"M-Mevis-sensei, what are you doing here?"
Noa was both shocked and delighted.
It had been a long time since they last parted. Future Noa had already returned to her rightful timeline, while Mevis, under Rosvisserās arrangement, had gone into seclusionāhiding from her family.
At the time, Mevis had used the excuse of "continuing her journey to become a complete dragon" to say ā ššØšÆšš„š¢š š”š ā goodbye to the young dragon girls. But only Noa knew that wasnāt the truth.
After fifty years apart from her family, Mevis-sensei surely wouldāve stayed to be with her sister and their mother.
Yet now, here she wasāon the battlefield against an external invasion. Noa couldnāt help being surprised.
"The prince sent me."
Mevis crouched down just like she used to, bringing her gaze to level with Noaāsā
a habit inherited from future Noa, now naturally part of Mevisās mannerisms.
"A few days ago, the prince came to me personally and said the Silver Dragon Clan might face an attack soon. The enemy would be strong, and he wanted all available combat forces to prepare in advanceāincluding me."
"Dad, huhā¦"
No wonder heād been so calm about leaving Rosvisser, Noa, and her sisters at home, even knowing how powerful the Void Realm enemies could be.
Turns out⦠he had already prepared for this.
And not only thatāsince he anticipated the Void would come for them directly, he had even arranged for Isha to stay behind.
The facts proved that the princeās foresight wasnāt baseless or excessive.
They had barely been gone for two weeks before the Void Realm attacked.
"But sensei, you donāt have your Primordial Power anymoreā"
Mevis smiled and reassured her. "Thatās nothing to worry about, Noa."
She lowered her gaze to her right hand, flexed it into a fist, and continued,
"During the fifty years you borrowed my body, you kept training diligently. So now, even though I canāt use Primordial Power, my strength is still basically the same as when you possessed me.
A true overachiever stays an overachiever, no matter the timelineā¦"
Whether it was her own body or someone elseās, present or futureāMevis had always been tirelessly grinding.
And besides, sheād always been an elite warrior of the Black Moon Dragon Clan.
Even without future Noaās cheat-like hacks, she still more than deserved to stand on this battlefield.
"Thank you for coming, sensei."
Noa paused for a moment, then asked,
"You said earlier that Dad called other people too? Who areā"
Mevis looked past Noaās shoulder.
"Theyāre here."
Noa turned aroundāand saw, descending onto what had moments ago been an empty high-level battlefield, several massive dragons.
Overwhelming draconic pressure swept across the Silver Dragon lordās border, sending violent gusts that whipped Noaās hair around her face.
She narrowed her eyes, straining to look ahead.
BOOM!
BOOM!
BOOM!
The giant dragons landed around the battlefield one after another, each landing shaking the very earth.
Kaiser and Carl, still mid-battle, immediately stopped and turned to look.
Carl stared at the arriving Dragon Kings, their overwhelming presence making it hard to even breathe.
Thunder, flames, golden sandāand above them, a blue sea dragon hovering in the sky.
Carl swallowed nervously.
"If the intelās right, these are the princeās old allies from the Shadow campaign."
"Thunder Dragon King Odin, Flame Dragon King Constantine, Goldsand Dragon King Morgan, and Sea Dragon King Claudiaā¦"
"Kaiser⦠letās bail. That guy brought out his full Shadow-fighting lineup to deal with us."
Carl wasnāt exaggerating.
This lineupāaside from General Leon, Little Hawk, and future Noaāwas exactly the fearsome team that had once brought down the Shadow.
But Kaiser remained calm as ever.
His deep violet eyes swept over the gathered Dragon Kings, and then he said quietly,
"I fought the Silver Dragon Queen for a few rounds. With the Sacred Spearās support, her combat strength has jumped a few tiersābut not enough to instantly crush you."
Carl wiped sweat from his brow. "So"
"You gather the nearby Void soldiers and keep the Silver Dragon Queen occupied. Just five minutes should be enough."
Carl stared at him in disbelief. "Why the hell do I need to stall her for five minutes?"
Kaiser flicked his sword, a surge of Void energy rippling outward.
"Because I need five minutes to take care of the Dragon Kings."
Carl gawked at him, opening his mouth to say something, but in the end, he just swallowed his words.
He launched a small energy blast into the skyāthe signal for Void soldier assembly.
"I have no idea just how crazy strong you areā¦"
With that, he charged toward Rosvisser alongside the gathered Void warriors.
Seeing the sudden offensive aimed at her, Constantine and the others immediately moved to assist.
But a ghostly violet figure dropped in their path.
Kaiser brushed the dust and energy residue from his shoulders, standing firm in their way.
He drew his sword and pointed it directly at the massive dark blue dragon in the center.
"Your opponent⦠is me."
In front of these colossal beings, Kaiserās figure was laughably small. Like an ant trying to topple a mountain.
And yet, Odin didnāt back down. He launched his opening move: S-Class Thunder Magic Ā· Hellcage Execution.
A roaring cage of lightning formed, trapping Kaiser and bombarding him with high-voltage strikes.
But with a deafening boom, Kaiser broke free using raw energy alone.
He shot into the sky, trailing a long stream of blue flame behind him.
"Tough little bastard, huh? Try this on for size!"
At once, the previously clear sky turned brown with dust storms.
A raging sand tornado surrounded Kaiser, the eye of the storm drawing ever tighter.
Then, wizard Kassadibambi raised his staff and infused it into Morganās sandstorm, making it heavier and harder to escape.
"Flame-breather! Burn that punk to ash!"
"I donāt need your damn orders."
Grumbling aside, old Constantine obediently stepped in, floating above the storm eye and blasting a torrent of hellfire downward.
The Flame Dragon Kingās fire solidified the wet sand even further, while the stormās inner heat reached temperatures enough to incinerate any carbon-based life.
Just then, a black dragon soared in from the other side of the battlefield and on its back stood a small figure.
A glowing white crescent crackling with lightning flew straight into the eye of the sandstorm.
Noa, having unleashed a full-power, modified Primordial Thunder Moon Slash, finally ran out of juiceāPrimordial Mode was forcibly deactivated.
She collapsed onto Mevisās dragon back, half-kneeling, eyes fixed on the towering sandstorm.
"ā¦Did it workā¦?"
There was silence for several secondsāuntil a sharp crack sounded. Cracks spread across the hardened shell of the storm, and deep violet light seeped through.
BOOM!!
The entire tornado exploded, and a figure shot out like a meteor.
"I told you. Five minutesāto finish you all."
Kaiser slashed toward Morgan midair.
"Youāve got the widest area-control magic, so youāre first. After that, the rest are easy."
He lunged at the dark golden dragon and swung his sword.
"You little punk! Odin has area-control too! Why are you cutting me first!"
Complaints aside, Morgan was still a top-tier dragon warrior. He wasnāt about to be brought down by such an obvious attack.
A wave of golden sand surged up to form a solid shield between him and Kaiser.
"M-My sand shield is tougher than old Bistaās bell!"
"Even that Silver Dragon Prince would need serious effort to break through it..."
But in the very next instant, what looked like a plain and simple slash from Kaiser landed square on Morganās face.
Kaiserās blade sliced clean through the sand shield like paper and, in a blink, he was right above Morgan.
"Take this!"
Kaiser gripped his sword in both hands, raised it high, then slammed it down hard. The blade erupted with a massive wave of light energy, smashing straight onto Morganās body at nearly point-blank range.
The golden dragon let out a howl of pain, his head forced low as sand and dust exploded all around him.
"Next⦠another support type. You go down next."
With that, Kaiser shot toward Claudia, who had just shifted into human form and unfurled her dragon wings. She tried to meet him in midair, but...
Without surpriseāKaiser found an opening and caught her mid-swing, kicking her straight down.
Claudia crashed to the ground, gouging a deep crater. She coughed up a mouthful of blood, clutching her chest and looking up at Kaiser.
"His speed is increasing... and his attack power too... Whatās going on?"
It had only taken a few moves, but Claudia could already sense the transformation in Kaiser, proof that his power escalation in battle was no joke.
"Next up, the hot-headed flame-breather."
Kaiser turned toward Constantine, eyes filled with absolute confidence.
"I've only ever seen one other person this arrogant. You're the second."
But Constantine wasnāt the type to flinch. "Letās see if youāve got the skills to match it."
"Youāll find out soon enough."
And just like that, the two of them launched at each other with blinding speed, fire clashing with violet energy, a thunderous shockwave shaking the battlefield.
For a moment, they were evenly matched.
"Nowās our chance! Letās go help, Noa!"
"Right, Sensei!"
Noa and Mevis launched a surprise attack from the flank while Kaiser was locked in with Constantine.
The old Dragon Kings werenāt to be underestimated either. Seeing how strong Kaiser was, they immediately jumped into the fray.
A storm of violet lightning surged, and the old dragonāriled by Kaiserās overwhelming pressureāthrew out his full strength without hesitation.
"Ultra S-Class Thunder Magic Ā· Falling Thunder Cataclysm!"
"Youāre not dodging this, brat!"
Constantine narrowed his eyes. "You donāt have that other guyās skills after all."
But Kaiser stayed calm. His voice was smooth and unwavering:
"You think I dodge because you believe if you stall me long enough, your allies will land a hit."
"But solving that problem is far too easy for me. First of all⦠none of you are strong enough to keep me stalled."
"What?"
Before Constantine could react, Kaiserās power surged dramatically.
A pillar of violet flame exploded around him, engulfing Constantineās dragon body and leaving no room for retaliation.
The old dragon king clenched his massive axe, scanning incoming attacks from NoaĀ and Mevis.
"Second... I never planned on dodging."
BOOM!
Three high-level spells slammed into Kaiser, triggering a massive explosion in midair.
The resulting energy blasted outward, and when the smoke cleared, Kaiser was still floating steadily.
Surrounding him was what looked like an invisible shield.
"Thatās not⦠airā¦
Itāsāwind."
Facing the frontlines, Noa narrowed her eyes and murmured,
"Wind Spirit Thunder Core..."
As Claudia spoke, Morgan slowly retreated to Odinās side.
"His power fluctuations⦠theyāve grown again."
Claudia added, "We canāt keep trading hits in sequenceāwe have to attack together and end this in one blow. If we drag this out, heāll just keep getting stronger, and weāll be in more and more trouble."
Odin nodded.
The Dragon Kings all reverted to human form, preparing for a coordinated melee assault.
Two fists canāt beat ten, let alone the combined might of several Dragon Kings. One clean hit would be enough to decide the outcome.
Mevis landed softly on the ground, lowering the still dragonless Noa.
"Theyāre going in for close combat in the sky. Iāll go support them.
You find a chance to land a sneak attack," Mevis said.
Noa hesitated, then spoke up. "Wait, Sensei. I have an idea."
Mevis raised a brow. "...What is it?"
"Close combat, huh? Iāve been curious to see how good you Dragon Kings really are."
Kaiser retracted his longsword and looked around at the surrounding humanoid Dragon Kings. He raised one hand slowly and crooked four fingers at Odin.
"Come on."
"Letās go!"
With that signal, the Dragon Kings launched forward.
Fists flew, roaring through the air like sonic booms. Their movements were so fast they became blurs, trading blows midair.
The sheer power of their strikes distorted the atmosphere itself.
Under the relentless assault, Kaiser finally spotted an opening in Morganās guard. He landed a brutal kick to Morganās chest, sending him flying.
The attack formation was broken, exposing more weaknesses. Kaiser handled every incoming blow with ease.
"Damn it, heās even faster!" Constantine cursed.
"We could suppress him at first, but ten strikes in, none of our attacks are landing anymore..." Claudia gritted her teeth.
She had never seen a technique like this before, and sheād seen nearly everything.
Mevis stayed silent, hovering above Kaiser, applying pressure. Kaiser seemed to deem her the least threatening, so his defense was lighter in her direction, which gave Mevis her chance.
"Constantine! Target his neck!"
"Donāt go barking orders like Iām your minion!"
But after a few more exchanges, Odin and Constantine finally caught a sluggish movement. They struck in unisonāone from the left, one from the rightāaiming for Kaiserās jaw.
Claudia followed up with her Raging Sea Flute to lock him down.
"...Now!"
Mevis suddenly pulled back, stretched out her arms, and gathered a crescent-shaped bolt of lightning.
"Thunder! Moon! Slash!"
The Thunder Moon Slash struck Kaiser directly, slamming him hard into the ground.
The Dragon Kings followed, giving him no breathing room. The battle shifted from the skies to the chaotic earth below.
"Tch⦠I got careless. But from here on, you wonāt get another chance!"
Even as Kaiser defended against the relentless barrage, he suddenly noticed small figures slipping quietly into the chaos.
"Kids shouldnāt play in grown-up battles."
He growled and let off a blast of energy, flinging everyone nearby.
But just as Noa was about to be thrown, Kaiser grabbed her by the ankle and instead of tossing her violently, he gently "placed" her off to the side.
If sheād been hit like the others, she wouldāve been injured for sure.
Noa landed, scrambled up, and squared off against him.
"I donāt hit kids. And that white form of yours is gone. Youāre no match for me. Leave."
"You're surprisingly principled⦠but sorry."
Kaiser blinked. "Sorry? What do you mean?"
Noa stepped back. Mevis, now back in dragon form, swooped down behind her. Noa flipped onto her back, reached behind her waist... and pulled out a small, sparkling object, holding it up high.
Kaiserās eyes widened. He quickly checked his pocket.
"The Wind Spirit Coreā¦!"
The black dragon carrying Noa soared away from the battlefield. Looking down, Noaās icy little face curved into a mischievous smile.
"Attacked six Dragon King successors in a row. Pretty shameful battle record, if you ask me."
