Chapter 215: Chapter 215: My Wife
"Hey, you canât do that!" the owner said, getting flustered. "Weâre just a small business, and youâre trying to dine and dash! The young lady who just left was your sister, right? She said you would pay!"
Cara Preston silently cursed Vera Xavier. She had tried to get one over on Vera, but the tables had been turned on her completely. She said through gritted teeth, "Iâll go home and get the money!"
"Here, boss!" Jack Judd pulled out a fifty and handed it over, saying grandly, "Keep the change!"
The ownerâs face instantly broke into a wide smile. He said to Cara Preston, "With a rich boyfriend like him, and youâre still pretending to be broke? Youâre quite the kidder, young lady!"
Cara Prestonâs face flushed red. "Heâs not my boyfriend!"
Jack Judd said with a sly grin, "Wifey, thatâs not very nice of you. A moment ago, you were happily eating with your siâ er, sister, but the second you saw me, you rushed right over to talk. If you werenât my wifey, would you do that?"
Cara Preston was speechless, realizing she had just shot herself in the foot.
Jack Judd added, "If you werenât my wifey, would I be spending this kind of money to buy you breakfast? Right, boss?"
The shop owner chuckled. "You said it!"
Cara Prestonâs expression hardened. "I am not your âwifey,â and I donât know you!" she said coldly.
"Wifey, thatâs enough now," Jack Judd said, reaching out to stroke her face. "It was just one little fight. You really know how to hold a grudge. Youâre still not over it?"
Cara Preston was furious. "Get away from me! I donât even know you! If you donât back off, Iâm calling the police!"
Jack Judd chortled. "Even if you call the police, you canât hide the fact that weâve slept together. How can you just pull up your pants and pretend you donât know me? Are all women so shameless these days?"
Some of the other customers recognized Jack Judd and knew he was a local punk. Seeing things were about to get ugly, they quickly paid their bills and left.
The shop owner, afraid of losing business, said to them, "If you two are going to fight, take it outside!"
As a result, new customers who came in simply assumed they were a young couple having a spat.

The shop was near the main residential compound, so some people recognized both Cara Preston and Jack Judd. They were surprised to see her involved with someone like him.
Cara Prestonâs face was deathly pale. She roared, "Get lost! I donât know you!"
She tried to run after saying her piece, but Jack Judd scooped her into his arms. "Ooh, my wifey is so feisty. I love it!"
Cara Preston yelped in fright. It was the first time in her life a man had ever held her like that. Humiliated and furious, she viciously kicked his shin. He cried out in pain and let go, and she immediately bolted.
Jack Judd didnât chase after her. He just watched her retreating figure with a chuckle and announced to the onlookers, "My wifeyâs always like this. Talks all tough in public, but when itâs just the two of us... sheâs as passionate as they come!"
His words were dripping with innuendo. The older men and women in the crowd had been around the block, and they immediately understood his hidden meaning. One of the women remarked, "Young people these days... they have no sense of shame!"
"Isnât that the Preston Familyâs second daughter? She always looks so quiet and demure. I never would have thought she was already involved with a man. Really goes to show, you canât judge a book by its cover!"
"Tell me about it! You can know someoneâs face, but youâll never know their heart."
"Still, letâs wait and see. That guy is clearly bad news."
