Chapter 580: Chapter 580: How Could They Not Have Been in Love?
"Sheâs not my mother!" Yvonne Morganâs eyes were locked on Aria Sinclair, her expression hinting at a frenzied state. "You have no right to make me leave the Morgan family!"
Aria Sinclair watched her quietly. A flicker of some indistinct emotion crossed her mind before sinking under a wave of deep disappointment. Her gaze grew cold.
After a few seconds, a mocking smile played on her lips. "I am the mistress of the Morgan household. How could I possibly not have the right?"
"Yvonne, stop." Zoe Morgan was still trying to stop Yvonne from revealing it. It would be best if this secret could be kept from Aria Sinclair.
"Why shouldnât I?" Yvonne Morgan glared at her, exasperated. "Can you stop being so spineless?"
Michelle Fuller discreetly pulled a bag of caramel-flavored sunflower seeds from her HermĂšs bag and shared them with Renee Jennings and Sylvia Brooks.
The three of them began cracking the seeds, completely ignoring the drama around them.
Vincent Morgan was speechless.
Aria Sinclair glanced to the side and said slowly, "It seems youâve been hiding something from me."
Yvonne Morgan stood up and lifted her chin, her posture defiant. "Let me tell you the truth. I am Zachary Morganâs biological daughter. That means you have no right to make me leave the Morgan family. Just like Vincent Morgan, I have the right to inherit the family business!"
Zoe Morganâs heart skipped a beat. She looked anxiously at Aria Sinclair, only to find her expression exceptionally calm, composed, and even indifferent.
Yvonne Morganâs gaze swept over everyone in the room, as if trying to read their minds.
"Oh my god," Michelle Fuller whispered, covering her mouth with her hand. "All she cares about is the inheritance!"
Sylvia Brooks added in a low voice, "She only sees personal gain, with no regard for family ties."
As Aria Sinclair looked at Yvonne Morgan, her conversation with Renee Jennings from the previous night flashed through her mind.
âPeople really are worlds apart.â
âRenee turned down her offer of a house.â
âAnd Yvonne? All she cares about is the Morgan family fortune.â
"Youâre Zachary Morganâs biological daughter, so what?" Aria Sinclairâs laugh was laced with ice. "The Morgan family was in utter ruin back then. It was I who married into this family with a dowry worth tens of millions, and it was I who brought this nearly dead tree back to life."
Yvonne Morgan hadnât known about that. She frowned, her mind quickly concocting a dramatic backstory.
"I see now." Her gaze toward Aria Sinclair turned hostile. "You used your money to threaten my father and force him to break up with my biological mother! You wicked woman!"
Aria Sinclair arched an eyebrow as if sheâd heard a joke. "Who told you that? Did Zoe Morgan tell you that?"
Renee Jennings was also surprised. âHow can Yvonne say such things?â
"Isnât that what happened?" Yvonne Morgan said, her tone taking it for granted. "If it werenât for you, my birth mother would never have been forced to leave my father!"
Aria Sinclair didnât respond to her. Instead, she turned to look at Zachary Morgan, her icy gaze fixed on him, filled with silent fury.
"Utter nonsense!" Zachary Morgan strode forward, his face dark and menacing, a vein throbbing in his temple. "Zoe Morgan, your sister-in-law and I have treated you well! How dare you repay our kindness with such malice!"
"Brother, this is all a misunderstanding," Zoe Morgan explained hastily. "Yvonne has it all wrong."
"A misunderstanding?" Zachary Morgan snatched a ceramic cup from the coffee table, raised his arm, and hurled it at her. "Explain it to her clearly, right now, in front of me and your sister-in-law!" he snarled.
The ceramic cup slammed hard into Zoe Morganâs shoulder before falling to the carpet with a dull THUD.
She clutched her shoulder, her brow furrowed in pain. Her body trembled uncontrollably, and her face grew even more ghastly pale.
Yvonne Morgan clearly hadnât expected Zachary Morgan to resort to violence. Caught off guard, she flinched, her body going rigid as her breath hitched.
"Speak!" Zachary Morganâs voice rose, his eyes burning with a towering rage. "Zoe Morgan, if you donât make things clear today, believe me, I will beat you to death, and then Iâll kill your old flameâs daughter!"
He pointed a finger at Yvonne Morgan, his expression vicious.
"What does he mean?" Yvonne Morgan, bewildered and lost, spun around. She gripped the womanâs arms tightly, shaking her frantically. "Auntie, what other secrets are you hiding from me? Tell me, quick!"
"Yvonne," Zoe Morgan looked at her, her vision blurred by tears that streamed down her face. Her voice was choked with sobs. "Iâm sorry, Yvonne, Iâm so, so sorry..."
"Stop saying youâre sorry! What good does that do?" Yvonne Morganâs face showed her impatience. "Just explain it clearly, hurry up!"
As Zoe Morgan thought about what she had to say next, her heart felt as if it were being squeezed by a giant, invisible hand. A dull ache spread to her fingertips, and her breathing grew labored and heavy.
She opened her mouth, gasping for breath, and said in a tearful, trembling voice, "Yvonne, your father and your biological mother... they were never in love."
"What?" Yvonne Morganâs pupils contracted. A flicker of stunned disbelief crossed her eyes, and her tone was filled with suspicion. "Are you kidding me? How could they not have been in love?"
"Itâs true." Zoe Morgan closed her eyes in anguish. "When your birth mother met your father, my sister-in-law was already pregnant with Vincent."
Yvonne Morganâs brow furrowed, on the verge of a breakdown. "I donât believe it!"
"But it is the truth!" Zachary Morgan said grimly.
"Then how could they not have been in love?" Yvonne Morgan pressed urgently. "If they werenât in love, then how do I exist?"
A sarcastic smile touched Aria Sinclairâs lips. "Thatâs a story your dear aunt will have to tell you."
"You should never have existed in the first place!" Zachary Morgan spat, his disgust for this daughter growing with every thought of Genevieve Hayesâs shameful actions.
"Brother, please donât say that to Yvonne," Zoe Morgan pleaded, looking at him imploringly. "Thatâs too cruel to her."
"Cruel?" Zachary Morgan demanded, his anger boiling over. "You two did something so filthy, and that wasnât cruel to your sister-in-law and Renee Jennings?"
Yvonne Morgan let out a frantic scream. "What is going on?"
âNone of this happened in my last life!â
Zoe Morgan was sobbing too hard to speak. "Yvonne, itâs all my fault. I was a fool, and I led your birth mother to make a terrible mistake..."
"What mistake? Tell me!" Yvonne Morgan yelled, shaking her aunt violently.
Zoe Morgan squeezed her eyes shut, her body shaking uncontrollably. She didnât dare look at Yvonneâs expression.
Her lips trembled as she forced the secret out through clenched teeth: "Your father... he never liked your birth mother. I was the one... I secretly drugged him so that your mother could... get pregnant with you while he wasnât in his right mind."
"Mind-blowing," Michelle Fuller muttered. Even hearing it a second time, she still found it completely absurd.
"Are... are they really brother and sister? Or did Yvonneâs mother save Aunt Zoeâs life or something?" This was the first time Sylvia Brooks had heard the story, and she was completely stunned. What kind of sister would scheme against her own brother like that?
