"I blocked it with a flame barrier while I was inside the dust, how else would I have blocked it?" Roman replied with a smile staring at Ava.
If Roman truly blocked it with a flame barrier, that would mean his barrier was a lot stronger, as it was able to stop all the spells Reena cast, but the girls didnât buy it at all.
If it was really a flame barrier, why not cast it instead of dodging the spell earlier, or maybe he wanted to show his skill, but why cast it under cover where no one could see?
This was the first time they had seen him fight, and even though he didnât put in a dominant display, he was still the winner, but Aurelia still felt he held back. She didnât know why she thought that, but the way Roman behaved made her feel like that.
"Roman can I ask you a question?" Elena asked as she turned towards him facing away from Reena.
"Sure"
"Do you hold back against Reena?" Elena asked.
"You think he held back?" Clara muttered as she faced Elena, "He was fighting for his life out there and youâre asking if he held back"
"I wouldnât say I held back, but I didnât give it my all. I could do better if I were under more pressure," Roman answered, and Elena chuckled.
The rest of the girls looked at him with amusement. They could get what he was saying. After Reenaâs outburst of spell, which he blocked, the battle was practically over then, and it was quick.
"I just hope we come across ourselves in the next match, that would be easier than fighting any of them," Elena said. "Not to say youâre weaker, but flame spells arenât too bad." She spoke as she walked away.
The rest of the girls walked towards Reena, leaving Roman alone as he walked towards Amelia, who had been waiting for him.
As soon as Roman came close, she didnât wait and rushed to hug him. During the battle, she couldnât even watch properly because she was afraid Roman was going to be beaten, but surprisingly, he won.
Anya also hugged him with a smile on her face.
"How did you do that? I thought you were going to lose, after all the magic I had given up hope, I even thought you were going to be injured?" Amelia spoke with a smile on her face.
Now she could smile about it, but during the match, she was just scared and closing her eyes every second.
"This was because of me," Anya spoke, "And a little bit of Roman too, but I was the main reason, we had such a good time last night that he was inspired to win.
"I donât care what you do or say, youâre not staying with Roman another night," Amelia spoke as Roman chuckled.
"This was my first time fighting a duel, I wonât lie, I was also anxious during the first seconds, but after that I knew I was going to win, it was just a matter of time," Roman spoke.
"Ohh cocky...also, how were you able to avoid her spells and be practically untouched, I could see you smirking when you stood up from the ground, when you did that I was convinced you were going to win, I guess it really was a good choice going to the academy" Anya said to Roman as she hit his shoulder playfully.
"Itâs not the end of the tournament yet, so I still have more work to do, but Iâll get there," Roman replied.
"On other news, we received a letter from Fiona back home," Amelia said, looking at Roman a little seriously now.
"Is something wrong?" Roman asked.
"Fionaâs pregnant" Amelia said with a smile.
"Pregnant, sheâs pregnant..." Roman paused for a second. He knew it was a good thing, and for sure it was his, but now he had this feeling.
Roman wasnât born in this world; he knew the responsibility to raise the child would be Fionaâs, and it didnât really matter since they were no fathers, but Roman would still know he was the father of the child.
"Is something wrong?" Amelia asked.
"No, nothing, Iâm just happy for her, sheâs alone back at the village, right? Maybe you should invite her to come stay with you guys here," Roman suggested.
"Really...are you concerned for her? Thatâs so sweet, but I doubt she would want to live in the capital, I mean, sheâs been here before." Amelia spoke.
"Tell her I want her to come, and she doesnât have the right to refuse," Roman said with a smile, and Amelia laughed.
"I know youâre joking but should I really tell her?" Amelia asked.
"Iâm not joking, tell her to come stay with you guys" Roman replied.
"There are lots of rooms there, so it shouldnât be a problem, what about the Queen? If you do win this tournament, isnât the Queen going to be angry with you?"
"Iâm still going to do the work and mate with females, but itâll be at my own pace, and I wonât have to live in the palace and be monitored, plus Iâll still be in the academy learning magic," Roman said.
"I hope you do win, see you tomorrow, make sure you eat well and sleep early" Amelia spoke as she turned towards Anya.
"Can I stay?" Anya asked.
"No, youâre not staying, youâre not staying till the tournament is over, and Roman won," Amelia said with a smile as she began walking away, waving at Roman.
Roman waved back with a smile on his face before turning around to see Reena walking towards him. He had no idea why, but she had a look on her face like she was coming to punch him. The rest of the girls stood watch from afar.
Roman didnât speak as she arrived in front of him.
"Tell me the truth, did I ever pose a threat to you, did you ever think for a second that I might win the match?" Reena asked.
Roman didnât know how to answer the question. When coming into the match, he was a little anxious, but he never thought he was going to lose.
"I was a little nervous before the match, but I knew I was going to win, not because youâre weak, but Iâm strong and determined to win," Roman replied.
"If that was the case, you should have made me look good, at least take some hits and try harder, none of my spells could even graze you," Reena mumbled with her head down as she began walking away.
"Nevertheless, it was a great match. I look forward to sparring with you back at the academy," Roman replied, and Reena turned around.
"No matter how determined you are, you have no chance of winning this tournament, but Iâll be rooting for you; at least itâll show that I wasnât weak, you were just powerful," Reena spoke as she walked away.
