"I miss you."
"Please, Mr. CEO. Donāt forget your public image."
"What are you calling me?" Stuartās voice turned cold suddenly. Apparently, he didnāt like what she called him.
"Mr. CEO," Edie looked quite innocent as if she didnāt know why he got angry so suddenly.
Stuart suddenly realized something.
Shit. He almost forgot they already divorced. Edie was no longer his wife now.
"We should leave for A tomorrow. We should register again."
"Youād better take care of yourself. As for our marriage, we still have a long time. Besides, since I am now a single lady, I am free to date with different kinds of guys. That is great. I donāt rush to jump into the grave of marriage."
Edie showed a relaxing smile. Looking at Stuartās anger, she felt she was totally recovered from the sorrow and depression these days.
He was so determined to divorce her. Then that was the result. Take it.
"Edie, I apologize. You can do whatever you want to do to me. But donāt ever consider divorce. I would never let you go unless I die."
Stuart sounded so determined.
Edie didnāt like what he said. She frowned, "What the hell are you talking about? Eat something now. I want you to be alive, staying with me."
Looking at her beautiful face, Stuart felt so warm at the bottom of the heart.
It was so good with Edie around him.
Next morning.
Bette arrived at the training base quite early. She knitted her brows and glared. She looked so worried as if she already realized how heavy the conversation with Stuart would be.
When she walked into Stuartās ward, Edie was not in there. She was a little surprised.
"She was preparing for breakfast. She wonāt hear our conversation," Stuart said.
"Great. We donāt need to tell her now. The later, the better. You looked much better now. Thatās so great. I can take relief now." Bette said.
"I think you know what I want to talk about to you today. Youāve seen all those happening in A. I believe you also realized something, right? "Stuart asked in a cold voice.
The vice presidentās face looked bad, especially when Stuart started talking about the point today. She knew who was the mole. But that made her feel worse.
She knew, but...she didnāt want to acknowledge.
But she had to, "you mean your uncle, right?"
"No one is more susceptible than him. Youāve been with Tammie Lynch for three years. But thereās seldom people knowing this. When Ann Lara stole her familyās confidential file and gave it to Stanley, the Laraās was confronted with great loss. But Gregās started boosting. The Lynch cooperated with Laraās once, so they knew these secrets. Because Tammie needed finance to help you, he sold this information to Stanley, helping Stanley escape from Laraās investigation. After all, Laraās headquarter was located in the River State. They are not familiar with A. That was why they couldnāt find Ann and Edie after looking for them for such a long time.
"Iāve been thinking about this for quite a long time. Except you and Tammie, I am the only one knowing what happened that year. But I soon realized I missed one, my uncle. But you never forgot him. But you couldnāt be sure. After all, our uncle is always sick. He took a long time to accept treatment abroad. It is really impossible for him to do such a thing. So you decided not to tell me."
"He is familiar with your pattern. He knew you couldnāt keep silent forever. So he accelerated the progress. He kidnapped Aaron. Apparently, he wanted to kill me. The method was the same. He used the same approach to kill my father by forging an accident. Then, done. No one would suspect him. The best result is to blame Aaron. So we would be separated completely."
Stuart said word by word. His voice sounded indifferent and cold, without any emotion.
Bette was slightly shocked by these words. Even though she already knew the result, she was not willing to accept it until Stuart said these words out directly.
"He is your uncle. We grew up together. He couldnāt do this," Bette still wanted to reject the truth.
"You should ask him for yourself. If it is hard for you, I can handle it myself. This involves lots of people, including Edieās mother. I donāt want to hurt Edieās feelings. Moreover, it might get Cecil involved. He is just a little kid. I would keep the secret from them."
Only when mentioning Edie, would Stuart look gentle.
He chose to divorce Edie not only to protect her but also to keep her away from what happened those years.
He didnāt want to hurt her. Therefore, he decided to conceal this from her.
After hesitating for quite a while, Bette said, "I can handle it."
After all, he was her brother.
At the moment, they heard someone stepping in. It was Edie,
She knocked on the door, "Can I come in?"
"Come in," Stuart smiled. Deep in his dark eyes was gentleness.
Edie opened the door. Seeing Bette, she was not surprised,
"Mom, Ive made some porridge. Have you had breakfast? I can take another bowl. Join us."
"Join us. She made breakfast herself." Stuart said.
Stuart knew what Edie wanted. She wanted to enjoy breakfast with her family. He didnāt want to disappoint her. So he tried to persuade Bette.
Bette wanted to refuse at the beginning because she knew Stuart wouldnāt like that. She didnāt expect he invited her. So she agreed. She hid her joy and said, "Iād love to. I havenāt eaten anything this morning. Thank you, Edie."
Edie looked so happy. She poured a bowl of porridge. Stuart wanted to take it. Edie stopped him immediately, "This one is for our mom. What are you doing?" She knocked his fingers with the chopsticks.
Stuart froze for a while. He seldom had dinner with Bette. Even though they ate on the same table, both felt embarrassed. Either he or Bette would leave the table first. So he never considered his mother.
Besides, he didnāt want to eat first. He just wanted to give it to Edie.
But since Edie said, Stuart immediately moved the bowl to Bette.
Then he took another bowl of porridge and stirred carefully. After the porridge cooled down a little bit, he moved it to Edie.
"I donāt drink milk. You can drink mine. Good for your health," he said.
"Okay."
The vice president enjoyed the breakfast silently. Looking at them getting together again, she felt so happy.
Stuart was exactly the same as his father. He looked so cold in front of others. But when he stood in front of the girl he loved deeply, he would be so gentle and cute.
