Chapter 114: First Interaction With The People Of The Scorched Lands - Re-Awakening: I Became a Pay To Win Boss Monster

“Fuck…” Seryn muttered, his eyes wide. “Just what did you get me into?”

“I’d say my bad, but it’s not really my bad,” Rael replied with a shrug, extending his hand. “You’re 3 million in debt, by the way. We visited the Mirefall Encampment, Ruins of Saltmere, and Halcyra. So yeah, 3 million.”

“Seriously…?” Seryn grumbled. “I’ve been asleep for the last couple of days. How did I… oh right, the one in possession of me likely visited those places.”

Rael nodded. “Even if it was just spiritually, you still visited those places, so pay up.”

“You’re unbelievable,” Seryn said with a sigh as he accepted Rael’s hand.

<Confirmed.>

“Nice.” Rael snickered. “Now that that’s over with, though, you need to make a decision. Do you want to get out of here or not? I’m not waiting for long, so I’ll only give you 10 seconds to decide.”

Before he could even begin the countdown, Seryn nodded.

“I believe that as long as I follow you, I’ll be able to get out. So I’ll come with you.”

Rael’s brows twitched. “Look, as much as I’d like to lie to you and tell you what you want to hear… there’s no way out of the Depths, and I’m the only one who has a chance of getting out.”

Despite the bombshell, Seryn seemed calm.

“So what?” Seryn shrugged. “If you get out, then that means it’s possible. I’ll just have to find a way to do that by myself.”

Just as Rael was about to convince him otherwise, Seryn suddenly pointed ahead.

Like clockwork, Rael put his hand on the steering wheel and turned around.

The moment he did, a man in red, samurai-like armor came into view.

He was injured, but it wasn’t a grave injury—just the loss of an arm.

The moment Rael met the man’s eyes, he froze. It wasn’t because he was scared or anything, but…

What if Beatrice is controlling him?

The thought lingered, but not for long as he took a look around and, without wasting a moment, hit the gas pedal.

He drove straight into the armored man, knocking him aside and worsening the wound.

But Rael didn’t care and kept going forward.

After all, a soldier from the Scorched Lands just happening to be exactly where Rael was felt a little too convenient.

Nonetheless, Rael checked the map and realized he wasn’t that far away.

However…

219 of his constructs died in a single attack, which meant that nearly 30% of his forces were wiped out.

Fuck… This really is getting my blood pumping, Rael thought with a grin and continued forward.

“I feel some orthodox forces on the right,” Seryn suddenly stated.

Rael raised a brow. “Orthodox? As in good?”

“Yes, they don’t seem evil, at least not from their Qi,” Seryn replied, taking a glance back at Rael. “Your Qi is evil, but it’s probably just because you’re greedy.”

“What…? Greedy?” Rael’s eyes widened. “What kind of bullsh—”

Rael stopped himself as he suddenly hit the brakes, dodging a staff that had been embedded in the road.

He leaned in, looking through his windshield. Immediately, he spotted a woman perched on top of the staff, her black hair flowing down.

But it seemed like she wasn’t exactly friendly, since in the very next moment, that woman jumped up, snatched her staff out of the ground, and swung down at him.

Rael’s brow twitched as he stuck his head out the window.

“You sly bitch! Are you trying to kill us!?”

“Calm down… I’m pretty sure she just thinks we’re enemies.” Seryn tried defusing the situation.

“Oh, of fucking course we’re enemies. Did you see what she just tried to do?” Rael said, pointing at the woman who was slowly walking toward them. “I’m not getting out of the car, but goddamn.”

“Shall I get out and deal with her then?” Seryn offered.

However, Rael simply shook his head. “No need for that, I’ll just go around.”

With that, Rael turned the wheel, but before he could even press the gas pedal, a few interesting pop-ups appeared before him.

That’s an interesting one, but I’m not wasting mana. Not yet, anyways… Rael thought, pressing the brakes to avoid the incoming staff, and then storming off.

He wasn’t sure where all these people were coming from. However, one thing did stand out about that woman in particular.

She had elf ears.

Rael recalled the fight where he first met the Beast, and this seemed like a situation nearly identical to that one.

War, multiple races, a dreary dead land. The only thing that wasn’t the same was that the Plague Lands didn’t have any clouds.

I might just be looking too much into it… the Beast did say it was… Rael sighed. And the Beast is a fucking liar, so I’m not even sure what to believe.

Nonetheless, whilst he was in thought, he kept on dodging the staves that the black-haired woman had thrown.

Finally, the obelisk came into view, but it seemed like that wasn’t the only thing in view a massive mushroom cloud rose into the air.

—BOOOOOM

With a loud explosion, Rael saw multiple bodies fly past him. Blood spurted on his windshield, but, he didn’t stop there.

After all, the monument was so close, and his constructs—

—BOOOOOOOOM

Fuck… Rael grumbled, and after a couple more moments, he saw the one who was behind all the explosions.

At first, he thought it was the obelisk. However, it was just one of Beatrice’s legs as she stomped around, crushing the people of the Scorched Lands.

—HAHAHA! Rael Sutekh! Where are you~!?

Hearing that, Rael’s brows furrowed, but they furrowed even further when a moment of silence descended on the battlefield.

And of course, just as he thought things might’ve calmed down, the same voice as earlier rang out.

Only this time, it was much closer.
