"Want to eat this?" Li Mochan noticed her staring intently at the plate of hairy crabs and picked one up with his chopsticks.
Ye Jiuliangâs eyes gleamed, "Mhm."
Ji Mingqian observed the twoâs interactions while drinking his soup and felt more and more that Li Mochan didnât seem like someone with amnesia.
Veya saw the crab in her sonâs hand and could hardly bear to watch, "Asheng, why donât you eat something else?"
Jiang Yishengâs hand, which was breaking a crab leg, paused, his face showing helplessness.
He subtly reminded her, "Mom, this should be hereditary."
"Hahaha." Jiang Hai couldnât help but laugh.
Veya glared at him with feigned annoyance, "Is it that funny?"
Itâs just peeling shrimp and crabs; she just couldnât do it, so what? She has a husband anyway.
Thinking of the consequences of sleeping in the study, Jiang Hai instantly repressed his smile, seriously saying, "Not funny, not funny at all."
"Asheng, Mom canât peel it, but your dad can. You canât, so are you hoping that your girlfriend will peel it for you?" Veya said with all the righteousness in the world.
Ji Mingqian seized the keyword and suddenly spoke up, "You have a girlfriend?"
Jiang Yisheng tilted his head and gave him a roll of the eyes.
"If he had a girlfriend, Iâd be too happy to sleep," Veya smiled and then her thoughts suddenly shifted, "I think that girl named XaXinuoi Nuo is quite good, she looks well-matched standing with Asheng."
"Cough, cough."
Ye Jiuliang choked; Anuo and Asheng together?
If Chu Chen heard this, heâd probably come straight over to take her away.
Jiang Yisheng held his forehead and drew out the words, "My goodness, donât randomly matchmake, okay? She has a boyfriend."
"Already has a boyfriend?" Veya exclaimed, her tone full of regret.
"Look at you, if you donât hurry up, all the good girls will belong to someone else."
Ji Mingqian, enjoying the excitement and not caring if it got bigger, joined in the fun, "Exactly, Aunt Veya has a point."
"Youâre older than me, why donât you find one?" Jiang Yisheng quietly watched him stirring up trouble, baring his teeth at him.
Ji Mingqian said nonchalantly, "How do you know Iâm not looking? Iâll find one next time to show you."
Jiang Yisheng snorted disbelievingly.
The mocking laugh irritated Ji Mingqian, who said discontentedly, "Whatâs with that look, donât believe me, huh? The girls chasing me could go all around Beijing City."
Jiang Yisheng ignored him, stopped peeling the crab, and quietly continued eating his rice.
Thanks to Ji Mingqianâs fortune, the dining room was filled with laughter throughout the meal.
After dinner, Ji Mingqian and Ye Jiuliang went outside to the courtyard to chat, but they couldnât withstand Li Mochanâs cold looks, and their duo became a trio.
The heavy snow gradually stopped, and the cold night seemed a bit lonelier.
"I brought that piece of Mysterious Iron you asked for, itâs at the club. Iâve also brought your toolbox," Ji Mingqian said.
No one in the K organization had carving skills that could compare with hers, and the Mysterious Iron was hard to come by; it would be terrible if it were to be carved incorrectly.
Ye Jiuliang nodded, "That Qia Mian is tough, tell Achen to watch out and not fall for any traps."
When Qia Mian was mentioned, Ji Mingqianâs gaze involuntarily drifted toward Li Mochan.
There was sadness in his eyes, but also a bit of relief.
Fortunately, he hadnât completely forgotten Ajiu. As long as he trusted Ajiu, Qia Mianâs schemes would come to nothing.
"Ajiu, how do you see those rumors?"
"They should be orchestrated by the same people as Qia Mian. Those rumors have been dealt with," Ye Jiuliang said while squatting down, scooping up a handful of snow, and forming it into a snowball.
"Send me the design of the iron box to my computer."
Ji Mingqian nodded understandingly and asked curiously, "What do you plan to do after the iron box is finished?"
"Auction," Ye Jiuliang said with a mysterious smile.
Ji Mingqian was first taken aback, then he broke into a smile.
"I yield to you, Master Jiu," he teased.
Ye Jiuliang weighed the formed snowball in her hand and hurled it into the distance with force.
Watching the snowball shatter afar, Li Mochanâs lips curved up in a pampering smile.
Upon returning to the living room, everyone including Veya was there, except for Jiang Yisheng.
"Whereâs Asheng?" Ye Jiuliang asked.
Veya replied, "She went back to her room."
"Your room is next to Ashengâs room," Ye Jiuliang said, glancing back at Ji Mingqian who had just walked in, "find it yourself."
Having stayed in Mo Garden before, Ji Mingqian was familiar with the place and nodded lightly in acknowledgment.
The thin snow continued to blow, sticking to the glass windows, revealing an air of desolation in the darkness.
After taking a bath, Ye Jiuliang sat on the bed with her laptop, carefully studying the design plans for the iron box that Ji Mingqian had sent.
She was so engrossed that she did not notice when Li Mochan sat down next to her.
"What are you looking at?" a low magnetic voice sounded in her ear.
Without looking away from the screen, Ye Jiuliang said, "Design plans."
Li Mochan leaned in closer, his gaze falling onto the laptop screen.
He glanced over it briefly, showing little interest.
These past few days, Wei Bei and others had told him many things, even showing him the surveillance video from Mo Garden on the day of the incident; he knew someone had been lurking in the shadows, plotting against them.
As he watched her concentrated expression, Li Mochanâs gaze darkened slightly, "Has my memory loss made things very difficult for you?"
Earlier in the courtyard, from her conversation with Ji Mingqian, he could tell she was shouldering a heavy burden.
She must be suffering, right?
Detecting the despondency in his words, Ye Jiuliang was slightly startled and put the laptop aside. Turning to face him, she cracked a smile and asked, "Why would you say that?"
Li Mochan looked at her intensely, his lips pressed thinly together.
After a moment, he said, "You donât seem happy when you smile."
Despite the constant smile on her face, he always felt that something was missingâit was as if the smile he had seen before was not quite like this.
The smile at the corner of Ye Jiuliangâs mouth stiffened, and in a falsely cheerful tone she said, "Who says Iâm unhappy? Youâre thinking too much."
She reached out and pinched his jaw, leaning in to rub his nose with hers, "Li Wuye, being sentimental doesnât suit you."
Their proximity was too close, his warm breath spraying on his face made Li Mochanâs eyes suddenly deepen.
His voice softened involuntarily, "We couldnât get our marriage license on the day of the first snow; shall we go make it up tomorrow?"
A marriage license?
Ye Jiuliangâs gaze gradually became vacant, slightly dazed.
Until the manâs urging voice sounded again, pulling her thoughts back, "Yes or no?"
"Why do you want to get a marriage license with me?" Ye Jiuliang asked with a smile.
He replied without hesitation, "Because I like you."
"Just like?" Ye Jiuliang raised an eyebrow, asking with interest, "What if one day you fall for someone else?"
"That wonât happen," Li Mochan said, pulling her hand to rest on his heart.
"It only likes you."
The heartbeat under her palm was unmistakably clear, thumping rhythmically.
Ye Jiuliang chuckled softly, looking at his stubborn eyes and couldnât help but recall the scene of his drunk confession to her.
"Li Mochan, do you still remember when you got drunk that night and confessed to me for the first time, what did you use to confess?"
Li Mochan looked puzzled, "Hmm?"
