Chapter 292: Inside The Metro
Jane and Minos remained silent on the ground, their gazes lifeless.
Rael had spent little time and effort training them; instead, he pitted them against weak monsters with unique attack patterns.
Obviously, he took the ladder route.
Rat, skeleton, dragon.
They didnât literally fight a dragon though, only an oversized bat.
But as he glanced down at the two exhausted siblings, it looked like they might as well
have
fought a dragon.
Rael let out a sigh, taking a peek at the timer.
<14:02>
<14:01>
Still a bit of time left,
he mused, crouching down beside them.
âAnother bat is flying in, prepare toââ
Like seasoned veterans, the two siblings shot to their feet, one holding a staff, the other gripping a sword in one hand.
But once they realized no bat was in sight, they let out a relieved breath.
âGood.â Rael nodded. âNow that youâre all rested up, what do you say we start moving into the metro? Do you have any food?â
Jane shook her head. âNot enough to survive in there.â
âI have some.â Minos extended his hand and pulled out a bag of chips from seemingly nowhere.
But both Rael and Jane simply stared at him as if he was the biggest idiot in the world.
âManâŠâ Rael muttered, rubbing his temples in frustration. âIf you had an inventory⊠why didnât you say anything!?â
âHuh? Donât you two have one as well?â Minos asked with a tilt of his head.
âOf course not,â Jane replied. âIf we had one, then we wouldnât even be having this conversation right now.â
âOhâŠâ
âHow much can you store?â Rael asked urgently. âIs it 50 slots?â
â20,â Minos said. âB-But I can stack items⊠so if you give me 50 bags of chips, theyâd only count as one slot.â
Rael paused, staring at Minos as if he was his lord and savior.
âGoodâŠâ he muttered. âWeâre going to fill you up. Get readyâŠâ

Rael hummed in satisfaction as he walked beside the two siblings.
Looting 10 different stores was satisfying, but realizing Minosâs inventory could stack endlessly was even better.
So as it stood, they had gathered hundreds of all kinds of foods, making sure theyâd be able to survive for as long as possible.
Yet the only constraint was time.
But Rael didnât regret it.
Spending time with them and teaching them how to fight was definitely worth it in the long run.
And as for when food runs out, I can justâŠ
Rael trailed off, letting out a sigh.
No, I canât just buy food through the premium shop⊠but maybe one of those monsters is edible? Rats maybeâŠ?
He put that on the back burner for now as he approached the broken escalator and stepped down into the darkness.
That darkness didnât last long as Jane raised a hand, conjuring a single shard of glowing ice that she rotated around the three of them, illuminating the dark metro.
Then, something unexpected happened.
The lights that had been embedded in the tunnel walls lit up, paving the path forward.
Rael put his guard up and continued walking, the siblings doing the same.
A few minutes later, the timer finally ran out.
<00:01>
<00:00>
<Ding!>
<Third part of the main scenario has been completed!>
<Main Scenario is being triggeredâŠ>
<Main Scenario â Part 4: The Subtle Shift>
<Description: It has nearly been a single day since the Awakening. Your world is undergoing great changes, expanding in scope, and opening up new possibilities.>
<Objective: Wait inside the metro until the worldâs expansion has been concluded.>
<Time until world expansion is finished: 7 days.>
âWorld expansionâŠ? Really?â Rael mused. âLike this hellhole wasnât massive already.â
â7 days inside the metro⊠should we just find a place to hide?â Jane suggested. âBecause if we group with the others, then there might be some problemsâŠâ
Rael looked her up and down.
âWe can do that, sure. But I donât think we can avoid meeting them first.â
He pointed ahead to where an opening had appeared.
Beyond it were several hundred people, perhaps even thousands.
And this was just one of the many metro tunnels. He could only assume what it was like in the other hundreds of tunnels.
StillâŠ
Rael walked forward with his shirt tucked in, hiding all his visible injuries so as not to show any weakness.
But even soâŠ
âPfft⊠whatâs that?â
âLooks like two cripples.â
âWell no shit, right? I mean, look at their belts. That belt that woman has is worth more than my truckâŠâ
âKekeke⊠good thing money doesnât matter anymore, right?â
Rael listened to their comments silently.
This metro tunnel opening was very wide, and it seemed to have been pre-packed with all sorts of survival materials.
Tents, cooking stations, and even a water filter.
The walls were cracked, yet lit by a soft, unnatural light.
Yet the strangest of them all was the sword rack off to the side, which was nearly empty by now.
It was almost as if whoever had sent them into the metro wanted them to fight to the death.
But Rael didnât want any of that. He just wanted to go past them and back into the tunnels so he could find a cozy spot to rest for a week.
After all⊠my injuries are healing way too slowly,
he thought.
Even after an hour⊠my HP barely increased.
HP: 127/310 â 155/310
I really need more Constitution. Recovering barely half a point of HP per minute just isnât it.
As he was expecting to walk by the people without any interruptions, one of them stood up.
It was a tall and bulky man, and it seemed like instead of Rael, his malice was aimed at the two siblings.
âHeya, I see you got an interesting belt there. Nice shoes too. Mind sharing?â the man asked with a crooked grin.
Seeing where this was going, Rael sighed, drew back his leg, and without hesitation, sent a kick straight at the manâs balls.
-53! Critical Hit!
But the moment he did that, the rest of the goons who were gathered around immediately got up with condescending gazes.
âHey⊠bastard. What do you think youâre doing, huh?â
