Chapter 113: The Calm Before The Storm - Re-Awakening: I Became a Pay To Win Boss Monster

“What do you think?” Rael asked, pressing down on the gas pedal. “She tried playing her games, so I played mine.”

“You took away her skill,” the Beast stated coldly. “Every single follower she had acquired in the last couple of millennia vanished in the blink of an eye.”

Rael scoffed. “Once again, that’s not my problem. She should’ve expected something like this.”

“Really?” The Beast leaned in. “Even I didn’t expect you to steal an Ancient-ranked skill, and yet here you are, sitting without even batting an eye at such a feat.”

“I appreciate the kind words, but I’m more preoccupied thinking about how to deal with Beatrice. I’m sure she’ll be enraged, so I’ll try to strike while the iron’s hot. She might fuck up, after all,” Rael added with a smile.

“Well, I suppose this makes the fight more fair,” the Beast remarked. “I’m giving control back to Seryn. I shall watch your fight from a different plane.”

Just as the Beast was about to leave, however, it offered some parting words.

“Also, the people of the Scorched Lands are sneaking up on Bertha. You can either treat them as convenient allies or as potential enemies. It is all up to you.”

With that, the Beast’s eyes rolled back, replaced by the blue eyes of Seryn, who immediately fell asleep.

Nonetheless, Rael didn’t pay much attention to it. Despite his heart beating violently, he’d already set his mind on going through with this.

Therefore, Rael looked at the road ahead, and the moment he did, he saw a beautiful stone arch, which he swiftly passed through.

He had stationed his constructs a few kilometers away from the last monument, and as for him, he had finally arrived at the second-to-last monument.

To his left was a pile of giant monster bones towering into the sky.

And yet again, the monsters were nowhere to be seen.

It was a pity, as he could’ve really used those extra stats. However, he couldn’t do much about it, so he simply got out of the car and approached the bonfire.

The torch was conveniently placed right beside the bonfire, so he picked it up and tossed it inside before going through the normal procedure.

The effects noticeably decreased, but they were still better than nothing, so Rael simply put it aside in his mind and slowly began preparing himself.

It felt really strange knowing his life had a very real chance of ending soon—Rael couldn’t really believe it.

Therefore, he got back into the car and slowly began driving up.

“Well, Sweepus, I wonder what kind of advice you’d give me if you could talk?” Rael said with a chuckle. “Seryn is knocked out, and you’ve been with me all this time. It’s just a pity you can’t communicate.”

Just as he was about to stop talking to himself, Sweepus suddenly tapped his shoulder, causing him to turn.

Sweepus Prime began making strange gestures with its surprisingly mobile arms. However…

“Mate, if you’ve been with me for so long, you should know by now I don’t understand sign language,” Rael said with a sigh.

A frown appeared on Sweepus’s face as it suddenly tapped on its own body. In the very next moment, a crystal scribble board appeared.

Sweepus began writing, and within a few minutes, it was done.

It turned the scribble board toward Rael, revealing a few plain words.

“Final Boss is hard, but you can do it with us…?” Rael read it out loud, his eyes widening. “You really understood me all this time and haven’t tried to say anything? I thought I was imagining it…”

Sweepus nodded innocently and scribbled down a few more words.

“We crystal summons can understand you perfectly, but you have not crafted vocal cords into our bodies… Oh, my bad,” Rael replied with a chuckle. “I’ll get you fixed up once we’re back. I promise.”

And of course, he was met with a thumbs up and a smile from Sweepus.

However, it meant a lot more to Rael than Sweepus could ever know.

After all, a lighthearted chat like that—even if brief—was extremely comforting.

Nonetheless, he sped up, passing by dozens of stalagmites that towered into the sky, and after just a few more moments, he finally saw something different.

There were half a dozen small blue crystal beings marching in a formation. However, once they noticed him, they all halted and saluted in unison.

Rael smiled and half-opened the window before sending them a wave.

“I’m sure all of you already know of the plan, but just in case, let me remind you.”

He cleared his throat and continued. “I’m going to get Beatrice’s ass, and in the meantime, I want all of you to storm the monument, activate it, and then bring me the Ember. There will be sacrifices, and I myself might even die. But do remember—light the bonfire, and get me the Ember no matter what.”

As he finished his little speech, every single one of the constructs present saluted in unison.

“Good. Move with me,” Rael commanded. “Once the monument and the spider are in range, separate into several groups. Whatever happens, I’m glad all of you are here to support me.”

With that, he kept going forward while staying in the car.

The REwinder had an option to turn back the car’s time by a few seconds, and while the usage was limited, he could avoid a few crucial hits.

And it was about time he woke Seryn up.

“Oi!” Rael yelled, quickly hitting the brakes and sending Seryn flying into the back of the passenger seat.

“Ugh…” A groan rang out, followed by Seryn’s gloomy face appearing. “That was one long dream…”

“Yeah, yeah, you can knock yourself out later. First—”

Rael trailed off as he suddenly saw something far off in the distance.

It was a single slim black spider leg. However, it was the size of the tallest mountain he had seen in the entire Plague Lands.

In fact, it rivaled the Beast’s colossal size when he had first encountered it.

But as quickly as the leg appeared, it soon vanished.

However, that meant Beatrice was close, and she was going to attack ahead of schedule.

Therefore, he rolled the window down and gave a few simple commands.

“Scatter! Keep going north, you can’t miss the massive obelisk!”

Immediately, the constructs dashed off without even wasting a second.

Then, he turned to the puzzled Seryn and flashed a small yet shaky smirk.

“You’ve been asleep for a while… I’ll give you a quick rundown on what’s about to happen.”
