Chapter 445: Chapter 445: He Was About to Vomit from Anger
The moment Paul Lowe finished speaking, Dora Archer went into full drama-queen mode. Wailing, she threw herself at the windowsill. "After something like this, I canât face anyone ever again! I might as well just die..."
She hadnât even opened the window, yet she postured as if she was about to jump from the ledge.
Paul Lowe rushed over to pull her back. "Honey, donât do anything rash!"
Dora Archer wailed loudly, "I donât want to live anymore..."
"Honey, donât be like this..."
As the two of them struggled by the window, two more people entered the room.
The leader was Henchman Number One in a black T-shirt. He waved the ID in his hand and asked loudly, "Police! Who called the cops?"
Zachary Conway and Sawyer exchanged a glance, looked at them, and asked doubtfully, "Are you from the local precinct?"
When Paul Lowe saw this, his heart skipped a beat, and a strong sense of unease washed over him.
âItâs over. These two henchmen of mine are fake cops.â
He desperately tried to signal them with his eyes, telling them to run, but the two henchmen didnât get the hint at all.
Henchman Number One, not knowing Zachary Conway was a police officer, retorted arrogantly, "And who are you?"
Henchman Number Two shoved Zachary Conway. "Weâre police conducting an investigation. Whatâs it to you?"
Zachary Conway frowned and showed his own police ID. "Iâm with the Municipal CID."
Henchman Number One and Henchman Number Two exchanged a look, instantly panicking.
âOh, crap. Did we run into a real cop?â
"Let me see your IDs." Zachary Conway beckoned. "Iâve never seen a colleague act so arrogantly, actually getting physical with someone."
Henchman Number One and Henchman Number Two looked at each other, so panicked their legs felt weak.
âWhat do we do?â
âWhat are we going to do now?â
âOur IDs are forgeries. If he can tell, wonât we be arrested and thrown in jail?â
"Hand them over," Zachary Conway snapped.
The two henchmen were terrified. With trembling hands, they handed over the IDs, silently praying they could somehow get away with it.
Zachary Conway could tell with a single glance that the IDs were fake.
His eyes narrowed as he sneered, "Youâve got some nerve, daring to impersonate police officers?"
"Officer, we didnât want to do it," Henchman Number Two said, quickly trying to shift the blame. "We were forced..."
Henchman Number One nodded vigorously. "Thatâs right, Officer! It was Leo who made us do it."
"Who is Leo?" Zachary Conway asked.
Henchman Number One and Henchman Number Two both turned to look at Paul Lowe.
Paul Lowe was so angry he could have coughed up blood. âFucking useless teammates.â
Yuri Sullivanâs face showed sudden realization. "I get it now! You were lying when you said you were going to call the police!"
"I..." Paul Lowe immediately started making excuses. "I just saw how young you are and wanted to give you another chance, didnât I?"
"Giving him a chance, or just afraid to call the police?" Renee Jennings said coolly.
Only then did Paul Lowe realize how many people were in the room. He scowled and said, "Bullshit! Whatâs there to be afraid of? My wife is the victim here!"
"Watch how you talk to my sister!" Sean Fuller snapped, displeased.
"Who the hell are you all?" Paul Lowe asked, annoyed. "Why are there so many random people here!"
"Youâre the random one!" Yuri Sullivan retorted. "Theyâre my saviors!"
âIf it werenât for them, Iâd probably never be able to show my face in public again.â
Paul Lowe was incredibly frustrated. He hadnât expected today to go so poorly.
He scratched his head, his eyes darting around. He then pulled a pack of cigarettes from his pocket, walked up to Zachary Conway, and said with a fawning smile, "Officer, how about a smoke?"
He offered a cigarette with one hand and held a lighter in the other, ready to light it for him.
Zachary Conway glanced at the cigarettes in his hand and held up a hand to block him. "No need for a smoke. Weâre here to solve a problem."
Paul Lowe chuckled and said, "Officer, like I said, my wife is the victim."
He pointed at Yuri Sullivan. "This guy had my wife deliver a fruit platter, and when she got here, he held her captive, stripped her naked, and was about to rape her..."
"SOB SOB SOB..." Dora Archer started crying again. "I canât go on living, my innocence is gone... Husband, after Iâm dead, you can find someone else to spend your life with."
With that, she went back to her performance of trying to jump out the window.
"Honey, donât be like this!" Paul Lowe struck an exaggerated pose as if he would die with her. "If you die, I donât want to live either!"
Everyone else: "..."
âDo these two actually think theyâre good actors?â
"Please calm down. Thereâs no need for any drastic measures," Sawyer said gently. "Once weâve investigated, if the facts are as you say, we will certainly not show any favoritism."
"Really?" Hearing this, Paul Lowe thought he had a chance. "Will you really get justice for my wife?"
Zachary Conway nodded. "Of course."
"Good!" Paul Lowe pulled Dora Archer in front of Zachary Conway and Sawyer. "Officers, let my wife tell you what happened."
"Yuri Sullivan and I met by chance while feeding stray cats. He took the initiative to add me on WeChat, and after that, we kept sending each other updates on the strays."
Dora Archer took out her phone and opened her chat history. "Then one day, Yuri Sullivan suddenly confessed his feelings for me. I ignored him, but he kept sending me inappropriate messages and stickers."
Her chat history had been selectively deleted.
"We ran into each other again tonight while feeding the stray cats. Afterward, he said heâd accidentally twisted his ankle but was craving fruit, so he asked me to buy a fruit platter and bring it to him."
Dora Archer wiped away tears as she spoke. "I felt sorry for him for a moment, so I agreed. I never imagined he could be such a monster..."
Yuri Sullivan was so angry he almost laughed. "Did you rehearse these lies? Youâre the one who told me to come to the hotel!"
"And another thing, do you think youâre the only one with a phone?" Yuri Sullivan also unlocked his phone. "This is our real chat history!"
"How can that be?" Dora Archer feigned shock. "I never sent you any of those messages! Did you secretly send them to yourself when you borrowed my phone?"
Yuri Sullivan: "..."
âIâm going to explode with rage. How can someone be so shameless!â
Yuri Sullivan took a deep breath, composed himself, and asked calmly, "Dora Archer, are you sure that I was the one who asked you to the hotel, took off your clothes, and tried to force you to sleep with me?"
"What else could it be?" Dora Archerâs tears streamed down her face, her expression pained. "I saw how young you were and treated you like a little brother, but I never thought youâd have ulterior motives!"
"How could you do this to my wife!" Paul Lowe said with a furious expression. "Youâre an animal!"
Yuri Sullivan stood up straight and looked at Zachary Conway and Sawyer. "Officers, I have evidence that proves Dora Archerâs words are false, and that she is maliciously slandering and defaming me."
When Dora Archer and Paul Lowe heard this, their expressions instantly changed.
âEvidence? What kind of evidence could this idiot possibly have?â
