It did not take Elder Mulon up to one six seconds before he reached the auction hall.
His head snapped in the direction of Lucienās private box, and his pupils shook when he didnāt sense Lucienās aura in his private box.
"Shit."
He immediately dashed toward the stairs, but the moment he was about to place his foot on the first step, he saw Lucien appear from the corner of the stairs.
Bang
Due to the speed he was running with, he had to use a lot of force and power to come to a stop, causing cracks to appear on the first step beneath his foot.
"Young master Lucien?"
He looked at the unmistakable figure of Lucien with a surprised expression.
He looked at the private box then at Lucien once again.
"Why are you down here and not in the safety of your private box? It was specifically prepared to protect you even from the attacks of a Supreme Greater Demon."
Lucien looked at the old Frostborn, then he calmly walked down the stairs.
He then looked around with his icy blue eyes that resembled frozen glass, his expression was one of utter calmness and indifference.
And every step he took caused a tiny sheet of ice to appear on the floor before dissipating into a fog.
"For me to become stronger and have more reputation in the demon realm, I have to fight. My city needs help, and I wonāt stand back and watch it be engulfed in chaos."
Elder Mulonās eyes widened slightly in awe, then he sighed.
"You have always been like this, young master. But you know that you are the pride of House Mercer. The pride of the Frostborns. Nothing must happen to you."
Lucien shifted his gaze to Elder Mulon as he reached the last step of the staircase.
"A demon grows by battle and chaos. This is an opportunity for me to grow. Why would I miss it?"
Elder Mulonās expression became complicated and worry could be seen on his face.
"But what if the danger outside is far beyond your ability? Sometimes itās better to know when to take a step back."
Lucien chuckled softly.
"Legends overcome even the most difficult situations, Elder Mulon. I desire to become a legend, to become a Demon King. I canāt be protected all the time."
Lucien suddenly smiled with a slight tilt of his head.
"Besides, I have you, right? You can protect me when you see that I can no longer hold on."
Elder Mulonās eyes flickered with a thoughtful light as he looked down for a second, then he nodded.
"Youāre right. Letās go then. I donāt know whatās happening outside but I fear the worst has happened."
Elder Mulon turned and started walking back to the door that led to the noble demons.
Lucien followed.
"The worst?" He asked with a slight tilt of his head.
Elder Mulon nodded.
"Yes. I believe thereās a barrier... an array thatās surrounding the auction house. Itās preventing us from leaving and I believe itās also preventing those outside from entering inside the auction house."
"If it could not do that, then the guards and the sponsors of those brats would have stormed inside the auction house a long time ago."
"Hmmm." Lucien hummed softly as he looked down.
He then looked at Elder Mulon.
"And even you cannot break the barrier from inside? Youāre a Prime Greater Demon after all."
Elder Mulon shook his head.
"I tried, but I failed. I might be a Prime Greater Demon but my foundations are poor because Iāve been focusing more on acquiring wealth and a long life."
He looked at Lucien with a solemn expression.
"But if the two of us combine our power, I believe that weāll break through the barrier."
Lucien narrowed his eyes slightly.
"Well, I sure do hope so."
Elder Mulon nodded, then his jaw tightened and he clenched his fists tightly.
"My other fear is that House Valor is participating in all out war against us. Those bastards might have gotten help from another clan, and the reason why theyāve trapped us here is so that you donāt join the battlefield."
"The damage you did to them in the past must still be fresh in their minds."
Lucienās expression remained indifferent and no sign of
"And thatās even more reason for us to leave this place."
"Yes." Elder Mulon nodded.
Then the environment became quiet and tense.
āI just hope the Lord does not kill me or punish me for doing this. Especially his mother.ā
āBut no matter what, Iād rather die than allow the young master die before my eyes.ā
Elder Mulon suddenly heard a whisper in his ears, and he frowned.
"Did you hear that?"
Lucien tilted his head slightly.
"Hear what?"
Elder Mulon stopped walking and looked around, his frown deepening.
Lucien also looked around, but his expression was more of confusion than anything else.
"I canāt hear anything."
Elder Mulon did not respond for a moment, but he was on high alert.
"It sounds like... somebody screaming?"
Lucienās expression became even more strange.
"Elder Mulon, donāt you think Iād hear it if somebody was screaming? My senses are not that bad after all."
Elder Mulon was also baffled, and he could not help but wonder if he was beginning to hear things.
āItās extremely faint, but I can hear someone screaming. It sounds like... Held? No. Help?ā
āJust what in the-ā
"By the way, Elder Mulon."
Lucienās voice suddenly interrupted his train of thoughts, and the elder looked at the Frostborn prodigy.
"What is it, young master?"
Lucien looked down slightly, then he spoke.
"Have you perhaps heard of somebody called Caesar?"
Elder Mulon blinked, then he shook his head.
"Iāve not. Who is that?"
Lucien exhaled softly, then he shook his head.
"Donāt worry about it. Iāll tell you after were safe."
Though Elder Mulon was baffled, curious, and slightly suspicious, he didnāt think much of it.
He turned around and continued walking.
"Weāre almost there. Hopefully those brats-"
Puchi!
The elderās words were cut short, and he looked down in shock, only to see a black blade with a crimson edge sticking out of his heart.
He looked back, and to his disbelief, he saw that it was his young master that stabbed him in the back.
