spoke.

"Let me show you my power. Everyone, come out and watch."

I used an advanced magic I learned in KonoSuba on a small rocky island nearby.

Lightning Strike!

When lightning struck the rocky island, it exploded with a huge sound and fragments flew everywhere. It wasn't as powerful as Explosion magic, but this should be enough.

Barbossa and the crew were so shocked they stared with their mouths wide open at the blown-up rocky island.

"This can't be explained scientifically! I can't believe it even after seeing it. What exactly are you, Jin?"

Carina asked, extremely curious. I roughly made something up to explain.

"I'm the last remaining magician in this world. That's how I know about you and Barbossa."

"There's no such thing as magic in the world."

"You just saw it."

Who was she, a scholar for nothing—she couldn't believe unscientific things even after seeing them.

"I believe you. I've seen all sorts of things at sea. But this one's spectacular."

Barbossa had experienced the immortality curse, seen Calypso, and seen mermaids, so he believed me this time.

"That's fortunate. Anyway, while we're at it, let me fix your leg too."

Idle Transfiguration

I used [Idle Transfiguration] on Barbossa to heal the leg he lost to Edward Teach.

"This... this can't be...!"

This time even Barbossa couldn't believe it, repeatedly touching his newly grown leg.

"Now do you believe I can handle Salazar?"

"...Yeah, let's try it! Everyone, set sail! We're going to hunt ghosts!"

At Barbossa's words, the crew cheered and prepared to set sail. We loaded water and food onto the ship and set out.

After sailing for two days following Carina's star calculations, a lookout shouted when Salazar's ship, the Silent Mary, came into view from far away.

"Captain!! A ghost ship is ahead!"

"Everyone, battle stations!!"

The Silent Mary approached at high speed. All of Barbossa's crew drew their swords and waited tensely.

I didn't care either way, stepped forward, took out [Thunder God's Longsword] from my inventory, jumped slightly, and swung it toward the Silent Mary.

Storm of Black Flames!!

When I swung my longsword at the approaching Silent Mary, multiple bolts of black lightning struck down from the sky toward the Silent Mary.

Flash!

KRA-BOOM~!

KABOOOOM!!

Huge explosions and water columns erupted from the Silent Mary and the nearby sea. I was surprised by its power and range too.

'Whoa~ This is my first time using it, but there's nothing like it for wide-area attacks.'

Seeing that, Barbossa spoke to me with a shocked face.

"Son-in-law... son-in-law, are you some son of Zeus or something? How is this possible..."

As the water columns and spray settled, the half-destroyed Silent Mary was visible. The Silent Mary quickly turned and started to flee. It moved well even though it was a ghost ship and half-destroyed.

"Captain! The ghost ship is running!"

"Chase it! We have to catch it this time!"

We chased Salazar for an hour, but the distance wouldn't close.

"Barbossa, can we catch it?"

"It'll be hard. It's too fast."

Barbossa shook his head as he spoke.

"Really? Then wait a moment."

I took out Guts' greatsword, [Dragon Slayer], from my inventory. There was nothing better for beating ghost-like bastards.

I immediately used Teleport to move to the Silent Mary. Suddenly appearing with a greatsword, the ghost crew of the Silent Mary charged at me like mad, but when I swung [Dragon Slayer] once, five of them were swept away and vanished instantly.

Seeing that, the ghost crew got scared and hesitated, but I didn't stop. I moved quickly, smashing and cutting the crew and the ship wherever I went. Swinging such a huge greatsword so fast made it look like a small tornado was carving up the ship.

Thud! Whack! Slice!

Kraaak~!

The already half-destroyed ship was now beyond recognition, getting utterly wrecked. Unable to watch, Salazar shouted.

"Stop!! Stop!! What grudge do you have against us to do this!"

"Did you have grudges against the people you killed?"

"Th-That's..."

He had nothing to say. He was just taking out his pent-up anger on innocent people.

"Please. We won't attack other ships anymore. We have a grudge we must repay. Once we settle that, we'll leave far away."

Salazar had become a ghost trapped in the triangle for ages because of Jack Sparrow. When Jack sold the compass to someone else, the compass cursed Jack, which freed Salazar.

Freed, Salazar attacked ships in rage and to find Jack, massacring people.

"What grudge?"

I knew, but I asked anyway.

"Jack Sparrow! We became like this because of him."

"Really? Wait a moment."

I went to the Queen Anne's Revenge and told them what I'd heard.

"This. We could just kill them, but we could put Jack in trouble. What do you think?"

It would earn more points to kill Salazar here, but this would be more fun. Barbossa laughed and agreed.

"Kuhuhuhu, you villain! Truly worthy of being someone's son-in-law!"

We decided to let Salazar go. Salazar promised to leave with the five surviving crew members on what was barely recognizable as a ship, and departed pitifully.

We also started moving again, looking at the stars.

"So. Father, you say the island isn't on the map?"

"No, there's no island there."

The island they were looking for wasn't on the map, and Barbossa and Carina were arguing.

"If we go, we'll know. We have enough food, don't we?"

After sailing for a while, we finally arrived at a beautiful, mysterious island that glittered all over with crystals.

"It's beautiful!"

"Yeah. Galileo Galilei must have wanted someone else to find this."

"It's you who found it."

"You or Father couldn't have found it without your help."

We got off the ship and looked around the island. Carina kept staring at one spot.

"Carina, what's wrong..."

"There's rubies shining in a constellation pattern, but this last ruby isn't lit."

Then Barbossa pointed at the ruby in the diary and said,

"Fill it in."

Hearing that, Carina took the ruby out of the diary.

"This is the missing star."

And so Carina placed the ruby in the empty spot. Then the light from the ruby pointed to the sea, and the ground we were standing on began to sink.

I quickly grabbed Barbossa and Carina under each arm and jumped, landing safely in the parted sea.

"So this is Poseidon's grave."

When we watched it in the movie, I didn't realize, but with the sea parted, coral revealed and the sea on both sides visible, the sight was truly spectacular.

"Wow! Amazing."

"It's over here!"

Carina ran off like an excited girl toward the parted sea.

"Carina, be careful! You'll fall if you run like that!"

"Hahaha~ Son-in-law, you'll have a hard time with my daughter!"

Barbossa patted my shoulder consolingly as he followed her. I sighed and followed behind them.

After walking for a while, we saw something that looked like green seaweed stems: a trident stuck in the center.

"This is it! [Poseidon's Trident]"

"This. Let me help."

Carina was struggling and huffing to pull out [Poseidon's Trident] but it wouldn't budge easily.

"Wait, Carina."

I went over and grabbed [Poseidon's Trident] with Carina and pulled it out.

First, I tried its performance and made a fountain show with seawater. Carina clapped and liked it.

I handed [Poseidon's Trident] to Carina, and she did a fountain show too.

Barbossa saw and found it interesting, so he took it from Carina and started playing with it too.

"Hahaha~ This is fun."

The three of us felt like we'd returned to childhood. After playing like that for a while, I spoke.

"Looking at its performance, if we keep it, rumors will spread and we'll become targets of navies worldwide."

Barbossa and Carina thought for a moment but agreed to seal it.

I pointed at the ground and told Carina.
