Chapter 291: Boons, And Training The Ducklings
Rael took a deep breath as he dropped to the ground, his vision turning blurry.
But before he passed out, he took one last glance at a pop-up that had appeared.
<DING! You have slain: Human (x1) [Level 16]: Moderate Experience increase. Extra Experience gained for killing an enemy above your level.>
<Youâve reached Level 12!>
<+11 Free Stat Points>
HaaâŚ
Rael let out a sigh, and without wasting a second, poured all his newly gained stats into Constitution.
Constitution: 20 â 31
His vision was no longer blurry, but the pain, as well as the numb feeling around his chest, was really uncomfortable.
Even so, he took a glance at his status.

Pushing through the pain, he realized he had gotten a new title.
When he tapped it, some interesting information appeared.
âThe Chosen One: When youâre within 1 kilometer of a chosen hero, you will be alerted. Experience gain slightly increased. Title will evolve once all the heroes have been slain.
A shiver ran down his spine as he focused.
Yet he couldnât feel anything off, which meant there were no heroes nearby.
He let out a relieved breath.
He really wouldâve hated to kill these siblings here.
As he turned to the side, he saw both of them running toward him, their faces riddled with shock and worry.
Jane crouched down and propped his head on her thighs.
As for Minos, he sat down beside Raelâs abdomen and pulled out a bandage.
âWhat are you two doing?â Rael asked, his voice hoarse. âIâm fine. Give me an hour or two to heal up. No need for the bandages.â
But Minos didnât listen as he began wrapping Raelâs abdomen up frantically, and then did the same for his leg.
Rael couldnât help but groan at their insistence, but he still let them finish.
A few minutes later, he was all bandaged up, and when he looked up, he saw Janeâs pouting face.
More surprising was her missing eye, which showed some considerable growth.
Maybe with a couple more points in Constitution, it might actually grow back.
âAlright, enough,â Rael said sternly. âProp me up, Iâm lying on a rock.â
âM-My bad,â Jane mumbled as she helped him stand up.
Upon examining his wounds, he realized he was fine.
Or for the most part, at least.
His abdomen was purple, and so were his legs.
But there was also the problem of one of his lungs being frozen, making it really hard to breathe.
Aside from the frostbite that would disappear after a few hours, he was mostly unharmed.
Yet he couldnât help but look back on the fight.
If Yun had more experience in using his skill, or if he had managed to somehow evolve his class, then Rael wouldnât have stood a chance.
All Yun had to do was expand his barrier slightly, either to push Rael away or just redirect the cold from a specific area.
But in the end, he didnât do anything.
I guess being the top ranker in Sketa Online can only take you so far when your actual life is on the line,
Rael thought with a painful chuckle.
Fucking snake.
Of course, he expected that by the time he found the others, theyâd have more experience, making the fights much more difficult.
Still⌠Iâll have toâ
<Main Scenario is being triggeredâŚ>
<Main Scenario â Part 3: The Fallen Surface>
<Description: Toxic gas will soon flood the surface, killing all humans who remain. For some reason, the toxic gas does not reach the underground?>
<Objective: Enter the underground metro.>
<Time Limit: 1 hour.>
âThis isâŚâ Jane trailed off, her face paling.
âGood thing you left, eh?â Rael remarked, turning to Minos, who had a similar reaction to his sister.
âHey, what happened to the rat after it died? Can you resummon it?â
Minos flinched, then shook his head.
âAfter it died, I lost connection to it. The glowing slot in my mind also disappeared, so now thereâs 10 empty slots,â he replied.
âI seeâŚâ Rael nodded. âLetâs get you some puppets before we enter the metro then, shall we?â
Jane pinched Raelâs arm.
âNot in that condition. You just sit by,â she said firmly. âIf your injuries increase and we enter the metro system with three cripples⌠weâre going to die instantly.â
Raelâs brow twitched.
âFair point. Sure, show me what youâve gotâŚâ
.
.
.
âKya! Kill it!â
Minos raised Raelâs bronze sword in the air, then swiftly brought it down, missing the skeleton soldier completely.
ââŚâ
The skeleton soldier turned around and threw a fist straight at Minosâs jaw.
It connected, and with a crack, Minos was knocked out cold.
Janeâs fists trembled as she thrust the prop staff straight at the skeleton.
Yet instead of doing any real damage, it simply lodged between its ribs, getting stuck.
Janeâs eyes widened, and before the skeleton could cause any real damage, Rael picked up a nearby rock, approaching it.
And of course, with a simple
thwack
over the head, the skeletonâs skull split open as it fell to the ground.
-55! Fatal Hit!
<DING! You have slain: Skeleton Soldier (x1) [Level 5]: Minor Experience increase.>
Rael let out a sigh, turning toward the panicking Jane and the knocked-out Minos.
âIâd say that was a good attempt, but⌠you know.â
âYou told me not to use magic!â Jane retorted. âI canât even see properly. How am I meant to aim the staff correctly?â
She pointed at her brother.
âAnd whyâd you give him a heavy sword? He couldnât evenââ
âOkay, okay, shut up,â Rael cut her off. âComplain all you want, but remember that no oneâs going to play fair in this world.â
He narrowed his eyes.
âThankfully, weâre very close to a metro, so until we enter itâŚâ Rael trailed off, a sadistic grin forming on his face.
âYou two will be undergoing some serious training.â
