Chapter 1143: Earning Money
âIâm sorry, esteemed customers. We donât accept barter.â
âThatâs weird. The last city accepted itâŠâ Nathan frowned.
âMy apologies, esteemed customers. Unfortunately, we canât accept it.â
Mae walked to his side and suggested, âMaster. Should I exchange it for some money? It shouldnât take too long.â
Evelyn felt weird about something. Despite talking to each other, the owner and the female staff acted as if nothing weird had happened. Nathanâs lips should have moved differently.
However, there was another reason Mae accompanied them. The illusion made even the female guard realize that they were using some sort of power. Hence, when Mae applied an illusion to Nathanâs lips, they didnât suspect anything.
Meanwhile, the owner overheard everything and suggested with a polite smile, âIf thatâs the case, may I suggest visiting the lordâs trading hall? The lords are willing to buy food at a high price.â
âWhere is that place?â Nathan asked.
âHow about having Misha lead you?â
Nathan rubbed his chin for a few seconds before nodding his head. âSounds good. Please pack the clothes for now. Iâm going to get some money first.â
âCertainly.â The owner politely bowed to him.
âLetâs go.â Nathan waved his hand to Evelyn.
In the end, the three of them exited the store as the staff led them to the city center. They were greeted by the staff. Thanks to the introduction from the owner, they were treated warmly.
In just two minutes, they were already sitting in front of the manager.
âWelcome. I am the manager of this hall. May I know what kind of food you are planning to sell?â
âI have plenty of them, but I wonder what you need the most?â Nathan crossed his arms.
âWe definitely need everything. We promise that we will buy everything you are willing to sell.â
Nathan didnât say anything. He just stared at the manager as if telling him he didnât want to repeat himself.
The manager felt pressured. He could understand Nathanâs actions. Nathan wanted to sell only one thing to them. If they pushed Nathan away, they would be in trouble.
âAny staple food is something we prioritize the most. Flour, grains, or corn.â
Nathan nodded and took out the first bag of flour on the table.
â!!!â The manager was stunned, not expecting a flour bag to appear out of nowhere. He didnât know how Nathan managed to do it, but he could sense the ena moving into the bracelet. It was the bracelet that did it.
âHow about this?â
âMay I inspect it first, sir?â
âSure.â
The manager opened the bag carefully and examined the flour. âItâs indeed a high-quality flour. For this bag, Iâm willing to offer you 100,000 Zel. IfâŠâ
Before he continued, Nathan raised his hand, stopping him. âI told you earlier. I have plenty.â
Nathan pointed to the side and used the space bracelet again. Five more bags appeared.
â!!!â The manager widened his eyes.
âLetâs see⊠I wonder how many bags Iâm going to sell.â Nathan looked up as though he were thinking.
Mae, on the other hand, suggested, âMaster. How about selling 50 bags for now?â
â50 bags? I need at most 11 bags, no?â
âThat is indeed true. However, we might encounter the same thing again. Since we have used up our money, how about saving some this time?â
âThatâs why you suggested 50 bags?â
âYes. We shouldnât sell too few or too many. After all, we can always sell it to people who offer sincerity.â Mae smiled.
Nathan nodded. âAll right. Letâs do it this way.â
âThank you very much for accepting my suggestion.â Mae bowed to him with a smile.
âThere you have it. Iâm going to sell 50 bags. Should I take them out here?â
â!!!â The manager was startled. Even the female staff didnât expect Nathan to be this rich. He could sell all this food without batting an eye. It meant he had more food than they could imagine.
Food had become the most sought-after item in this crisis, so its price had increased drastically. If Nathan still had a lot more, he could easily get tens of millions or even hundreds of millions.
The manager stood up and extended his hand into the empty space in the room. âYou may place them here. We will take care of the rest.â
Nathan nodded and dropped the remaining bags. They were the same size, so it wasnât hard to figure out they didnât need to adjust the price per bag.
âYou can check it first.â Nathan nodded.
âNo need. I believe you.â The manager smiled. He then called for another staff and whispered something. Not long after, the staff brought a tray with paper money stacked on it.
Each bill was 10,000 Zel, so the stack was quite big.
âThere are 5,500,000 Zel here. To show our sincerity, we will price each bag at 110,000 Zel. I hope that if Mr. Nathan plans to sell again, you are willing to consider selling it to us.â The manager bowed politely.
âI will think about it.â Nathan nodded.
They were escorted carefully and returned to the shop. It definitely made a huge impact as the staff told him about everything.
Still, even though acquiring money on this continent was good, Evelyn was still confused about Nathanâs plan.
After receiving the clothes, Evelyn demanded, âNathan. What is going on? I know that this is not a normal date, and I can see that youâre planning something. But what is it? I canât see your plan. What are you planning to do?
âIf I know about this, I can help you better.â Evelyn also grabbed the paper bill. âBesides, what is this? How can you trust this kind of paper? Itâs not gold or something. Other than the fact that this is paper, it doesnât mean anything.
âPlease. Explain it to me. I know youâre planning something big. I lose, all right? I admit defeat. So, tell me.â
Nathan scratched the back of his head before sighing. âFine. I will tell you. Letâs get to the inn first, shall we?â
