Despite the churchâs elite blocking them, nearly half of the high-level monsters still surge toward Henwellâs position.
These forty or fifty monsters swing their decapitation greatswords, clearing out every minion blocking their path without mercy.
Seeing the scene from afar, Henwell doesnât hesitateâhe turns on his heel and bolts.
If he gets surrounded here, he might die.
Henwell runs straight toward where Amir and the others are.
Two royal Iron Knights whoâd pulled back were there, both badly battered in the fight against the thug.
One Iron Knight had just finished patching up a stomach wound when the thug slashed him againâthis time tearing him open, guts spilling everywhere.
He stumbled back clutching his entrails, and the others scrambled to shove them back inside and wrap him up with whatever cloth they had.
The other Iron Knight is the kingdomâs only high-level female knight.
She had her right arm chopped clean off by that thug; if her comrades hadnât rescued her in time, sheâd have died on the spot.
No sooner had these two royal Iron Knights been bandaged than Henwell comes barreling in, dragging a huge pack of high-level monsters behind him.
King Amirâs heart breaks as he shouts, âDonât come this way!â
Henwell glances at him, then shifts course, dragging the monsters off in another direction.
This isnât some sudden burst of conscienceâHenwell actually wants to use this chance to wipe out more of the royal familyâs elite forces.
But the archbishop of insanely high rank is in this direction.
Most importantly, Arius is there!
Henwell has no choice but to divert elsewhere.
But aside from the main battlefield where the fighting is fiercest, no one else here has the strength to hold back these dozens of high-level monstersâeach as deadly as a Grand Knight.
And Henwell doesnât dare enter that brutal battlefield.
That thug kicked a huge chunk out of Henwellâs armor with a single strike.
Henwell himself suffers serious internal injuries, taking several minutes to crawl out.
After Henwell drags the monsters around the battlefield like a freight train, he unfortunately ends up right beside that creepy little house again.
And that weird little hut seems to sense Henwellâs arrival, spitting out a few more high-level monsters.
They land and immediately block Henwellâs path.
From that moment on, Henwell finds himself completely surrounded by over fifty high-level monsters.
No choice nowâhe has to fight like hell.
Blood-red mist rises from Henwellâs body as he swings his twin swords, throwing himself into a desperate, brutal brawl.
A few minutes later, after killing his eighth high-level monster, Henwell finally takes a heavy hit.
A decapitation greatsword pierces straight through his armor, carving a foot-long gash across his back.
Then a blazing whip lashes him, sending him flying.
He hits the ground and quickly rolls to dodge two more greatsword strikes, then slices through one monsterâs ankle with his twin blades.
Flipping upright like a carp, Henwellâs longsword slashes across the necks of two high-level monsters, nearly cleaving them in half.
But Henwellâs still in a bad spotâhe can only parry, dodge, and try to whittle down the enemies as best he can.
Seeing Henwell struggling and rolling on the ground, the thug bursts out laughing, âHahaha⊠yeah, thatâs it! Come on! Spin those twin swords to the BGM! Show your true form, Demon Hunter!â
At that moment, the song echoing through the square suddenly grows louder.
Under pounding drums, a rough male voice chants:
âOh, Lazar, Lazar!
The gods gather us here!
A sacred lineage, heavenâs destined pair!
Young boys and girls, matched in pairs!â(PS: Itâs computer gameâs bgm)
Henwellâs right hand swings the Dusk Greatsword, powerfully knocking aside a decapitation greatsword.
His left handâs Dawn Greatsword plunges deep into an enemyâs chest.
With a roar, Henwell shoves off the corpse, lunging forward and knocking down enemies rushing at him.
He ducks under a fiery whip strike and, as it retracts, cleverly wraps his sword hilt around the whip.
Using the whipâs pull, Henwell launches himself like a cannonball.
Midair, he adjusts his body flat, feet aimed at a high-level monster.
The Dusk Greatsword in his right hand slices off half the head of another monster on the way.
He slams his legs into the monsterâs chest, landing on the creatureâs crushed ribcage.
Swinging his longsword with all his might, he cleaves a nearby high-level monsterâs shoulder in two.
Then, twisting his left sword, he cuts the whip wrapping his wrist and simultaneously slices open the bleeding monsterâs head beneath his feet.
More high-level monsters flood in, surrounding Henwell once again.
And that rousing music keeps blasting on.
âBoy, take her as your wife.â
âGirl, marry him as your husband.â
âWalala, chaliya! Walala, chaliyaâŠâ
With this bizarre tune echoing, Henwell crashes left and right through the monster horde.
At the same time, the Lord Iron Guards stationed outside the palace charge in.
After over half an hour of fierce fighting, everyone realizes just how brutal these monsters areâmore backup is absolutely necessary.
The Lord Iron Guards are the fastest to arrive, all clad in heavy armor.
These fifty-plus knights, each holding a round shield and spear, form a tight little formation and charge into the fray.
Their effectiveness against the monsters far surpasses that of the endlessly arriving Blood Lion Knights.
Soon, the fully armored Lord Iron Guards reach Simon and his group.
As the forces merge, Simon snatches up a thrown shield and spear, stomping his foot as he yells, âDalton, are you fucking stupid? Â Why did you come here? Go save the lord! Heâs still surrounded!â
Deputy Guard Captain Dalton scans the chaotic battlefield, âWhereâs the lord? Isnât he with you?â
Simon doesnât have time to answer, raising his spear and roaring, âIron Guards, form up! Charge with me!â
Moments later, a triangular wedge assault formation takes shape.
Just then, Duke Amir shouts from nearby, âIn the name of the king, I order you to establish a defensive line here immediately!â
Simon shoots him a glare that basically says, âFuck you!â
Seeing the Lord Iron Guards still ready to charge toward Henwellâs position, Arius steps forward.
âSimon! Hold here for now. Iâll come with you to save Henwell!â
Arius isnât scared or cowardlyâhe knows that defying King Amir now would seriously screw Henwellâs future.
Heâs been watching Henwellâs situation closely; though itâs dire, Henwell is still holding on.
Right now, someone has to carve out a safe zone so more Blood Lion Knights can form ranks.
As Simon hesitates, Jansen speaks up, âListen to Arius!â
In the end, Simon grits his teeth and shifts direction, turning right to point the formationâs spearhead at the monster horde still pressing Amirâs side.
