"Something just shot past us, really fast." The tall, heavyset man standing next to Annie spoke, his voice booming and muffled.
"Thereâs not going to be a problem here, is there?"
Xie Ning glanced at them, her expression indifferent. "In that case, take your things to the car and wait inside."
Clutching three boxes of instant noodles and refusing to let go, they couldnât press on. It was incredibly inconvenient.
The tall, heavyset man was especially problematic, holding five boxes that completely blocked his vision.
If something were to happen, he wouldnât even be able to run!
The tall, heavyset man hesitated, glancing at Annie.
Xiao Huang Mao scoffed. "Lou Dali, you still have to look to Annie to make your own decisions? Just get back to the car and stay put. Itâs perfectly safe there."
Lou Dali shot Xiao Huang Mao an irritated glare.
Of their entire group, only Xiao Huang Mao wore a large backpack.
âHe thinks I didnât see him? Just now, Xiao Huang Mao tore open the boxes and stuffed the instant noodles right into his bag. He packed at least twenty or thirty packs in there, which is just as much as weâre carrying in these boxes.â
âThat big backpack is the kind you use for hiking; Ji Taixian was the one who gave it to him.â
âSo shameless. That must mean Ji Taixian has extra backpacks in his Space but just isnât willing to give them to us.â
âHow incredibly stingy!â
Annie bit her lip. "If we had backpacks, we wouldnât need to go back to the car to put our things away."
Xie Ning completely ignored Annie and turned to her mother. "Letâs go check out whatâs up ahead."
Song Youâai agreed with a "Okay," but still turned to look at Annieâs group and earnestly advised them, "You should go back to the car. Itâs not easy to get around while carrying all that."
Annie was furious, but with Xie Ning ignoring her, she had no other options. She could only retreat sullenly with Lou Dali and the others.
Lou Dali glanced back at the figures of Xie Ning, Xiao Huang Mao, and their group, then grunted. "Donât be so upset. Who knows whatâs further inside? I have a weird, chilly feeling about this place."
"Itâs chilly because the warehouseâs air conditioning is on full blast."
"That just means the power grid is still working. Honestly, we would have been safest just staying home."
Muttering quiet complaints, the group quickly walked out of the warehouse.
Ji Taixian and Wang Zongxuan came jogging over, bringing Song Shijun with them.
Shijun was also wearing a backpack now, stuffed so full that it bulged and weighed heavily on his shoulders.
"Iâm opening the door." Xie Ning placed her finger on the warehouse doorâs activation button. "Everyone, be careful."
Everyone nodded in unison.
As Xie Ning pressed the button, the warehouse door rose, revealing the factory area beyond.
The machinery was all shut down, but piles of raw materials and finished products still sat beside them.
Xie Ning gave her mom a look.
Song Youâai understood immediately. She quickly said to Song Shijun, Ji Taixian, and Wang Zongxuan, "You three, come with me and take a look over here."
She led them toward the production line on the left.
Xie Ning seized the opportunity, quickly slipping behind a row of noodle presses on the right. She began stuffing boxes of instant noodlesâraw materials and finished products that hadnât yet been inventoriedâinto her own personal Space.
Just like that, two-thirds of her personal Space was filled.
The young woman breathed a sigh of relief, feeling her familyâs chances of survival had just increased considerably.
Meanwhile, Ji Taixian was also collecting useful items from the production line. He even had the wild idea of trying to move a whole steaming cabinet into his Space.
Song Youâai was exasperated. "Tai Xian, this machine... why donât we leave it for the professionals of the future, alright?"
