Chapter 962: Chapter 962 Crisis
After more than twenty minutes, Tang Fengxiao and his group finally broke free from the encirclement of the Soul Chasing Bugs. Around them were the remains of reptiles that had been devoured completely by the insects. Everyone felt a chill deep inside, and the disdain they once harbored toward Tang Fengxiao was replaced by a trace of respect.
After all, being able to get out without a single scratch this time was thanks to Tang Fengxiaoâs efforts.
"Finally, weâre out!" Yuwen Xiangyu said with a relaxed smile. "Hey, Tang Fengxiao, not too shabby, huh?"
Tang Fengxiao extinguished the Fragrant Candle and responded with a faint smile.
Dark Night glanced at the terrain surrounding them and said, "Letâs not waste any time. Letâs push forward quickly. Who knows what dangers still lie ahead in Death Valley? Everyone, stay vigilant!"
The lesson from the Soul Chasing Bugs made everyone much more cautious. They advanced tens of kilometers but found no trace of the Red-eyed White Tiger.
"Master, itâs getting late. Should we head back?" Yuwen Xiangyu asked, glancing at the sky that was growing darker.
Dark Night replied irritably, "Head back? For what? Tonight, weâll camp in Death Valley. Tomorrow, weâll aim to meet up with the main group inside the valley!"
"You canât be serious!" Yuwen Xiangyuâs expression changed involuntarily. "Weâre camping in Death Valley? Thatâs..."
Yuwen Xiangyu had heard too many eerie tales about Death Valley and was naturally reluctant to spend the night there.
"Whatâs wrong? Getting scared now?" Dark Night teased with a laugh. "Who was it that insisted on coming along earlier?"
Yuwen Xiangyu fumed but, looking around, noticed that everyone else seemed indifferent to Masterâs decision. No one showed any signs of discontent.
"Do these people not know how terrifying Death Valley is?" Yuwen Xiangyuâs face revealed a puzzled expression.
Dark Night stepped forward and patted Yuwen Xiangyuâs head. "Donât worry. This is just the outskirts of Death Valley. Besides, with your master here, whatâs there to fear?"
Yuwen Xiangyu shook her head defiantly. "Who said Iâm scared? Iâm not afraid at all!"
What Yuwen Xiangyu didnât know was that everyone else here lived their lives at the edge of death. A night on the outskirts of Death Valley was merely a small inconvenience for them.
The night in Death Valley arrived quickly, forcing Dark Nightâs group to halt their search and find a place to camp.
The dangers in Death Valley were far greater at night than during the day. Even someone as powerful as Dark Night, with his Demi-God Domain abilities, wouldnât dare move recklessly at nightâlet alone the others who didnât possess such strength.
"What are you doing?" While the rest of the group searched for food and water, Yuwen Xiangyu noticed Tang Fengxiao circling the campsite. Occasionally, he pulled something from his pocket and sprinkled it around.
"Setting up a defensive perimeter," Tang Fengxiao replied, slightly tensing as a faint floral scent wafted toward him.
Yuwen Xiangyu asked curiously, "I saw you sprinkling something just now. Is it medicinal powder to ward off wild beasts?"
Tang Fengxiao nodded. "Thatâs right. This powder releases a scent that repels nearby wild animals away from our campsite."
"Really? That effective?" Yuwen Xiangyu thought for a moment before whistling.
A flash of white light appeared, and soon the White Leopard was at Yuwen Xiangyuâs side.
With a sudden snort, the White Leopard sneezed, its expression full of dislike. It had detected a scent it found particularly unpleasant in the air.
As the leopardâs gaze landed on Tang Fengxiaoâthe source of the smellâits eyes showed a certain hostility.

Yuwen Xiangyu calmed Xiao Bai down, then turned to Tang Fengxiao with astonished eyes. "I didnât think your powder would actually work! Even Xiao Bai dislikes the scent."
Tang Fengxiao gave a proud smile. After all, this was one of the Tang Sectâs creations.
"Xiangyu, come here for a moment!" At this point, Dark Nightâs voice called to her from a distance.
...
Night deepened. After everyone had their fill, they gathered in small groups, chatting away. In the Underworld, having more friends meant more opportunities, so many used the chance to expand their networks.
Though Tang Fengxiaoâs strength was unremarkable, the methods he had shown earlier had impressed others, leading many to express goodwill toward him.
"Who wouldâve thought heâd suddenly become so popular!" Yuwen Xiangyu muttered with a tiny huff, looking at the crowd gathered around Tang Fengxiao.
Dark Night shook his head. His disciple had many excellent traits but was occasionally a bit spoiled. He hoped that through these experiences, she could finally mature entirely.
The worldâs situation was turbulent and uncertain. Dark Night could sense an undercurrent of danger bubbling beneath the surface. If Yuwen Xiangyu didnât mature quickly, he wasnât sure heâd always be able to protect her.
Suddenly, Xiao Bai, lying beside Yuwen Xiangyu, raised its head and let out a low, wary growl. Its eyes gleamed coldly.
"Xiao Bai, whatâs wrong?" Yuwen Xiangyu froze.
Dark Nightâs ears twitched. He said solemnly, "Everyone, be on alert! Thereâs a wild beast closing in!"
A wild beast? Everyone froze. They couldnât sense anything unusual. But no more than three minutes later, a powerful presence surrounded them from all sides.
"Wolves!" Seeing pairs of glowing green eyes, the group couldnât help but gasp. Just how many wolves were there?
Oddly enough, though the wolf pack surrounded them, they didnât attack immediately. Instead, they circled hesitantly.
Yuwen Xiangyu asked delightedly, "Tang Fengxiao, could this be the effect of your powder?"
But Tang Fengxiaoâs face was devoid of any joy. With a grave voice, he replied, "Yes, my powder is indeed effective. But thatâs precisely why this is the most dangerous situation."
"What do you mean?" Yuwen Xiangyu asked, confused.
Tang Fengxiao sighed. "Dark Night, earlier I spread some beast-repelling powder around the campsite. If these wolves are still here despite it, then this isnât a random occurrence. I suspect these wolves are being controlled!"
"Controlled?" Dark Nightâs brow furrowed. "Youâre saying someone or something is behind this? Thatâs... hard to believe!"
Tang Fengxiao shook his head. "Iâm not saying itâs necessarily human. Some powerful beasts can control wolvesâlike the Wolf King or even the Red-eyed White Tiger!"
As soon as Tang Fengxiao finished speaking, a low growl echoed from behind the wolf pack.
Dark Nightâs expression changed dramatically. "That growl... Could it be the Red-eyed White Tiger?"
Before long, a majestic Red-eyed White Tiger, its body covered in snowy white fur, emerged before the group. Its crimson eyes gazed coldly at them, and everyone subjected to its scrutiny felt an icy wind blow through their hearts.
