Chapter 35: Shopping for Old Zhao

With the amount of bread she had gotten, she didn’t have to worry about missing it at all in the apocalypse.

On her way to the Lu Group warehouse in the suburbs, she passed by the fresh produce market and bought more vegetables, fruits, and other food stuff including potatoes, carrots, and sweet potatoes.

She bought a lot and asked for them to be delivered at the warehouse in an hour.

Even though she had these things, it wouldn’t hurt to have more, especially since the family had expanded.

She thought that she had enough meat and other protein food stuff and didn’t go to the meat market.

When she got to the warehouse, Lu Zhen was already there. Even though they had emptied the warehouse the previous night, it was almost full again.

The desserts from Uncle Li’s restaurant were all there and everything else that they had ordered.

She didn’t even take a rest and proceeded to store all the supplies into the space.

When the fresh produce arrived, the two were waiting for them. They had the workers unload and leave everything in the warehouse. They didn’t let them arrange them and said that there were others who would come to do that.

As soon as the delivery men left, Leng Pan repeated her routine and stored everything into the space again.

"That should be everything. You didn’t order anything else, right?" Leng Pan asked Lu Zhen as she sat down to rest.

"No, that’s all. Rest a little then we can go to the villa to collect the rest and go home." Lu Zhen said as he stood up to massage Leng Pan’s shoulders.

He knew that storing all those things in the space must be stressing her mind. He felt sorry for her but couldn’t do anything since he couldn’t help.

After resting for twenty minutes, Leng Pan stored one car into the space and got into Lu Zhen’s car. There was no longer a reason to drive two cars now.

Lu Zhen had no objections and obediently became a driver.

When they arrived at the villa, all the food had been delivered and it filled the entire living room, kitchen, and even the corridor on the first floor.

Now that she had come with Lu Zhen, this could no longer be a surprise, but it was okay.

"You bought so much food from my favorite restaurant?" Seeing so much food from his favorite restaurant, Lu Zhen was touched.

It showed that Leng Pan had him in her heart and didn’t want him to miss his favorite dishes even in the apocalypse.

He gathered her in his arms and hugged her into his chest.

"Thank you baby. You are the best." He said with a hoarse voice.

"It’s nothing. You have done more for me. This is just a small thing." Leng Pan replied as she circled her arms around his waist and hugged him back.

They stayed in each other’s arms, feeling their hearts beat in sync for a few minutes before letting go and leaving.

"Let’s go home. There’s something I need to do." Leng Pan said as she started walking out of the villa.

"What is it you are going to do at home? Mom is there and can help you." Lu Zhen said as he thought that his wife still had more chores that needed to be done.

She was already so tired, how could he let her do more?

"It’s not something that anyone else can help with. Let’s go home, you’ll find out later."

After that, both of them got into their cars and left. On the way, Lu Zhen seemed to have remembered something and placed a call to his assistant.

Even though the apocalypse was only a few hours away, Zao was still his assistant at the moment.

When the call went through, he said to his assistant, "Find out where Mr. Zhao, the owner of the bookstore I bought is living at the moment. I need the information in five minutes."

"Okay boss. Right away." Assistant Zao had just returned home after picking up his family from the train station.

He immediately got to work and in five minutes, the address of an apartment in a certain wealthy community was sent to Lu Zhen.

Mr. Zhao seemed to have listened to them and moved from his villa.

"Why do you need Grandpa Zhao’s address?" Leng Pan asked with curiosity.

"Let’s send him some food and water while shopping for our own when we get to the supermarket. Even though we told him to stock up on a lot of food and water, he might not buy enough." Lu Zhen explained his plan.

Leng Pan was happy that despite being in a high position where most people almost wanted to kiss the ground he stepped on, Lu Zhen had not lost his morals and still cared about people as humans not tools for making more money.

"That’s good hubby. That way, even if he runs out of the supplies he bought, he will have more to survive longer." Leng Pan praised her husband’s goodwill.

"Mmm ...he deserves more than that." Lu Zhen said.

As they were driving towards their apartment community, Leng Pan suddenly sat up straight and looked at a car on the other side of the road.

"What is it baby?" Lu Zhen asked when he noticed Leng Pan’s tense behavior.

"See the black car with a bird sticker on the side, can you turn around and follow it?" Leng Pan asked with some agency.

"Of course, I’ll turn around ahead. There is a U-turn sign about seventy meters ahead on the road." Lu Zhen said and indeed, about seventy meters later, he turned the car around.

The black car had already put some distance between them and Lu Zhen had to increase his speed some more to get close. However, he made sure that he wasn’t close enough for the person in the car to notice them.
