Chapter 345: Evolution
<Ding!>
<Would you like to Evolve the race: Abyss Demon into True Calamity Demon?>
<Yes / No>
âHuhâŠâ Rael stared at it for a few moments, unsure if he was hallucinating.
But clearly, he wasnât.
<Notice: You will keep the effects of the Abyss Demon race. Additionally, you will evolve into a higher version of the Calamity Demon race, the True Calamity Demon.>
<Notice 2: You are unable to view the changes until acceptance.>
Well⊠this is interesting,
Rael mused.
In no way did he expect something like this to happen to him. At most, he mightâve gotten a pat on the back after Lilith was done with her bloodline assimilation.
Alas, here he was.
Still⊠if I keep the effects, I donât really have any reason to refuse, do I?
With that in mind, he sat on the ground in front of the cocoon, leaned against it, and accepted.
<Ding!>
<Race Evolution in progressâŠ>
Wait⊠the sleeping potionâ
âAAAAAH!â Raelâs eyes widened as a sudden burst of pain shot through his body.
It reminded him exactly why heâd bought the potion in the first place.
But he couldnât even move his arms, so buying it now was pointless.
He simply watched as the evolution bar filled up, enduring the pain.
.
.
.
The pain finally faded, and what replaced it was a single pop-up detailing his new race.
True Calamity Demon (Celestial)
âYou have reached the peak before the pinnacle of the Demonic race.
+35% Resistance to ALL demonic damage.
+1000% Effect of Fear | +3000% Effect of Fear during the night
+1,000% Mind Damage Increase
+500% Demonic Damage Increase
+75% Damage against Light-based enemies
+30% effectiveness of all curses and debuffs
Special Effects:
1. You may choose to convert one of your stats into a [Calamity] stat.
2. Enemies affected by Fear take 5% more damage from all sources.
3. You are seen as the highest Demonic royalty throughout all the realms.
Gain Special Art: Calamity Demonâs Swordsmanship (Tier 9)
<Possible Future Evolutions: 1>
Kugh⊠itâs strong,
Rael thought, trying to stand up, but he was unable to.
Even so, he could still be a bit productive while sitting down.
He could convert one stat into a Calamity stat, so that was exactly what he thought of doing.
At first, he wanted to give the special Calamity effect to his Divinity, but it didnât work.
In the end, he was left with three choices.
Agility, Constitution, or Willpower.
Charisma, too⊠but thereâs no way Iâm wasting something this valuable on good looks.
He ruled out Constitution right away. He already had a bunch of HP, courtesy of his Calamity Class ascension.
Willpower was intriguing, but he highly doubted that his limit would be removed.
Therefore, after not-so-careful consideration, Rael chose Agility.
<Ding!>
<Agility â Calamity Agility>
<Calamity Agility>
1. Acts as Movement Speed. Massively enhances dexterity, reflexes, and dodging precision.
2. (NEW) New stat calculation: 1,000,000 Agility â 1 Calamity Agility
3. (NEW) You distort spatial laws with movement. Every dash, teleport, or step warps the area within a 10-meter radius, causing most low-level skills/spells to malfunction.
4. (NEW) Your first movement after entering combat becomes instantaneous and cannot be tracked.
5. (NEW) Critical Evasion: If your movement speed exceeds a targetâs Perception by 500%, disable their critical strike damage increase.
Thatâs overpoweredâŠ
Raelâs eyes widened.
He basically had an anti-magic step now, and it didnât stop there. This was, by far, the stat that came closest to rivaling the Supreme Beastâs Strength.
But of course, that wasnât all, since he still had that swordsmanship to check out.
<Calamity Demonâs Swordsmanship (Tier 9)>
âA sword art born from divine catastrophe, meant not to kill, but to cause as much havoc as possible.
âSpecial Bonuses:
1. +500% Demonic Damage on all sword-based attacks [2x damage for every Calamity stat you have]
2. Ignores fear and morale resistances.
3. You deal more damage to enemies who fear you.
âEffects:
1. Fear Manifestation: Attacks may paralyze enemies. Duration doubles at night or in cursed zones.
2. Corrupted Judgment: 2x Critical Strike Damage versus Light-based enemies.
3. Final Cataclysm: A single slash dealing Calamity Damage (Scales with the number of people on the battlefield and the fear you inflicted upon them.) Creates a cursed zone that reduces healing by 80% for 10s. Cooldown: 7 days.
Hmm⊠thatâs it?
Rael tilted his head, puzzled.
For a Tier 9 art, I expected something a little more special.
It was just a sword art that dealt more damage through Fear.
But the fact that he would deal 2 times more damage against Light-type enemies was a boon.
Solenne would take double damage now⊠thatâs neat.
After confirming the changes, Rael stood up and dusted himself off.
It seemed like the cocoon had gotten slightly smaller, so he would wait for Lilith to come out.
Rael, on the other hand, felt a little conflicted.
Future him, or at least, the one he had met in the Memory Record, was able to kill literal Gods within the span of a year or two.
But how did he become so powerful? Even now, Rael could probably deal with a Grade 3 being with ease. He might even be able to put up a decent fight against a Grade 4 being.
How am I even allowed to get this powerful? Shouldnât there be some kind of law in place? Or maybe⊠Iâm allowed to get this powerful because Iâm not the only one who can reach such heights?
After all, he remembered one thing in particular that had appeared shortly after he ate the Supreme Beastâs eye.
<Boss Monster Variation Possibilities: 9,554,117>
<To ensure fairness, we implore you to pick a random number, which in turn, will decide which boss monster variation you shall be.>
He had picked one of those variations, and if the remaining 9,554,116 were as overpowered as his, then it was safe to assume he wasnât that special.
Still⊠Itâs enough for me. Growing stronger at this pace is not bad by any means.
Rael shrugged it off, and in the next instant, the black cocoon cracked.
