Chapter 628: Legacy of Power ( 628 )
Not far away, Alf, Erinnette, and Hesbeirn stood silently by the royal garden gateâwatching the chaos unfold.
Their lord, Garius De Armand. Stoic, calm, always composedâwas currently in mid-air.
âLike this!!â
Garius shouted, mimicking Veldracâs move with surprising agility for a man of his status.
He twisted in the air and brought his palm down in a dramatic arc, slapping nothing but the wind.
He landed firmly, looking satisfied.
âPerfect technique,â Garius nodded to himself.
Erinnette blinked twice.
Hesbeirn tilted his head slightly.
Alf remained expressionless.
The three shared a quick look.
Then Alf muttered dryly,
ââŠLooks like some dwarves really get it this time.â
Erinnette sighed and crossed her arms.
âA whole celestial war⊠and this is the result.â
âForehead festival,â Hesbeirn added.
They all fell silent again, watching as Garius began instructing Mylezra on the best palm angle for maximum sting.
Veldrac suddenly twirled, leaping high like a performer on stage.
He spun mid-air with flourish, cape fluttering behind him.
He landed on one foot, palm smacking the air.
âThis will make him fly!!â
Veldrac grinned wide.
âNo, no, no~â
Lioness stepped forward, cracking his knuckles with a sharp smirk.
âIt should be like this.â
The beastkin king crouched, then launched himself upwardâflipping twice before twisting in the air.
He landed with both feet placed firmly and slapped down with full strength.
âThis⊠is what I call skills!â
Dust kicked up around him.
Even a nearby bird in the tree flapped away from the impact.
Mylezra chuckled softly behind her fan.
âNow, now. No need to argue. Weâll all get our turn.â
âI canât wait to see him cry! Bwahahaha!â
Lioness roared with laughter.
âJust imagining his face when we all line up to slap himâpriceless!â
Mylezra smiled gently, her elegance remaining despite the chaos around her.
âLucky for him, the celestial didnât corrupt him too much. But GariusâŠâ
She looked toward him with curiosity.
âAre you sure your son was able to defeat the celestial? Thatâs no simple feat.â
Garius raised his eyebrows slightly, then smirked confidently.
âI didnât raise a weakling, you know.â
He placed a hand on his hip, glancing at the sky.
âEven Marcellus alone couldâve taken down Gumarak while he was possessed. That celestial was strong, sureâbut my eldest? Calm, tactical. He wouldâve cut him down with precision.â
He turned his gaze toward the group, his voice firmer now.
âAnd Cedric?â
He chuckled low.
âThat boyâs a monster. My strongest paladin. He couldâve deflected every one of Gumarakâs celestial attacks like swatting flies.â
Lioness nodded seriously.
âYeah⊠Cedric once fought a berserk elder orc with his bare fists.â
Veldrac rubbed his chin.
âWhat kind of freaks are you raising, Garius? Makes me feel bad for Gumarak.â
Mylezra chuckled softly.
âStill, that youngest one⊠Javier, was it?â
She looked thoughtful.
âHeâs⊠different. Quiet but terrifying. His aura is strange. Not like the others.â
Garius simply offered a mysterious smile.
âThat boy⊠is something else entirely.â
âAnd I sent him,â Garius continued, arms folded behind his back, âbecause he needs to see more of the world. To learn with his own eyes. After all⊠heâll be the one to inherit my position after me.â
Mylezra raised an eyebrow, her lips curling into a teasing smile.
âAre you sure, Garius? He doesnât strike me as the obedient type~â
Her smirk deepened.
âMore like the type whoâd run off and make his own plans behind your back.â
Garius chuckled, not denying it.
âI know. He definitely will.â
Lioness whistled.
âBold of you to say that so casually. Arenât you worried?â
âWorried?â Garius shook his head.
âIf he was the kind of kid who followed orders blindly, I wouldnât give him anything.â
Veldrac tilted his head.
âThen why not give it to Marcellus or Cedric? Both are strong, loyal, and already trained.â
Garius looked out toward the distant mountain peaks.
âBecause theyâve already reached what theyâre supposed to be. Theyâre complete.â
He paused.
âBut JavierâŠâ
He smiled faintly.
âLetâs just say⊠he has a special talent. One you canât teach or train. One even I canât fully grasp.â
Mylezra narrowed her eyes.
âWhat kind of talent?â
Garius exhaled softly, watching the wind stir the trees.
âThe kind that either saves the worldâor changes it forever.â
Lioness smirked and crossed his arms proudly.
âWell, no worries then. You already promised to let my daughters marry him anyway.â
âFelicia and Mimiâboth are smitten. Youâre not backing out on that, are you?â
Garius let out a light sigh, rubbing his temple.
ââŠYouâre the one who made that promise, not me.â
Veldrac jumped in with a wide grin.
âAh, donât forget about my little sister too. Delyaâs got her eyes locked on him.â
Garius side-eyed him.
âSheâs still young.â
âSo? Give it a few years,â Veldrac shrugged casually.
âShe already declared him as her future husband, didnât she?â
Mylezra smiled with calm elegance, adjusting her robe.
âIâm not worried.â
She sipped her tea peacefully.
âAfter all, both my nieces are by his side.â
Lioness raised a brow.
âNieces?â
Mylezra nodded.
âLiana is my elder brotherâs daughter. And Gloriaâsheâs my cousinâs child.â
Her smile softened.
âTheyâll keep him in line⊠probably.â
Garius chuckled quietly.
âThatâs assuming he doesnât charm his way into more trouble.â
Veldrac laughed.
âHeâs your son. Of course he will.â
The group shared a laugh, knowing full well that the boy they called Javier was far from ordinary. Surrounded by princesses, maids, and enemies alike.
Gariusâs eyes sharpened, and his expression shifted to one of complete seriousness.
âLioness. Mylezra. Veldrac.â
The atmosphere instantly grew heavier. All three rulers, who had been casually standing a moment ago, now faced him properly.
âHmm?â
âWhat is it?â
âSpeak.â
Their responses came in perfect unison, each voice filled with power, focus, and readiness.
Garius narrowed his eyes.
âMy intelligence unit has confirmed it. Both Edmund and Gurdan are preparing to deploy their âspecial unitsâ.â
His tone remained calm but icy, cutting through the room like a blade.
Lioness cracked his knuckles with a cocky grin.
âI already expected that.â
Mylezra gently touched her lips with her fingers, smiling with calm confidence.
âItâs within my prediction too. Donât worry about it, Garius.â
Veldrac gave a slow, sly smirk.
âOf course I know. You think Iâd come here without knowing what my enemies are planning?â
All three turned toward Garius and, in perfect sync, said:
âDo you think we came here unprepared?â
Garius exhaled slowly. That was the answer he expectedâbut also the one he needed to hear.
These werenât ordinary rulers. Each of them was a force of nature.
A beast king whose roars crushed armies.
An elven queen who once led a crusade of light against darkness.
A demon king whose shadows danced with death.
And now⊠they stood together.
Ready for war.
Ready to punish a friend.
And ready⊠to protect what mattered most.
