Kaiser overlooked one thingāhe wasn't the only one trying to steal something from the enemy in this battle.
And it was his own carelessness that let it happen. Heād inadvertently used the power of the Wind Spirit Thunder Core, which gave that little brat the idea to snatch it.
After Noa slipped away with the Core, something subtle shifted in Kaiser's mindset.
He rushed forward immediately, trying to take it back.
However, the Dragon Kings, led by Odin, surged in to block his path.
āKid, getting something that important stolen by a childāmust sting, huh?ā
Morgan tried to fan the flames of the already simmering rage within Kaiser.
āWhat a shame. Seems your intel wasnāt thorough enough. If youād taken a closer look at the Silver Dragon Princeās eldest daughter, you wouldāve kept a much tighter guard. Puhuhuhu.ā
Kaiser clenched his teeth, keeping his composure.
Though his mental state had cracked slightly, it wasnāt enough to make him lose all rationality and lash out mindlessly.
The Dragon Kings, who had been holding the front lines until now, clearly shifted tactics from suppression to delay.
And the latter was far easier than the former.
If Kaiser still chose to attack recklessly, they were ready to face him head-on. But if he tried to stall, theyād gladly play along, giving that brat time to get far, far away.
Realizing this, Kaiser immediately dropped the conventional battle plan.
He turned to search for Carl, wanting to coordinate the next move.
But when he looked overāCarl was already on the verge of getting beaten into a crippled pulp by Rosvisser, who was wielding the Sacred Spear.
Even the airborne cavalry Carl had summoned were strewn all over the ground.
Just as Kaiser could take down the Dragon Kings in five minutes, Rosvisser could obliterate Void Realm fighters in the same time.
The Wind Queen flicked her spear with a feint, spun, and launched a fierce side-kick that sent Carl flying.
After crashing through several trees, Carl's body finally slammed into a pile of rocks and stopped.
āWell done, Little Ros!ā
Isha had just taken down the last Void soldier on her side and ran over to Rosvisser.
But she was so drained that her steps faltered, nearly tripping.
āSis, are you okay?ā
Rosvisser hurriedly moved to support Ishaās arm.
Isha shook her head. āIām fine. I just didnāt expect the Sacred Spear transformed from Xiaoxue to be this powerfulāit totally flattened that guy.ā
Rosvisser looked down at the golden spear in her hand and murmured,
āItās true⦠itās so strong I can hardly believe it myself.ā
Wounded, Carl gazed over at them, his eyes eventually locking onto Isha.
āThis damn Red Dragon tail is about at its limit⦠looks like Kaiser got the Core⦠Iāve got no choice. Iām gonna gamble!ā
With that, Carl dragged his broken body forward, forcibly squeezing out the last of his strength, and shot toward Isha.
As the sisters conversed, Rosvisser instantly sensed Carlās movement and turned with a sweeping strike of her spear.
Golden energy exploded outward, sending the would-be attacker flying.
āKaiser!! That Red Dragonās totally exhausted!! Trade her for the Core!!ā
Carl screamed hoarsely.
Kaiser froze. āWhatā¦ā
āHurry up!! Kaiser!! If we lose the Core, do you think the master will let you live?! Screw your damn principles!!ā
In that moment, a storm of thoughts tore through Kaiserās mind.
After a brief hesitation, he gritted his teethāand in a flash, appeared behind the two sisters.
Rosvisser raised her spear to defend, but Kaiser wasnāt aiming for her at all.
His target was... Isha!
Kaiser leapt into the air and landed a spinning kick on Rosvisserās spear.
Rosvisser grounded her feet, digging a long double track in the earth as she absorbed the impact.
Separated from her sister, Isha was left vulnerableāand Kaiser lunged straight at her.
Isha, almost out of strength, could barely react in time before Kaiserās hand locked around her throat.
āSis!!ā
āAunt Isha!ā
āRed Dragon Kingā¦ā
Kaiser held her up by one knee, lifting her steadily into the air.
Isha gripped his wrist, her crimson dragon eyes reflecting his face.
On Kaiserās face was a subtle⦠and oddly helpless expression.
āYouāve been fighting using Primordial Power this whole time. Itās obvious that kind of technique takes a toll on someone like you. But unlike your sister, you donāt have the Sacred Spear Gungnirās support.ā
His voice was low.
āYour other techniques are mostly physical strikes, which obviously burn through stamina much faster.ā
āAnd the rest of those Dragon Kings are still in top form, soā¦ā
He paused, let out a heavy sigh, and looked away.
No longer meeting Ishaās gaze, he continued.
āSo Iām left with no choice but to use you as a hostage.ā
Isha tried to fight back, but Kaiser had been rightāher fighting style drained her magic and stamina. Now that he had her locked down, she had no way to escape.
āGoddamn it⦠fuck, using a hostage and still wearing that 'I didn't want to do this' face?ā Isha growled through gritted teeth.
Kaiser opened his mouth, as if to speak.
But the words never came outāhe swallowed them back down.
āNice job, Kaiser!ā
Carl sneered, casting a glance at Isha and then turning to Kaiser. āThis time, no way they wonāt hand over the goods.ā
Kaiser ignored him and looked at Rosvisser and the Dragon Kings.
āSheās your sister, isnāt she?ā
Kaiser said,
āGive me back the Wind Spirit Thunder Core, and āŖ NоvеlŃgŅ»t āŖ (Official version) Iāll release her.ā
āYes! And the Key tooāhand them both over!ā Carl chimed in.
Kaiser shot him a cold glance before turning back to the opposing group.
āIāll trade the Core. The KeyāIāll fight for it.ā
Carl blinked, totally caught off guard.
āKaiser, you!āā
āThe enemy already broke my principles. But losing the Coreāthatās my own failure. So I can accept doing this to get it back.ā
Kaiser said calmly, composed,
āIf the master punishes me, Iāll take the blame alone.ā
Carl, frustrated but resigned, said nothing more. He knew what Kaiser was likeārigid as steel, would rather break than bend.
So he stayed silent and let the negotiation play out.
āI donāt have much patience. Hand over the Core.ā
Kaiser demanded.
āSisā¦ā
Rosvisser tightened her grip on the Sacred Spear. She knew Kaiser's strengthāif they attacked rashly, he could kill Isha in an instant.
āDonāt, donāt give it to him!ā
Isha rasped. āYou mustnāt let those Void Realm bastards win!ā
āBut sisāā
āLittle Ros! Donāt give it to him, do you hear me! Get Noa as far away from here as possible!ā
āIā¦ā
Kaiser listened silently to the sistersā exchange, his dark purple eyes faintly melancholic.
āSo, no matter what world it is⦠older sisters always talk to their younger siblings like this.ā
He muttered, a little wistful, a little nostalgic.
But quickly, Kaiser raised his head again.
āIāll give you five seconds. Otherwise⦠Iāll kill her.ā
āAunt Ishaā¦ā
āLet go of the Red Dragon King, you despicable bastard!ā
āā¦ā
No matter how much Morgan tried to provoke him, Kaiser just listened quietly.
āThreatening your enemy with a hostageās life⦠itās always been a deadlock, from ancient times to now.ā
Kaiser said in a low voice, āSo donāt waste time. There wonāt be any surprises. Hand over the Wind Spirit Thunder Coreāā
āWhat do you mean, āthere wonāt be any surprisesā?ā
A voice interrupted him from the back of the crowd.
āYouāre using Isha as a hostageāthen Iāll use your sister.ā
The moment that familiar voice rang out, it was like Rosvisser had grabbed hold of a lifeline. A gleam passed through her silver eyes.
She and Noa turned toward the voice.
The spatial gate slowly openedāand out stepped three figures.
āLeonā¦ā
