Chapter 1902: Chapter 1902: At a Loss Whether to Laugh or Cry
When Yang Yunlin visited the old residence to see Yang Yuanshan today, he was harshly scolded by Yang Yuanshan.
Feeling aggrieved, Yang Yunlin tried to explain a few times, but retorted as well, which ended up thoroughly angering Yang Yuanshan.
Yang Yuanshan lost his temper and lashed out at Yang Yunlin.
Yang Yunlin, also in a fit of anger, didnât give his father any face and slammed the door as he left.
Upon hearing Yang Qingyin mention such an important matter, Luo Ziling immediately stopped talking and invited Yang Qingyin for a walk by Lake Wuming.
Yang Qingyin didnât refuse and agreed readily.
Twenty minutes later, Luo Ziling met Yang Qingyin by Lake Wuming.
Both were wearing hats and glasses, making them unrecognizable to those who werenât familiar with them.
After meeting, Yang Qingyin explained the situation to Luo Ziling again, then asked, âWhy do you think my dad and grandfather would have a fight?â
âPerhaps, this isnât a good sign,â Luo Ziling thought of the speculation he had a few days before, feeling a bit worried.
After a moment of silence, Yang Qingyin asked softly, âDo you think that my grandfather and my dad have increasing differences on many matters, which could eventually cause a fallout between them?â
âDonât you think things are indeed developing in that direction?â Luo Ziling didnât deny it but instead shared his speculation, âI feel your father does not wish for your grandfather to recover.â
Upon hearing Luo Ziling say this, Yang Qingyin was taken aback and then fell into contemplation.
In the end, she didnât dismiss Luo Zilingâs words, and after lightly nodding, she said, âIt really is a possibility that canât be ruled out.â
âTherefore, your father doesnât want us to continue treating your grandfather.â Luo Ziling smiled bitterly, âBut I hope our guess is wrong.â
âIf your guess is wrong, then what could it be?â
âPerhaps, they are conspiring to act together.â
âActing what?â
âI donât know,â Luo Ziling wearily spread his hands, âIf I could figure it out, Iâd be an old fox myself.â
âThough itâs possible, I still donât believe my dad wishes for my grandfatherâs early demise.â
âWithout your grandfather, everything in the Yang Family would be under your fatherâs control,â Luo Ziling reminded.
âRight now, almost everything in the Yang Family is under his control,â Yang Qingyin argued, âEver since my grandfather fell ill, he has hardly dealt with family affairs, leaving them to my father. As for state matters, he has shirked much responsibility; now, he most hopes to nurture his health.â
âInvestigate more about whatâs going on between them, so you wonât be caught off guard,â Luo Ziling advised Yang Qingyin, âI think you surely have means to find out some information.â
Yang Qingyin looked at Luo Ziling peculiarly for a few moments but eventually nodded.
The two didnât exchange much else and leisurely strolled along Lake Wuming.
When they reached the spot where they had first met, Luo Ziling laughed and said, âThat night, it was right here that I jumped over, giving you quite a fright.â
Remembering their first meeting, Yang Qingyin couldnât help but feel tenderly nostalgic.
She gazed at Luo Ziling for a while then sweetly asked, âHow did you jump over such a tall shrub?â
âLet me show you,â Luo Ziling said, running to the other side for a short run-up, leaping over with a mid-air flip.
In Yang Qingyinâs surprised exclamation, he held her close, then laughed, âThat day was just like this, except I ended up holding an incredible beauty.â
Seeing Luo Ziling holding her in his arms without regard for the glances of nearby students, Yang Qingyin flushed with embarrassment and struggled to break free.
But Luo Ziling didnât let her go, keeping an arm around her shoulder as they continued to walk.
Seeing that no one recognized them, Yang Qingyin relented and let Luo Ziling hold her.
After circling Lake Wuming twice, realizing it was almost time for class, they parted ways.
In the afternoon, Luo Ziling received a phone call from the Dean of the School of Medicine, Wu Mingyun, asking him to go to the principalâs office.
After some thought, Luo Ziling didnât refuse, excusing himself from the Inorganic Chemistry class to head to the principalâs office.
When he arrived, Wu Mingyun was already there.
Seeing the two principals in a seemingly cheerful mood, Luo Ziling roughly guessed what it was about.
âYesterday, the premier summoned people from the Ministry of Education, Health and Family Planning Commission, and Traditional Chinese Medicine Administration Bureau to discuss about Yan Universityâs plan for a new major, and the establishment of a national traditional Chinese medicine laboratory,â without waiting for Luo Ziling to inquire further, Li Jinghui explained, âThe premier supports us in establishing a national-level laboratory. When a national-level laboratory is set up, the related academic disciplines will certainly follow.â
Wu Mingyun took over the conversation, âAlthough leaders from other departments expressed their views, no one explicitly opposed. That is to say, unless something unexpected happens, these two major projects can both succeed.â
âBut other schools, like Huaxia University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and similar colleges, are sure to object since weâve stolen their spotlight and possibly their opportunities,â Li Jinghui laughed heartily, âBut then again, with the kind of talent weâve attracted, what can they say?â
As Li Jinghui spoke, he pushed a document in front of Luo Ziling, âThis is our schoolâs admission notice for the next semester. What do you think of the design?â
Luo Ziling took the admission notice and saw that his photo was prominently displayed on the cover.
Not only him, but there were also a few others.
Two women, one was Luo Yuqing and the other was Yang Qingyin.
âPrincipal Li, why do we have pictures of the three of us on it?â Luo Ziling couldnât help but find it amusing.
âYou three are legends at Yan University, also quite good-looking; using you as our schoolâs promotional brand, any objections?â Li Jinghui laughed, âI will check with the two of them for their opinions, and if all of you approve, these will be the admission notices for the next semester.â
Not giving Luo Ziling a chance to continue voicing opinions, he immediately changed the subject, âIf in the future you take on the responsibilities of a national-level laboratory, and make significant inventions and discoveries, your fame will be more resounding, admired for generations by Yan University people. Luo Ziling, this is both your honor and your responsibility, you must strive hard.â
âFirst, letâs get these two major tasks done,â Wu Mingyun reminded Li Jinghui, âPrincipal Li, once these tasks are done, Ziling and his companions are sure to accomplish even more outstanding feats, creating even more miracles.â
âLuo Ziling, we hope the next person standing on the Nobel Prize stage is you,â Li Jinghui stood and patted Luo Zilingâs shoulder heartily, âWe hope you become the worldâs youngest Nobel laureate; you would surely become a legend.â
Luo Ziling replied, half-laughing and half-crying, âAlright then, I can only say, thank you both for your trust, I will certainly work hard.â
Although his words were somewhat against his true feelings, Luo Ziling admitted that Jinghuiâs remarks had indeed sparked a bit of expectation in him.
